If that's the 1/4" fuel/vapor line coming from the vapor tank in the back right hand side, (Passenger side) which passes thru the rear right side frame member....Then that should be a one way "check valve"...If you trace it all the way to the engine compartment then it (The line) should end connecting to the vapor cannister. webdawg1

If you have a "Lowes" near you, they sell a fairly decent little book on welding...(I.E. - Stick, TIG, MIG...etc...etc) Runs about $15.00 or so unless you decide to buy some other stuff. webdawg1
  3. Here's some more spreadsheets I currently have done that can be posted for general use by all concerned...Fiche section 91-1 is still << inwork >> (will post this one at a later date) Remember to makes any changes to the spreadsheet(s) based on your model year as there will be "some" differences between model years...but for the most part should be pretty accurate... webdawg1 Fiche 29-1 (Manifold EGR L28E Dec 74 - Jul 76).xls Fiche 35-1 (E.F.I - Air Flow - L28E From Dec 74).xls Fiche 41-1 (Accelerator L28E From Dec '74).xls Fiche 94-1 (Front Brake).xls Fiche 95-1 (Rear Brake).xls

  5. Was talking with FMSI (FMSIinc.com) today regarding some 3/16" brake line steel tube nuts (Item #3043 3/16" 10mm x 1.0 Japanese) . They said they only sold to jobbers and parts stores and in bulk. They did however turn me on to the "Only" distributor for FMSI in the USA. Guys name is Kevin at (814) 362-3221. Owns 3-4 parts stores (Autopartmart is the name I think) I talked with him for a little bit and he stated that you could order whatever quantity you want. (I.E. - No bulk order requirements) So if anyone wants to make up their own brake lines here's a source for the tube nuts... webdawg1

Did you use the "Hold Down Ring" and four screws to attach the "Shift Boot" to the transmission tunnel ?? Should look like the following attached image... webdawg1
  10. I've got a 1975 280Z. So if you see anything on the spreadsheet(s) that I've marked as N/A, it may pertain to your model year, but not for mine. Which is why I've been saying right from the get-go...compare what you have to the spreadsheet and make any changes as needed to get it right for your model year.... webdawg1
  11. yes and no...Some areas will be pretty generic (I.E. - 90-1 Front Suspension, Rear Suspension) and other areas are more model specific to that model year. (I.E. - 38-1 Fuel Pump) It just depends on which model year you have and make any changes to the spreadsheets as needed according to the microfiche. webdawg1

  15. I'm mostly doing the spreadsheets just to track "where I'm currently at with a certain area" vs "where I need to be" in terms of what still needs to be done. I'm pretty sure who ever wants to use them will change them to suit their own needs. Bottom line is...From my perspective, it looks like they (The spreadsheets in whatever form they take) will help everyone with tracking whats going on with their car(s). I'm open to suggestions as to how or where to put them, or I can send them to each person that wants to get what I currently have done. Heck...for that matter...if everyone did two or three sections out of the microfiche...the whole microfiche could/would be done in no time...Just a thought... webdawg1
  16. 26th-Z, So far I've got about 7 made up with one I just started on. Fiche 26-1 (emission control), 39-1 (fuel tank), 44-1 (engine mounting), 91-1 (rear axle & drive train) << currently inwork >>, 38-1 (fuel pump), 40-1 (fuel piping), 90-1 (front suspension), 92-1 (rear suspension) I've pretty much just been printing out the various sections from the microfiche and going thru them line for line and adding it into the spreadsheet a little at the time. Seems to help out quite a bit for tracking purposes, as you can pretty much tell just by looking at the spreadsheet what still needs to be done and where. Helps out in the overall plan also because you can make the decision up front as to what you are going to do with an item (I.E. - Repair, Replace, Repaint, Replate....etc....etc) I got the basic idea from one of the posts I had seen a while back. Someone had made up a spreadsheet to track nuts/bolts that they were buying from Midwest Z. So I'm sort of thinking to myself...wonder how that would work for the microfiche...So I've been plugging away at it when I can get the time.... webdawg1
  17. Was messing around the other night with Excel as I was trying to think of a way to track with any degree of certainty where I was at with various areas on the Z. At any rate I came up with several spreadsheets that tie in with the microfiche CD. (Plug for the Zcar club CD) Thought I'd throw one out here for all to see...feel free to use it if you think it will help you out. Also have several other spreadsheets made up dealing with various sections of the microfiche...(I.E - Front suspension (Fiche 90-1), Rear suspension (92-1), Fuel Tank (39-1), ...etc...etc) if anyone is interested I'll post the other spreadsheets. Just blank out the √ marks and any other info you might want to change and save it to your storage device of choice. webdawg1 Fiche 44-1 (Engine Mounting).xls

You can buy that tool from Snap-On, Napa...etc...etc. Just depends which type of clamp they sent with the boots. Just take the clamp(s) in with you when you talk to them...they should be able to fix you right up... webdawg1

Fuel pressure is around 30-35 constant?? Should be more like 36.27 psi if I remember correctly. Check the vacuum hose that connects between the intake manifold and the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator. You may have a cracked vacuum hose. Also check PCV valve. It might be plugged up really good. Also check condition of AFM hoses for small cracks. Check resistance on spark plug wires 1 & 2 with them still hooked up to the distributor cap with an ohmmeter. If resistance is more than 30,000 ohms, remove cable from cap and check the cable resistance only. If it's still more than 30,000 ohms replace the cable. webdawg1

So....have you tried using some "Rust Bullet" yet? I'm not taking one side or the other at this point, due to the fact that I've been comparing "Rust Bullet" vs "POR15" in some "real world" tests of my own.... Seems pretty interesting so far... webdawg1

Actually, you've got a couple of ways you can do it... DIY....POR15 after having tank hot-tanked for several days. Multi step process (Fairly cheap) Have someone else do it...(Slightly more money) Send it off to somewhere like "Tank-Renu" (Price will vary depending on condition of tank. Could be anywhere in the price range of $300-$400+ or higher) Do a search on "Tank-Renu" and you should come up with several url's for websites. webdawg1

How about you do the following: Pull the "cotter pin" out of each "clevis pin" on Left/Right rear wheel where it hooks into the emergency brake on each rear wheel. After you get the brake handle SNAFU fixed, just release the tension on the emergency brake cable and put the pins and cotter keys back in or use a new cotter key for each one. Keep it simple..... webdawg1

  25. My screenname is just a slight change from my eBay handle. (webdog1) I'm always on the "Web" surfing eBay for Z parts or anything else of interest or so it seems, and I live in "Georgia". So it just seemed to be the right handle to use.... webdawg1
