Tripple SU/DGV Intake Mani FS
Something you don't see everyday.... I was driving along and pulled into a stores parking lot, and this crazy old man came over and asked me about my Z. He said he had an intake for tripple carbs...that he would sale me. My heart Jumped...cause at the time I was looking for a tripple weber set-up. When I went to go get them it was a strange mani that he bought back in 1980...and it was for the tripple SU set-up. I bought them anyways... Well, I was going to give the set-up a try, but when I did my swap I went ahead and went full fuel-injection...so I figuared I would just take these to go get polished up because they were a mess....well, I got them back yesterday...and they look hot. I was planning to list them on Ebay and see how much I can get for them, but I figuared I would see if anyone here would like to give me an offer before I list them. Here's what they looked like when I bought them, I'll post some pics of them cleaned up when I get home. http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/albums/album512/abq.jpg http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/albums/album512/abr.jpg http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/albums/album512/abs.jpg http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/albums/album512/abt.jpg http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/albums/album512/abu.jpg http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/albums/album512/abv.jpg http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/albums/album512/abw.jpg

Took my Z drifting the other day...again
Just got back from the event...I hope a lot of people took pic's...I'll post them when they start surfaceing on the net.... Anyways...I had the car nearly set up perfect.....except the LSD and the tires... It handled great, kicked out when I wanted it to , but it just wouldn't stay out or it stayed to far out...and I was in a spin.... But I don't feel bad...I still had a great time, and met a lot of cool people. Two real drifters took my Z out for a run or two...and they did just the same as I did.....spin city. They just pointed out that it was also perfect, plenty of torque, good speed, nice and solid car...but the tire choice was to poor for the car...with the open diff, a decent drift is possible....just not with new Azenis's 195/60/14 on the front, and new Dunlop G/T Qualifiers 225/60/14 on the back...the prodrifters said the best way for this car to drift is to have...I dropped my jaw to the ground when they said this....is to have sticky tires all the way around....with a low profile, as in a 17 inch rim with 40's on it. ahhwell...I still got to play with the car, and let other people play with it....it was a lot of work, and all the work payed off haveing all the people at the event give me props for the car.... I guess whats next for the car...can go two ways.....clean up the rust areas I found and do the body work, and spend some real money and get the car properly painted and have it be the garage queen/week-end cruiser.......or get a LSD, plan out a turbo, and get more tires and rims, and get it ready for next year and get as much pratice and get good with it....

Took my Z drifting the other day...again
Tom, I Pm'ed a buddy in Auzzy , and if he connects with you..it's up to him. He's in that country, and he knows of a few venues to set you up with. Anyways...I'm almost ready...Just got to install the new clutch, and do a little more work, and the car will be good to go. I got the brakes all done yesterday, so new everything all the way around, flushed the sytems, and got to some more bushings....and yup....with no lube...they squeeeeeeeeek like hell. some more pics of stuff

Took my Z drifting the other day...again
My buddy has a Borg Warner...I'll see if he might let me use it... I have the rear diff availible from the 78 280Z...but no luck and no money to get a better diff on short notice... I do need a clutch....or at least a decent Pressure plate... I was looking at ACT...but my bank account says no.....untill thrusday morning, and overnighting it would be cutting it to close to install and break in. No strut bars yet, but I might be able to borrow a front Strut bar from my buddy... If anyone in the CT area wants to join me on this venture...and has a few parts laying around that they wouldn't mind loaning me...I'm up for anything.. I'm just tired of seeing 197,386,874 240SX's at these event...and I want to add some real class to this drifting sport.

Took my Z drifting the other day...again
Update: I have an event down in MD this next week-end on the 17th.... I had a lot of time to prep the car and collect some stuff. I got the old L26 carbed motor out, and dropped in an L28 with fuel injection, oversized pistons, bored, hot cam, header, fairly new autozone clutch, electric ignition, full set of tokico 5 way Illumina's, Tokico 1" drop springs, full poly bushing set (half installed) 2 new Azenis for the front, and a bunch of junk tires for the rear. I still need to get some more stuff, as in a decent race seat and a harness, or I might cut a hole in a spare seat I have here and install the harness I put into the AE86 I built, and possibly find a good cheap clutch that will grip a little better than the autozone one that I have....but hopefully it will break in on the 6 hour drive down there to the event. but I am also still a virgin to this setup..so any more hints would be very helpfull. Also...which would be better for the drift..a 4 speed or 5 speed trany?

Mikuni Jet's and venturi's FS/TRADE/WTB
It was an SR5...but I did the full conversion swap to make it a GT-S...took about a year to do....then I wasn't happy with the normal Fuel Injection, so I bought some carbs....and built up the engine. Everything else is completly done...

