big trouble!!!!
Ed, I was figuring that I could get away with 9:1 CR because my L24 setup was running 8.75:1 and I was using 87 octaine with no problems at all. How big of a deal is the smaller valves? Is it just a high performance issue(6000 rpms and higher?) or will the engine run like crap with the smaller valves(at any rpm)? The reason im not using the N42 block is I think the CR is to low (8.29:1) and I sort of wanted a little more performance from the engine. am I crazy:ermm: . Thanks for your help, Matt P.S. I would be running SU's with SM needles ... sound good?

Top End Performance Parts ???????
Wow! that's pretty good, with the cam and valves, forged pistons! Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Good luck.

Exhaust questions...
I think that all of the headers will work on any L engine head. Even if its a turbo, Motorsport Auto sells a great header 6-2-1 for $154 US (no Smog) www.zcarparts.com part #15-6001 If you want to get it jet hot coated its an other $150 Matt-

Top End Performance Parts ???????
That seems way to expensive! But then again what does it come with? I rebuilt my L24 and E88 head for about $800 US and that's with the machine shop work and new everything exept crank rods and pistons. so if you're getting all new rods pistons crank block rings bearings head cam springs timing change all gaskets and freez plugs and anything else needed for a "new" L28 I guess its not that over priced. It all depends on what your getting. Matt-

fly cut pistons
Has anyone ever fly cut their pistons? Is it done just to lower compression? Or does it have some kind of HP benifit? I would love to get an answer on this one guys. Thanks Matt-

Zcar trouble today
I think frank is right, it sounds like a fuel problem to me If its not fuel then it must be electric. It definatly doesn't sound like mechanical problem. Good luck! Matt-

Why can't I get my valves set right?!!!

big trouble!!!!
Frank wins a prize! Very few people ever get my screen name. Im a photographer and I use my zeiss 150mm lens all the time. I did a search in the forums and every E88 and L28 combo talked about putting in bigger valves, so I was wondering if that was a "must" or can I get by with the 42 mm valves for an every day driver? Also if I get an F54 from the junk yard does it have to be non turbo in order for it to have flat top pistons? Matt-

big trouble!!!!
Hey Z people Looks like I need to rebuild my engine:dead: I had an L24 but im going to jump up to an L28 (F54), so here is my question, can I use an E88 head with out putting the bigger valves in the e88 head and still use the f54 flat top pistons? Has anyone ever done this? Are the smaller valves a problem? Will I starve the engine? If I do need the bigger valves is it just the intake or is also the exaust? Also is it just a matter of putting in the bigger valves or do you need bigger seats? A couple more questions... Is flycutting the pistons used just to lower compression? If I run 9.5:1 CR can I use 87 octaine? Do all F54 blocks have flat top pistons? I really don't know what to do... Help.

Why can't I get my valves set right?!!!
awww man? would you guy's look down on me if I had a professional Z mechanic set my valves and carbs? I think i've bitten off more than I can chew. I've tried several times and it just seems to be getting worse?:sleepy: It would only be $120 to get someone that works on Z's all day every day to fix me up real good. bummed out matt-

Hey Z brothers, I got a corke gasket in my engine rebuild kit. As far as I know it was "new". When I put it on it stayed in one peice I know because I needed to take it off for some reason (I don't remember why it was 9 months ago). It dosen't leak at all and i've been driveing it for 9 months now. I didnt use any permitex or sylicone I just used the corke are it has worked great. Good luck Matt-

Bhp
Thanks for the info guy's If it's Break horse power, Where did I get Blown horse power? I talked with my local nissan dealer and I asked them if the horse power rating of 287 for the 2004 350Z was messured at the flywheel or the rear wheels and they assured me that it was messured at the rear wheel. But for some reason I dont belive them. Am I to sinical? I drove the car and it didn't feel like it had any where near that amout of HP. My 240 Z with L24 seemed to pull harder. Is there more torque in the L24 than the 3.5 v6? and just to be extra clear ... BHP is messured at the flywheel... right? Matt-

Bhp
Hey Z people, This is a lame question... but here it is anyway. Is blown Horse Power messured at the rear wheels, or is it messured at the flywheel? Thats, it... Good times, Matt -

dash lights brighter
do they make 12 volt led's that will just plug in or do you have to cut the original bulb sockets and put some new ones? I wonder if an adaptor could be made for the bulb socket so no glueing or sodering would be nessary. Matt-

dash lights brighter
I think they do have a ground to the case :sleepy: but LED's sound awsome. If you can make it happen let me know. If you want to get to the gauges easy pull your golve box liner out (It comes out pretty easy) and you should have a straight shot to thoes gauges. Matt-

Location for oil temp sender
