Saw this auction on eBay tonight. Thought it might be of some interest to those folks looking for a splash pan... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-Datsun-NOS-Engine-Splash-Pan-260z-280z-z-car_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42611QQihZ011QQitemZ320053053697QQrdZ1 webdawg1
  3. Saw an auction on ebay that might be of some interest to all. Guy goes by the handle of jaguardatsuns. Looks like he has (7) cars total. I asked him several questions as to what all he had as far as model years...etc...etc.. Finally got him to respond back with the following info. OK, here it is, (2) 72 models, (2) 73 models, and (3) 74 models, all the 74's are the small bumper (early) models. Really need to send a 'scout' that knows what they are looking at and take notes. I am in Western Ky, just off I-24 at US 4l. Call ahead at (270) 886-7933 and make arrangements. Glad to take the time with one of your members. Have been at the early Z's since 81, but am really a Jag man. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1&viewitem=&item=130050570434 webdawg1

How about a BIG honking pair of vice grips...Do you have enough to grab onto with the vice grips. If not, you may end up taking all that off in order to get to the stud so you can get it out... webdawg1

You can try the following url: http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=63814-E4100&submit.x=11&submit.y=4 or your local dealer. Showing about $1.22 each... webdawg1

Yeah...I'll be getting mine back from (Moyer fuel tank renu) http://www.gas-tank.com/ here shortly. Was only $295.00, so it must not of been too very bad as far as condition....As I was expecting it to be more...So it was really nice when they said ONLY $295.00...So in other words, I'm a happy camper with that price... webdawg1

That would be kind of interesting to find out.... I've seen various markings on the bolts...mostly 4, 7 , and 9 1. And then some of them have no markings at all...From what I've found so far it appears to be standards related (JIS) Kind of like our SAE...but nothing about the bolt head markings... webdawg1

Anyone have a good tech article on the OEM head bolt markings that were used when these cars were first put together? Or is there such an animal??? On one of the Bellhousing Bolts the head marking looks like 1 9. Or it could be 6 1 if you rotate it 180 degrees, but then the 1 does not look right...if you know what I mean.... webdawg1

Yeah, I'm sure.... Believe it or not, I carry both SAE/Metric thread gages on my key chain and my trusty 4-way Sears pocket screwdriver. When I'm at the house and working out in the garage I also use a bolt size gage I got from www.fastenal.com as well as the metric thread gage to verify the thread pitch and bolt/screw size. webdawg1

Anyone know right off the top of their head what the correct OEM bolt strength was/is for the bellhousing mounting bolts. (75 280Z , 4 speed manual) Got a couple on the bottom that look kind of rough so I thought I'd look around for suitable replacements. I know what size and thread pitch they are, (10mm x 1.5 x 60mm) just need the strength rating... webdawg1

Are you saying the threads are stripped? Or are you saying the head is rounded off? If the head is rounded off some you (MIGHT) be able to drill a hole and use a long pin punch or something like that to get some leverage on it so it will unscrew... webdawg1
  16. Sounds like he is making reference to item #4 and misc. washers...etc...etc in the following picture... webdawg1
  17. This might help you out some. Forget where I found them, but I stashed them away anyway. Figured I'd need them one day, somewhere down the road...If you know what I mean... webdawg1

Whatever....BIG GRIN Hey...as long as we're sharing info and trying to help each other out (I.E. - Moral support, Kind words when needed...etc...etc) who gives a hoot..... webdawg1
  19. Yeah...that's the same thing I got hold of off of eBay. Only difference is its for a 1975 280Z. Never knew they even made these things....Much less that there is still several still out there.... webdawg1
  20. I got hold of a set of the dealer wiring wall charts for a 75 280Z on eBay not too long ago. Has about 3-4 color wall charts (Read really big) that was still in the tube and sealed. (Paid somewhere around $40.00) Kind of thinking about have them copied at Kinko's or something like that, but not really sure if there were that many folks with 75 280Z cars out there in Z land.... webdawg1
  21. Would this process be as good as or better than Jethot?? Or would it be approx. the same?? Looks really good tho from what I can see... webdawg1

  23. Should probably learn to spell check his auctions as well... webdawg1
  24. You could always powder-coat it....Eastwood has a single stage powder that looks just like chrome. Would look really nice...2006 catalog, page 81 at the top of the page, item #11504. webdawg1

You could have your dash redone for approx. $600.00. (I.E. - Dash would look just like new) Spend the rest on parts you might need somewhere else...Do a search on (Dash Board Restorations) that should get you going in the right direction. webdawg1
