Carl & Chris, I thought the '71 240Z series II cars like mine had the damper for winter summer driving. The series I cars were w/o the damper. http://www.ztherapy.com/ has a good write up on the differences. Look under the Z tab and scroll down. i have been thinking of buying a refurbished one for my '71 from them.

This board is a great resource. There is a ton of Z knowledge here. DatsunZGuy as well as several others where very helpful in my 240Z search. You might also check the classifieds here as well. FWIW I paid $11.8 K for my '71 240Z in good cosmetic and very good mechanical condition. This price included a new in the box Nissan dash. The PO had done a lot of the replacements required on a 30+ year old car. He had $4600 in receipts for the parts he installed. This included a new set of tires, 15 X 7 Panasports, Tokico HP shocks & Eibach springs. Good luck in your search.

That's the one Mike. Kinda misleading. I bought one replacement mirror from him for $30 and it didn't fit correctly. Ended up buying a whole new mirror. MSA & Charlie O. from Zedd have them.

Interesting to see the 240Z beat a 911S in CP. I am headed to the IT races this weekend at Road Atlanta. There will be several 240Z's competing against much newer cars and it is still competitive. Pretty amazing in my book. It's easy to see why the 240Z is such an important sports car. That's why I own two S30's.

I bought a Battery Tender Jr. for all my Z's. I don't drive them every day. It maintains the proper charge then shuts itself off and monitors the battery. I just bought the six piece rear interior Blue replacement panels from Les. He is great to work with and very knowledgeable. I wish he would sponsor here. Got a Classic Datsun license plate frame too! If I lived in Calif. he'd do my resto.

I bought a Battery Tender Jr. for $32 from Pep Boys. Works great.

I installed the NISMO strut tower brace Sunday. It just bearly clears the valve cover (1/16 of an inch, is that OK?) and the hood closes fine. I torqued the bolts to 25 ft. lbs. I believe that's what the FSM calls for. I left the washers off because I was afraid the nuts wouldn't have enough thread left to tighten properally. I'll try to get a few pics soon. I don't think it would work on a FI 280Z FWIW.

I bought a mirror refill also. Didn't fit right so I sent it back and bought the whole piece from MSA.

Any results from the ITS race at Summit Point this weekend 7/9 & 7/10?

Les at Classic Datsun has the best seat repros IMHO.

Mine is HLS30468702.

My '71 was built 2/71 VIN as noted in my sign. '78 280Z VIN is listed too. Not sure on production date.