Mikuni Jet's and venturi's FS/TRADE/WTB
I'm sure Todd is the best there is...that's why I e-mailed him... :classic: IF your offer is serious...then I will do the trade.... But I don't need 6 blocks...just 4 and not 2 :stupid: I was short on cash at the time I wrote this post...now I can fully afford the items from Todd, but then if I did buy them...then I would have extra's laying around collecting dust, or find their way into the massive piles of spare parts that I never sort or clean-up any more. If this trade can help you and me out with some minor problems, then I'm all for it. If I can get this car to at least run decently, and get me in the area that I need to be to actually get it nearly tuned....then I'm happy...sorry I don't have the extra 2 sets of jet's/blocks.....it is only a 4 banger. but a little 4 banger that has the possibility to really bang some corners  You wouldn't happen to have any larger venturie's would you?

Wanted....CT area...Pana'a, Wat's, rims...
I'm in the market for some Watanabe rims, but Panasport rims will also be good for what I want...I already lost my arm and leg on other parts ventures...so I'm down to only an arm for these, and I'm saveing my other leg for some carbs.... PM me, Email me, post here with what you have that you can spare to get rid of, and a decent price for them. I'd like something in the 14" area...6.0 6.5 7.0 8.0...the wider the better...I got flares and they are hard to fill. :cheeky: I have two 14X6 Watanabe RS-8, in Gunmetal center and polished lip...I'd like to find 2 more at a decent price..... Plus I am in the need of some tires as well

280Z motor into a 260Z...
I believe it's a 78..... I guess I'll just strip the car completely down, store all the parts and clean them up and build it properly when I have time and room. But for now I guess I'll just swap the cam and hope the DGV's can keep up with it. But a full list for this swap would be helpful.

280Z motor into a 260Z...
I know it's prolly been asked before and stuff, my searches don't come up with too much info...so I'll ask again.. I have a stock 260Z, with DGV's, and I have a 280Z with fuel injection....and I want to swap the FI motor into the 260Z. I'm aware that the fuel pump would be a deffinate swap, and I was thinking of just getting a MSD 42 GPH pump to put inline to save the time in swapping the full fuel sytem...IE...tank, pump, fuel lines...etc. I have a freind that can swap the wires over in a few hours for the ecu and the full harness...from what he says.... But what is really needed for this swap...from everyones experiance? The engine from the 280 has the oversized pistons, big cam, and electric ignition, with a header, and some head work done to it. It is a fast and powerfull engine that was keeping up nicely to a 240sx with an SR20det on the road. I'm building the car to get a little sideways in some drifting events, and to make it around the autocross course a few times a year...then it will be just a daily driver after that. The 280 also has a 5-speed tranny connected to it, but I also have one hell of a smooth shifting 4 speed in the 260...and I would also like to know which trany is prefered for drifting/autocross/dailydriving. The 280Z has to much rust and need to be sent to the junkyard in the sky

Mikuni Jet's and venturi's FS/TRADE/WTB
I have 2 44pph Mikunis...and they have the: the emulsion tube is #8 the botton tip on the tube is #165 the tube cap on top is #210 and the smaller jet in the corner is #57.5 the Tube inside the Emulsion tube is M the jet on the bottom of the E-tube is #57.5 The Ventury is a #34 I need.....: the emulsion tube is #OE the botton tip on the tube is #160,155,150 the tube cap on top is #200 and the smaller jet in the corner is #52.5-55 the Tube inside the Emulsion tube is OE the jet on the bottom of the E-tube is #52.5-55 The Ventury a #37mm or bigger up to 41mm I haven't studied up to much on this, but from what emails I sent to one place....that's what they recommend...so I need them, but I'm a little short on the cash flow to buy them all brand new....I'm still in the testing and tuning area...so the cheaper the better.... Or I will trade the setup that I have for a set(2) of tuned 40-44 Mikuni's or 40-45 Webers....for a high comp 4age...I've already invested to much money into this set-up to trade for crap...so only real offers please. Here's the emails that decided the numbers.... I wrote: DearSir/Maam. I have a 1985 Toyota Corolla RWD AE86 car, that I built the engine for. I used a 7-rib USDM Blue top block and head, but put the JDM high compression Red top internals in it. I should be near 10.3:1 CR. I also have two Mikuni 44pph side draft carbs on the engine. I realized that they may be too big for the motor, but I got a decent deal on them, they work great and run good, after I cleaned them up about 5 times and rebuilt them. But they just will not run properly on the engine. After playing around with them for a month, I ran into a gentleman that said that the carbs are fine for the size of the engine, and they just flow too much fuel with the mains that I have. After I took them apart, I noted all the little numbers on the parts. the emulsion tube is #8 the botton tip on the tube is #165 the tube cap on top is #210 and the smaller jet in the corner is #57.5 the Tube inside the Emulsion tube is M the jet on the bottom of the E-tube is #57.5 The Ventury is a #34 Does this sound right for a 1.6 liter High comp 4 cylinder engine. I am trying to set the car up to run and make good power at 5,500-7,000 RPM, for drifting and autocross. And any suggestion on my next size or sizes down or up, and if you have them in stock or can get them, and send them as soon as possible, would be appreciated. Thank for your time. Clayton Pace. And the Return E-mail : Clayton, You are close but based on the Mikuni Manual and your setup and usage, I suggest you do 2 things before you rejet, 1.) change the e-tube (actually called jet block ) to the OA Jet block. This is what is normally used for a performance application in the 44's. It has better fuel flow and transition characteristics. 2.) Your venturi size @ 34mm is too small for the top end. You need at least 37mm. You won't sacrifice any mid-range with this and you will open up the top end to breathe better. Our 1.6 liter GT4 motors actually run 41mm venturis but we redline @ 8600R's. The bottom tip is the fuel jet. @ 165, you might be a bit too fat but you will need to read your plugs to be sure. You should have 160,155,150 for tuning purposes. The jet on top is the air jet, you should probably be running a 200 there. The other jet is the pilot jet. You have 57.5 and the book recommends a 52.5 for stock application. 55 is probably just about right. All parts mentioned are in stock. Prices follow; Jet blocks $22.95 each 37mm Venturis $15 each Fuel, air, pilot jets $4.50 each Mikuni Tuning and service manual $10 Depending on numbers of jets and other items, we can probably make you a package deal and throw in a copy of the Manual. Shipping is $5 bucks. Paypal to this e-mail addy is fine. Let us know what we can do to help you out. Thanks, Todd Walrich I'm in CT, so if your in the area and have anything, you can come and help me swap around with on these carbs...all the help and parts will be appreciated Thanks In Advance Airjockie

