MSA 6/1 Header w/MSA Turbo exhaust?
Ordered the Dynomax Race Magnum Bullet Muffler (2.5 in & 2.5 out) 18" long unit from Summit Racing for $57 shipped to be used as a "premuffler". Should get it installed next week. Hopefully it will help cut out some of the resonance/noise in my system. I am running the coated MSA 6/1 header, MSA 2.5 " aluminized exhaust which comes with the Dynomax Turbo muffler.

Cleaned it up
Art, That looks like the latest style MSA brace. How long have you had it? I am wondering if they have fixed the all the fitment problems on the 280Z. Does it make a difference in the cars handling?

Lookin for front strut tower brace
I wonder if it has to do with whether the MSA strut braces are the newest design vs. a several year old design. I think they have updated the design to three hole supports vs. the old two holer. I wonder if they latest design works on the 280Z?

MSA 6/1 Header w/MSA Turbo exhaust?
I have the coated MSA 6/1 header, MSA aluminized exhaust which comes with the Dynomax Turbo muffler. It sounds very agressive outside the car but between 2K to 3K rpm it has a serious drone/resonance which gets old quick. I am planning on having a "glasspack" added after the header collector pipe to serve as a pre-muffler. See link below. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/exhaust/index.html Anyone here done this? Opinions?

Yea I saw & heard that comment. I for one would much rather see a nicely redone early Z than 50 '57 Chevies or Hot Rods. To each his own. I wonder what they might think of my '78 280Z in another 20 years. Heck if someone collects an '51 Mercury.....

turn siganls ahhh
VB T/S switch installed yesterday. Works great. It is not a Nissan part but an aftermarket piece. Swapped out the old capped dash & covered steering wheel at the same time.

1973 economy restoration
In my case we spent $3145 which included bodywork (battery tray damage, rust damage below gas door). My car had never been hit and there was still a lot of prep to get her ready for paint. All the rivet holes for the door ding strip had to be filled and sanded. Price included a new windshield and installing all new weatherstripping after paint by the glass guy. Mine is def not a restoration but more of VG refresh for a nice Z driver. Paint is BASF Diamont BC/CC Nissan code 611. Car was painted everywhere but the engine bay itself and interior. Because it was done by a regular body shop it took 4 months...... http://members.cardomain.com/jmark

Stainless Steel Replacement Fastners
I believe the head sizes differ from the OEM in some cases. I bought the front, rear & door kits when my Z was repainted. The shop mentioned the sizing difference to me. They look good to me & I am happy with the final product.

Lookin for front strut tower brace
Anybody here installed the PDK brace on a '78 280Z?

Lookin for front strut tower brace
Ron, I think that would be a great idea. Stephen how close are you to PDK? I'd feel alot better if the brace was tested on a '78 280Z before I order.

Lookin for front strut tower brace
Not sure I want to be the one to shut the hood the first time.

Lookin for front strut tower brace
Thanks Ron. If PDK needs a good test car my '78 280Z is a good example of a pretty much stock car! So far the PDK brace looks like the best option.

Lookin for front strut tower brace
Here is the response I got from PDK on their brace. There is a possibility that this hood issue could be a problem. Our brace sits lower than the MSA brace, so it shouldn't as much of an issue....With any older Z there are fitment problems, because of the age of the car, and lack of consistency in the build up of the original cars. Please feel free to call us for any additional questions 1-760-295-1033 Marc PDK Fabrications

Lookin for front strut tower brace
Dang. Anyone know if the PDK Fab version fits w/o damaging the hood on a '78?

Lookin for front strut tower brace
Anybody beside MSA make a decent front strut tower brace? Seems the MSA one dents the 280Z hood..... See Pennyman's post above.

Dash Lights
That's what I want to hear. I'll let you know how it goes on Friday. Going to swap the cracked/covered dash out for the used uncracked dash & relamp all the guages with the #53 bulbs. Thanks!
