forgot to mention i lifted the carpet to check the inside floor pans and the carpet underlay was damp on the pass side and soaking wet on the driver side.(what's with that) the floor pans looked o k though

i took a look at this z about 2 months ago. 3hr. drive for me ~ 200 miles. i called before i drove up and asked ? one of witch if it had undercoating. he said no. he was asking $10,000 can.= to $7500 US.got there and it didn't live up to his description. rear interior panel cracked also plastic panel driverside behind rear sidewindow cracked. tried wipers( didn't work) his explanation he disconnected it because he didn't drive in the rain.(yea right) also car was undercoated.(or heavy black chassie paint)how can u tell if no rust unless u have x-ray vision. he was going to replace the diverside frame rail because it was punky and was going to do both rails even though the other side was o k.(gotta be rust else where if rail is punky) also the crease in the front of the hood didn't look right. it wasn't straight.(the very front edge) the rockers looked o k but the curve of the rockers didn't match the curve of the quarter panels(could this mean they were replaced?)had a P90 head. i asked to go for a spin and he wanted me to make a bonified offer first.he didn't want to entertian joyriders.( HEY I JUST DROVE 3 HR TO GET HERE)how do u make an offer without driveing it? he finally agreed and HE jumps into the driver seat. we go around the block reaching speed of 50mph. get back to his place and i offer him $7500 can= to $5600 U S. he was insulted(is 75% insulting?) and said he'd give it to his boy before he took that offer.( i'm waiting for a counter offer , didn't get it) don't get me wrong, it's a nice z but i've been learning from this club and the experts say i should get more car for this kind of money, so i passed.(besides i don't like white) just proves pics can be deceiving.this guy offers u an out of the deal if u are not satisfied. sounds reputable but he keeps your $1000US downpayment.nice days work if u can get it. still zless in canada

go to collector car trader on line and buy it for $5500, which is the asking price or offer a titch less.

heck, there's a full dash and gauges on ebay right now with 10minutes left going for $530. part it out and get more than the $1000 your asking if time is no problem.

nothing to do with your meeting but would any of your members be familar with a yellow 240 z at P J classics in clearwater? (it has the headlite buckets painted black) i called about 2 month ago and the saleman said he'd get back to me but didn't. at the time they were asking $10,000. now on collector car trader on line they're asking $7500. thanks for helping me out.

how difficult is it to use modern technology or after market componets instead of orignal? is the cost still about the same?

if u got a connection with a garage mechanic ask to use the lift for 5 minutes and slip him $10. safe and easy, that's if u can drive it there.

need pics of frame rails- hatch sill- under battery- door bottoms-rockers- dog legs- floor pans- etc etc.

pics can be deceptive., but this z looks like a 8 out of 10.( one and a half year old paint can hide rust.)if i'm buying i think fair price should be about $7000.if i'm selling i'd want $9000. should sell somewhere inbetween IMO

love the datsun orange. how did u find a 70/240z in canada? about a month ago i drove up to richmond hill to look at a 72/240z.the guy described it as mint for $10,000.it wasn't in as good a shape as described but it was worth maybe 7 to me.that same day on the way home i saw a 240z rusted out in an old delapitated gas station. i turned around and took some pics of it. turn out to be a 1970 vin #04044 from tennesee. when i figure out how to post pics on this site i will. don't know if this is a significant low vin# or not?

in my search for a 240z one of my requirerments is air conditioning.90% of cars with A/C doesn't work.mostly seller says only needs this or that.(usually a charge)making it seem like an easy fix. if it was an easy fix you'd think seller would do the repair before hand. how difficult is it to have operable air and keeping it working cold? is the old technology obsolete or can new technology be adapted?should i dismiss a potential z because it doesn't have air? any opinions?

this does not mean rebuilt? why go through the labor of resealing and not rebuilding? you got the engine torn apart anyways.

there's a 72 240z for sale in phoenix AZ described with a resealed engine. what the heck is that? is anyone familiar with this car (yellow $6000). looks like a good deal if it weren't so far away form me. listed in collector car trader
