Thanks. Yes I bought from Don M. Rising Sun Racing is his roadster business. Seems to be a true Datsun guy. His whole garage is full of Datsun stuff! He has a very nice Datsun Roadster.

Pick her up next weekend! The headlight covers trim was old and he took it off. I was trying to figure what to replace it with! For an east coast car she is in great shape. Looking forward to driving her home through the mountains next weekend! My son was mad I didn't take him with me today. He can ride home with me next week! The Tokico HP's and Eibachs really drove well.

Drove up & checked the '71 240Z out today. Met Don the owner who pretty much grew up around a Datsun dealership. His Dad owned the dealer till he passed away and Don & his family sold out. He still works as a salesman at his families former dealership. He has a sweet Datsun 2000 convertible. He redid the car from ground up doing everything but the paint/body work. He deals alot with the Datsun 2000 crowd selling alot of parts etc. As far as the 240Z goes it was just as he claimed. The mileage less than 37000 miles is believable. The brake pedal appears hardly used. He changed it out and showed me the originals. The car has matching motor and VIN tags. The dash has a 3 inch crack in it but a new in the box dash comes with it. The body is rust free and the paint passable. It was repainted years ago in White Imron. There are a few small dings in the top of the fenders but I think a PDR guy can get those out. Bumpers look good and dent free. The Panasports make the car IMHO. Car drove & idled well and sounded sweet. The AC compressor works but a low pressure line has a leak in it so that will need to be replaced. Car still has original can of touchup paint that came with the car in '71! It also has the original tool kit & wheel chocks too! The interior vinyl panels are a bit faded but he already bought the paint to redo them and I get that as well. He is throwing in all new front bumper rubber trim, pack of 100 blue panel rivets. The seats have been redone with Classic Datsun kits. I think I did OK. Car is not in need of anything right off and can be enjoyed as a driver. I'll get the AC fixed and probably have my mechanic look her over as well as get my PDR guy on the few dings.

I assume the '72 & '71 are the same correct? I wonder about the hot air thing. MSA & others sell ramflo & other individual exposed air cleaners that look about the same is this setup. Opinions? e_racer1999 shot me a pic & what you want for your air cleaner. Thanks!

No the 280Z is my son's soon as he is old enough to drive. Might have to sell the 350Z...............2003 350Z White Track with 5900 miles, Koni SA shocks & 350Evo sway bars. Anyone interested? Looking for around $29K.

I asked about the air cleaner. He said the previous owner has individual filters on the car. The filter there now is a K & N. Wonder if a full air cleaner is in order? Car has a header & 2.5" exhaust. Anyone ever seen a filter layout like this?

I'll know Friday! Yea it looks pretty good. The guy has done a bunch of work after buying the car. It sat in storage for many years. Thus the low miles. He was/is a Nissan mech and still works for his Dad's Nissan dealership in Bristol. He specializes in the Datsun 2000 roadster but followed this car and was finally able to buy it. Seems to be a straight shooter. He has redone all the things I had to have done on the '78 like tie rods, hoses, weatherstripping, seats, fuel tank, fuel lines, master cylinder, brakes & brake lines, Tokico HP shocks, Eibach springs, wheels & tires etc. He has over $4600 dollars in new parts receipts and did the labor himself. Most of the parts are Nissan because he gets them cheaper. He paid around $10K for the car.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4543980579&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT Car didn't meet reserve. I live about 2.5 hrs. from the car so I called about it. I placed a deposit to hold the car till I look and drive her. He wanted $12.5K and we settled on $11.8 and this includes a brand new in the box factory dash and the old steering wheel/pad. We'll see.....
