single downdraft carb
The problem is that after the car sits for a while it runs like crap. If it only sits for a week or two then it takes 5-10 minutes of warming up to get rid of the little backfires/sputters and then it runs ok. After it sits for much more than that the car usually runs like crap. I put seafoam in the gas tank if it's going to sit for a while.

single downdraft carb
Hi, I was wondering what the pros and cons are to running the single downdraft setup? Also anyone out there who actually runs that system, just whether they like the setup. In the past I had run a dual downdraft weber setup and had issues with the car surging and was told that the issue was the gas pooling in the base of the intake manifolds and then when I stepped on it, it would suck up all that extra gas. Since switching to the dual su setup I haven't had the issue, but I'm getting tired of them not running right after the car sits for a while. thanks, Brian

rear wheels stuck
I'm not sure I understand how the clutch slave was released in the same way as the rear brakes. could you explain? I"ll try to gather some people together or maybe attach a tow cable and give it a tug.

rear wheels stuck
Hi guys, I recently tried to move my 260 that had been sitting for quite some time in the garage. Turns out I have no clutch pressure and the car won't budge. The master isn't leaking so I'm thinking that the diaphragm in the slave has gone. The real question I have is why the rear wheels won't budge. I jacked up the car and beat on the drums for a bit, thinking maybe the shoes had stuck themselves to the drum. That didn't fix anything. I also thought that maybe the wheel cylinder had gone on one side as I had to replace one side quite a while ago and didn't opt to replace both at the same time. I've heard this will sometimes cause the opposing side to go on older cars. Wouldn't that cause a lack of brake pressure though and free it if anything? thanks for any help, Brian

70-78 hood
I thought it sounded a bit too good to be true for my situation Rob. I called my local dealership and evidently their computers only go back to 1982 for the catalog. At one point I thought I had read about a stockpile Nissan started at a warehouse in Wisconsin or somewhere and that they had sent the vast majority of Nissan America's older parts there. Anyone know anything about that? Brian

what is the website address for the zcar garage? i think that's what it's called. it has a white 240 and displays the compression ratios for different head/block combos and differential ratios and such.

shifter to console
well, i suppose that may be the issue. when i got the car, it had no tranny. the guy had an extra short shifter that he tossed in the seat, but didn't fit the short ratio 5speed i originally got but had a bad throughout bearing nor the tall ratio 5speed that i currently have in there. my father and i just grabbed a shifter that we found at a z junkyard, .

shifter to console
Hi guys, I have a tall ratio 5 speed in my 74 and the shifter hits the console in the odd gears. Does anyone know if a shortshifter from motorsport auto would solve this or if i'll just have to cut the console to get it to fit correctly? Thanks, Brian

fiberglass hoods and replacement panels
Hey guys does having too many fiberglass panels on the front end like hood and both fenders leave too much weight off and give you that effect where the front end sticks up in the air at a slight angle with the gap between the wheel and fender?

fiberglass hoods and replacement panels
Hi guys, I may have made a post similar to this one quite a while ago, but the 260 has been sitting for quite a while. Has anyone had a positive experience with the fiberglass hoods or any of the fenders as far as fit? Also do the pin down hoods still hinge in the front and then just pin instead of latch near the firewall? thanks for the help, brian

Yet another eBay scam?
The weird thing that I see is no pictures of the engine or close ups of known rust areas for Z cars , either to prove none was ever there or it was repaired correctly. Just my 2cents

motorsport pans
Hey guys, I bought the set of floor pans from motorsport auto for my 74 260 awhile back and never put them in and have the opportunity to get a 70 240 that may need the pans redone. I bought the more expensive pans that came with a lil more material to play with and the frame rails. Does anyone know if the pans and frame rails from that package will fit on a 240? thanks for the help.

gasey engine bay
hey guys, I've had this problem where when i drive with my windows down i was getting a mixture of exhaust and gas smell in the cockpit and coudn't figure it out. I've since decided after driving with windows up that it is not the rear hatch seal. After i run the car, when i let it park and then pop the hood there is a strong smell of gas/exhaust mixture. There is also a somewhat low sounding whistle at idle. Does anyone think that the overflow valves on the su's can be letting out enough gas vapor to make it smell like that? or does this sound like i possible have a leak in my gasket for my header at the cylinder head? i would appreciate help cause this problem has plagued me for qutie awhile now and is realy starting to irritate me. whenever i drive i tend to end up in coughing fits after and i'd really like to be able to enjoy my z again. brian
