  1. I don't know a guy alone in the garage with some baby oil? I don't think you'd get a whole lot done!

I didn't know they had paved roads in Arkansas :hurt: Yeh that sucks .... not necessarily the ticket but how stupid people, situations and bills come along to kick down your 2?0z sand castel! I have actually calculated financial models that included varibles like "if I get rid of the wife and kids I could get those headers now".....I had to go back to formula when I considered child support! Take a couple of these babies and you will be alright: http://nicklewis.smartcampaigns.com/node/175
  3. I have a new found respect for anyone that works in the auto body business. I've been sanding on my old z for 2 months and just when I thought I had everything right I sprayed the color. It looked like shat! So I sanded for another month. I read an article on block sanding and the guy claims that he's been sanding for 30 years and stated he was either an expert or just stupid! I would classify him as mentally deranged! SANDING SUCKS.......but as they say "a good paint job is in the prep work" and I can now say from experience that painting a car is easy but it truly is the prep work that counts!! As the master of shortcuts I can tell you there are none in painting. Anyway, here it is 2005 350z liquid silver WV2. :knockedou http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=14465&sort=1&cat=500&page=1
  4. I have an AFM boot that is in good shape but it's hard as a rock. Is there anything that you can do to restore rubber to make it more pliable?

  9. I am in the process of painting my z and I was wondering if anyone could recomend a method and a product that will be best to polish the clear coat once it's done. How long after spraying the clear shoud I wait? I have a HarborF polisher.

Actually I just bought a mint condition 1980 280zx engine that has been in storage for 25 years. Only had 1900 miles on it. So the BCDD that I need is for an 80 and it's located on the intake not on the throttle body. See diagram above also see the engine at: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=14002 Follow the pvc hose to the left end of it, go straight up and you will see a flat spot on the intake manif. that's where it mounts.

Thanks guys. I just called Nissan and they want $323 for a new one! eeeeeebay !!!!
  12. I have a 76 280z and this is part of the throttle body. I just aquired an 1980 zx engine but the BCDD is missing. It is located on the bottom of the intake manifold and not the throttle body (see diagram). I was just curious what this does and if there another name it goes by? http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=14001

As much as I don't want to diddle around with the motor I think I will pull the pan and valve cover to take a look. I could lube everything up at the same time. It should be interesting to know what happens over time anyway. I'll post some pics in a few days.

Thanks JZM. Yeh my current engine has a N42 head but god this engine is so purdy I hate to strap that old thing on it. I was reading the performance tips on this page (below) and from what he says is that the N42 was designed for dished pistons and it may cause the engine to ping. I think that I'm going to drop in as is and take it for a spin. I'll let you know how it feels in comparison. Referbing the N42 will always be an option. Wonder what would happen if you had a machine shop rip out those liners and port it? I just bought a square port header on ebay a few months ago ... go figure. Here's that site: http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/head.html Thanks again EZ

Thanks JZM! Actually I have a 76 280z so I think that the existing AFM, wiring and computer should work. Do you think that if there was fuel in the injectors that it gummed up? Now thats twice I have heard about building up oil pressure.... Do use a starter switch and just turn the engine for while?

I just won this engine on ebay. I was getting ready to rebuild my engine until I found this and the guy selling it was just around the corner from me. I went by to check it out. THe story is that this engine came out of a totaled 79 ZX Non-turbo in 1980 with only 1900 miles where it has been in storage ever since. If the external condition is any indicator, this engine is in absolutly mint condition. Every hose, bolt, paint all the yelow cadium is in absolutley mint condition. My question is what should I consider before I try to start the engine and how will this transplant into a 76z? I know that the head uses the crappy round port exhausts but what might be some of the other incompatabilities? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7948878077&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Yeh if your getting ready to reinstall everything on your computer then that is a great time to load Kaza and grab everything you want before your computer becomes completely consumed. Make sure that you virus check the files that you downloaded before copying them on the your good/rebuilt pc. Most of the bad stuff that comes off there are hidden in MP3 or video files. Better yet just buy the CD... it will cost you allot less than what it will cost you to fix your pc if you don't know how to do it yourself. By the way watch where you get your spybots and ad-aware program from. There are download sites now that are imitating them to to install ...... you guessed it more spyware. use a reputable site like download.com or follow the links to the download sites provided by the manufacurers site.

Oh Yeh XP Service Pack 2 not only has popup blocker but also includes a firewall. Both of whicj you should have. Especially if you have DSL.

Blocking the popups is only hiding the problem. Your computer constantly displaying and calling popup sites affects you computer's performance in many ways (sort of like putting a 1" muffler on your Z). You have to find the root cause of the popups. You should run both Ad-Aware and Spybots Search & Destroy. If that solves your problem then make sure that you continue to update the definition files for both Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D at least weely and re-scan your computer constantly. You will be suprised to see how much crap these idiots are putting on your computer. Some popup producing problems are a result of a virus like program that has installed itself on your computer. They are pretty hard to get off. NEVER -EVER -EVER install Kaza on your computer. Kaza turns your computer into a server for anything that you have downloaded from them and opens up your computer for anyone to send you crap you don't want. It also significantly effects the performance of your internet connection because your bandwidth is being used to pass files to other computers. If you have Kaza installed, uninstall it and delete or move the directory somewhere else. Back to the popups, Do a Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select Task List and go to the Processes Tab. Look at each process (there's a few) and search each one Google. There are sites out there that will define and rate each processes security risk and have further information on how to get it off if it's bad. Hope that helps and PM me if you need any help.....I work with these problems every day.
