BeeZee Got the 260 SM let me look it up just got back into town thanks for the info Thanks for the info everyone. Jim BeeZEE Looked at Diagram BE144 and now see how the connecters for the EGR ,throttle and distributer are part of the main engine room harness. It looks like people just snipe them off when they remove the stock intake. or loop them and tape them over. I'll have to see on my engine room harness. I see that I was wrong about the male bullet connectors, must of been to much holiday cheer or staring at those solenoids to long.

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm rebuilding an original intake manifold tuna cans and all for my 260's L26 and I'm stuck. Trying to find a complete or a P/N for a small section of engine harness that connects the EGR Solenoid, Throttle Opener solenoid to distributor. I'll describe it the best I can, two wires, a green/white strip to EGR solenoid w/male bullet connector and black/white strip Throttle Opener solenoid w/male bullet both terminate in a two pole male connect that I believe connect to a female connector by the distributer. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Thanks, Jim 1974 260Z - 302 Leaf Green Metallic/ Black RLS30-020697 (01/74)

I knew this was the place to go. Stephen that be the one 08/73-07/76. Thou 24023-N4200 show applicabilty from 12/74 - 07/75 superceded by 24023-N4201 08/75, page 54F-2. I'm now getting the impression that is wiring harness section just ahead of the one I'm looking for, from the junction box to two connectors that run above the passenger's feet. Thanks, Jim

Hi Thanks for the info. I have the club's parts CD, and tried to pull up the info on my parts CD , but the 08/73 -11/74 section isn't there. I'll try those pages again. I tried NISMO web site and found P/N 24023-N3600 to, was hoping to confirm it. I think the pin out is different on a 260 harness. Rick I'd be intested, my harness was hacked in the past, tried redoing the connectors bit to much had been cut away, PM me with details.

Looking for a part number for the center console harness for a 260z (manuf 01/74). Looking at a replacement one on Ebay from a 76 280z (The P/N 24023-N4201 my best guess) not sure if it would work, can anyone help? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320063084711&rd=1,1 Thanks, Jim 1974 260Z - RLS30-020697 (01/74)

Hey astrohog I seem to remember a similar post I didn’t care for the chrome air cleaner so went more stock. I found a close match for the air cleaner’s outer foam packing at McMaster website; I didn’t save the P/N. Media blasting shouldn’t be a problem; I used paint stripper and oven cleaner with good results. Primed and painted them got the decals from Banzai Motors http://www.zzxdatsun.com/ I used the following Duplicolor paint ________________________________________ View color chart Dupli-Color® Engine Enamel An early post suggested DE 1621 Old Ford Blue for the engine block and DE 1634 Low Gloss Black oil pan and engine mounts. I personally used DE 1607 Chevrolet Orange-Red and then a clear coat for my 260z Air Cleaner. I also painted a 74 ½ Air Cleaner using DE 1610 Pontiac Blue (I used either a white or gray primer first) also used the same color for the vapor canister clamp. (picture posted)

I also have been waiting for an east coaster to have something like this! Unfortunately, I can't make it, either, other plans and still working on the car should be ready. How about September a run to Frank Pepe's and/or Sally's Apizza - dido on a nice drive to New Haven and good eats. Need to plan out details! Jim 1974 260Z - RLS30-020697 (01/74)
  9. Thanks for the tips all are very good, storing all kinds of parts a rubber hoses refinished air cleaner, smog pump, intake and exhaust manifolds, and replated brackets oh ya, electrical relays, wiring harness. I'll probably combine them all in one fashion or another, tried under the bed but, kept hitting my toes at nite. I was thinking of using brown paper with some oil, like the old oil paper, do you think it will harm plated or painted surfaces? Thanks again, keep em coming. Jim
  10. I'm in the process of getting some parts replated, looking for advice on what the best way to store them is, to protect them from humidity an such until I use them. I don't have access to a temperature or humidty controlled storage area, just garage shelves. :classic: Thanks, Jim 1974 260Z - RLS30-020697 (01/74)

I looked through the forums couldn't find a answer. I'm about to send a hood support rod out for replating for a early 74 260z , from what I can tell Zinc/Yellow Chromate appears to be the original finish. I can't tell how the attaching screw were finished. Does anyone know how they were originally finished? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim 260Z - RLS30-020697 (01/74)