Polyeurethane Bushings- to squeek or not squeek
I got the kit, and I'm about to do the install in a week or so....it came with the lube... But when I did the same poly bush install on my CRX a few years ago, I had to burn out all the old bushings, and while the metal areas was still very hot, I slide the poly's in and I guess the metel was still hot enough that even without grease they slid right in and they formed right to the areas where the old bushings were like glued in....I hever had a squeek from that car...and other people with the same car uses the lube, and they always complain about the noise.... I wonder if the Z's could work the same way?

CT Area...74 260Z Engine and 2 set's of DGV's FS
I have a 260Z that I'm going to yank the motor out from...and this motor is a really good running motor...it is currently my daily driver, it gets about 14-18 mpg, city/highway, on the odometer it's reading 80,000...but I can't varify if this is 80K or 180K...but I'm shooting at 80K, because the car was in a guys garage for 13 years......anyways...the engine is still in the car, but with-in the next few day's/week's I'm pulling it out and replaceing it with a 280Z fuel-injected engine, with oversized pistons, cam, header...etc... So if your local and want to see, hear, drive, touch, taste...etc the engine to varify that it runs and will suffice for your needs, then when I yank it you can come pick it up if you plan on buying it. I have 2 Weber 32/36 DGV's with the Cannon intake on it right now, and another set up of the same thing waiting for a rebuild kit... I know I could list it on Ebay and make a decent penny off of these items...but I'm to lazy to try Ebay, and I hate shipping stuff. I also have a 280Z that I am striping down to send to a Junkyard...it had to much rust :disappoin But for right now I am taking offers on these items...and be a little reasonable...no low-balling please... I can be reached at airjockie2002@/_remove-me-first_/yahoo.com Trades are also welcome :classic:

Took my Z drifting the other day...again
Before any runs, I'd set the idle on the DGV carbs to about 1500rpms, then use the choke to keep the idle down while in the staging area. Then the powerover drifts were easy and fun to do...but the front tires were not helping at all...even though they were Azenies, the pavement was hot and the tires I had up front were getting bald...so very little grip The rear tires were some really old tiers that this one guy had in his garage, old, dry, weathered, and they smoked a lot, on the 4th run I swaped some Watanabes up front with ES100's and had plenty of grip, but couldn't get the rear to slide around like the first run....so for the overweight car with little power, tires and a real suspension is the only way to get a decent drift..and the driver also helps...But I still had fun I was trying to do feints, and thats about all you can do with the car to get it to kick out, but the sloppy suspension just either kicked it out too far or not far enough, and my thottle control sucks...I was trying way to hard at times or not hard enough during the other times... As soon as I can find the time, the car is getting the L28 with oversized pistons, fuel injection, electric ignition, cam, full set of poly bushings, better front brakes, tokico Illuminas all the way around, Ground Control 1" lowwering springs and a few other sweet parts....but I will still be a one-tire-fire unless someone has a cheap LSD they want to sell me :nervous:
