Desperately Seeking Tires
Try this tire finder: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?tireIndex=0&autoMake=Datsun&autoYear=1972&autoModel=240Z&autoModClar=&width=195/&ratio=70&diameter=14&sortCode=34600&skipOver=true&minSpeedRating=S&minLoadRating=S&tab=All This is for the stock tire size. You can do +1 fittings for a 15 x 7 rim for example.

A Car For A Museum or Leno?
Nice car but since when do you consider your storage fees & taxes as part of your investment. Sorry if I have $84K to burn I am buying a GTR.

Door panels
That's who I'd use as well.
-
Replacing door panels???
I would go with Les at Classic Datsuns door replacements.

Total Restoration Project. 71
Guy the car is stunning. Some of my favorite pics of any 240Z. Please check out this post and let me know your thoughts on using your shop in Va. for paint and body work on my white 240Z. You can PM if you prefer. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?23712-Oddessey/page5

Jerry, After driving my '71 240Z Friday, I am starting to think about a nice restoration. It will will be going back with the 904 White and blue interior. I have a brand new in box dash for it. I have all of Les's blue plastic interior pieces for it too. Mechanically I think she is fine. It mostly needs some minor fender dents straightened and a nice paint job. I would really like Les to do the work but being on the east coast I am not sure I can afford it. I might also try to get her up to Guy's shop in Richmond VA. Their paint and body work seem to be top notch. It would be cool to have Les go through the car. I think he is the best Z car authority in the business. You can PM me if you want.

Thanks. The 280Z is actually my college age son's car. Panasports make the car IMHO. The 280Z was not starting so I had it towed (Hagerty Insurance picked up the tab) to my local shop. I suspected bad battery cables. Turned out to be the case and $38 later she starts and runs like a charm. I followed the tow truck over in my 240Z. She ran like a champ all day. I am going to start driving one of them on work Fridays if weather looks OK.

Jared, I hope things work out for you and you can one day buy another Z car. Your 280Z was one of the nicest on this site.

RIP Dan Welden
The scary thing is if that wreck had occured on a part of the track lined with fans we'd probably be dealing with spectator deaths as happened to the IRL at Charlotte NC a few years ago. I have been involved in racing and knew better than to go watch open wheel cars at a banked oval. It is a recipe for disaster. It is even worse when drivers with very little experience at those speeds are in the field. It sounds like this field was full of cars and drivers who should not have been there. Sadly Dan paid the ultimate price. I can't imagine being his spotter. The in care video from his car is very telling. Thankfully they cut away right before he gets airborn.

SCCA National Championship Runoffs in two weeks
FWIW Greg is running a Lexan windshield. I think that complicates matters. In ITS you run a stock windshield.

best spray for un-cracked dash last cleaned in 96?
I agree. It's what I use as well.

SCCA National Championship Runoffs in two weeks
If the race continues to be held at RA this time of year something has to be done. I also am amazed that a driver can be on the comp board and vote on things that affect his class.

SCCA National Championship Runoffs in two weeks
It looks like rain. If Greg can keep the windshield from fogging up he has a great chance. He set fastest lap in the rain two years ago. You can watch it live on speedcast tv. http://www.speedcasttv.com/

SCCA National Championship Runoffs in two weeks
I thought the SCCA would have slowed Brakke up a bit but it doesn't look like it. If it rains all beats are off. I know Greg & Jesse were real quick in the rain a couple of years ago.

1973 240Z and Lotus SCCA Production Racing Rules
Greg, Tell them how the Porsche drivers had you bumped in class so you were out there with Audi R8's etc. at Sebring! The Porsche guys need to remember the Z cars regularly kicked their butts back in the day.