Hello, What year is your Z? On my 74 260z had a similar problem where if it sat for any length of time in cold weather below 50 F or 10 C I'd have no charge. I found in the Nissan FSM the voltage regulator is temperature compensated and is responsible for both voltage and has the charging relay. The FSM has the adjustment for the point gap for both as they change over time. If you don't have Nissan FSM I recommended you get one for your Z, it has good diagnostic procedure to check voltages at other points in the charging system to help isolate the fault if it isn't the Voltage Regulator. When I took mine apart I found that it was better to replace it after 30+ years, found the correct one on Ebay and the problem hasn't returned. I hope this helps Jim 1974 260Z - RLS30-020697 (01/74)
  15. The two vaccum connectors are on the front intake itself just above and behind the carb mounting studs. The opener control valve connects to the first connector and the other one connects to a t-connector, the backfire valve and air cleaner. I'll post some pics tommorrow Thanks, Jim
  16. Thanks everyone great suggestions. The intake is off the car so metal shavings aren't a concern. I have a donor intake that has other major problems that I'll try to rob the tubing from to replace the broken ones, once the they are out. I'll let you know how it comes out :classic: Thanks again Jim
  17. The intakes were on the 73 and 74 Zs. Definitly not screwed in, they look to be pressed in is my guess. Trying to get some ideas on replacing them. Thanks for the reply. Jim 1974 260Z - RLS30-020697 (01/74)
  18. I need some advise on the best way to remove the two vaccum connectors on the front intake manifold that snapped flush. :stupid: I was thinking of pushing or pressing them straight through, is there a better way.
  19. Hi, I am restoring my Z's engine, so I am in process of doing the items like the camshaft, alternator and air pump . My question is; what is the stock oem color (number) for these types of pullies? I thought I saw post before, but can't find them now. I Thought they said use to duplicolor DE 1621 Old Ford Blue as it was a close match for some of them.
  20. Hey all, was hoping somebody might know how to test a standard tachometer or anyone that might repair them. Jim
  21. I decided to create this thread to post what I learned as well and to seek helpful advice. I’m not sure I have all the bases covered. To date I have taken it apart and bought new parts from NISMO P/N Description 00933-11600 Plug-Welch 16 00933-11810 Plug-Welch 18 00933-12000 Plug-Welch 20 00933-12010 Plug-Welch 20 14009-73401 Gasket-Bal tube NISMO came back with the part number changes: P/N Description QTY Unit of issue 00933-1161A Plug-Welch 16 1 Package 00933-1181A Plug-Welch 18 1 Package 00933-12000 NLA superseded by 00933-12010 00933-12010 Plug-Welch 20 1 Package 14009-73401 Gasket-Bal tube 2 Each What I was planning to do was to the remove the freeze plugs and have the balance tube and manifold media blasted and hot tanked after having three broken heat shield bolts removed.

Z Car Home Page list Paint Codes and Interior Colors for 1970 Through 1976 model Zs but no interior colors. I'm I wrong in assuming they were black? The reason I ask is, there is a 260Z for sale on E-Bay that show a fabric interior of Blue and white stripes. I'm hoping Carl Beck will respond, as he is the contact person at Z Car Home Page. :nervous: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4538628324&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT 1970 and 71 Model Year Cars 901 Light Metallic Gray or Silver Metallic 903 Blue (till 8/71) 904 White (till 7/75) 905 Red (till 8/71) 907 Dark Green (till 8/71) 918 Orange 919 Yellow (till 8/71) 920 Gold (till 8/71) Added/Changed for 72/73 Model Year Cars 110 Red (from 9/71 on) 112 Yellow (from 9/71) (aka: Lime) 113 Green Metallic (from 9/71) (aka: Leaf Green / Avocado) 114 Bronze Metallic (from 9/71) (aka: coco / dark brown) 115 Blue Metallic (from 9/71) 260Z / 280Z Colors 215 White (from 8/75 on) 214 Dark Brown (from 8/73 - 7/76) 240 Green Metallic (from 8/75 on) 301 Brown Metallic (from 8/73) 302 Leaf Green Metallic (from 8/73) 303 Green Metallic (8/73 - 7/75) 304 Gold Metallic (8/73 - 7/75) 305 Light Blue Metallic (from 8/73) 306 Silver Metallic (from 8/73) 307 Blue Metallic (from 8/73) 362 Dark Purple Metallic (from 8/75) 517 Beige Metallic (from 8/76) (aka: Lt. It could be the hazard flasher unit on the driver side underneath the dash is bad or missing to. Does the switch illuminate when activated?

Not to worry I got one from NISSMO for my 74 260z. Set up an account with them doesn't cost any thing. I looked at my CD came up with the following part numbers (P/N) for a hazard switch 25910-N3600 good from 12/74 to 7/76 and 25910-N4700 8/76 to unknown. When was your Z manufactured? :classic:
