Hey guys, I am debating to get rid of my p79 head and get a p90 head for my F54 block I am putting in my 1970 240Z. I can get the head from a dismantler for $150.00. Is it worth the money and will I notice a great improvement over the p79? I do not plan to race, but I want a fast every day car. Thanks, Rick.

Hello everyone, I am building a fun 1970 240Z. Would you all recommend the MSA headers and 2 and a 1/4 in pipe for a built 280 block for the most performance. Let me know. Thanks, Rick.
  3. Sounds like rich carbs. But I could be wrong.

What you want is a two stage Acryllic Eurathane. It is the new stuff from PPG. Two to four coats of color and three to four coats of clear. With the many coats of clear, if you have to color sand at a later date, you can. After a month, you can apply a teflon coating from Meguires. You should never have a problem. Have fun.

Rumor has it that the electric fuel pump from a mid 80's Mazda RX-7 works well. Is this true? Would be a real cheap alternative to a new electric fuel pump. Rick.

Block off the small vent line at the bottom of the tank. Route the front vent line to the front of the car. The large vent on top of the tank goes directly to the filler hose. Thats it. It works great. Rick.

The car is a 82 280ZX. The entire car is all rusty (metal has holes everywhere). Kept all the good stuff and got rid of the car. Thank you for all the info on the dif.

Hello everyone. How do I know if the R200 I just got, is good or not? It is from a car that sat for 20 years and only has 36,000 miles on it. Let me know, thanks. Rick.

Was just given a 1982 280ZX that has been sitting for 20 years. The body is rusted beyond repair, but the engine only has 36,000 miles on it. This is the engine I would like to put in my 1970 Z (without the fuel injection). What should I do before running the engine?

Yesterday was a very hot day in San Diego. Drove the car all day. Ran it to empty and filled it up, still ran great. I love this car. Rick.

Well gentlemen, I started the Z without the vapor tank and it ran great. Problem solved. I will have to take some pictures and post them. Very cool solution. Rick.

Have not started the car or filled the tank yet. Will let everyone know this Sunday.

Possibly, but early Z's do not have charcoal canisters.

Well gang, I have modified my gas tank to get rid of the vapor tank. I did everything Gary suggested. I even came up with a low cost solution to the expensive line from Nissan. I went to Home Depot and bought a 3 ft. flexable stainless steel line. On one side I used a 5/8 adapter and on the other line I used a 3/4 adapter. I used a 2 in. rubber fuel line on either side and clamped it. It is easily bent and holds it shape. Blocked off the lower vapor line, ran the thicker line (stainless steel) to the fuel neck and ran the other line to vent line that runs to the front of the car, whereby eliminating the need for a vapor tank. I will start the car this Sunday and see how everything works. I will let everybody know the outcome. By the way, the stainless steel line was $11.00. Rick.

I need a center console embellisher (the plate under the choke lever on an early Z car)

Gary, thank you for the info. I emailed you my email address. If you have that diagram on file, I would love to see it. Rick.

Thank you. Do I have to install Nissan fuel lines or can I put store bought fuel lines on the Z. And, will this solve my stinky interior? Also, the early Z car has a plastic vapor tank and the later models have a metal one. Which is better?

Is it possible to override the fuel vapor tank at the rear of a 1970 240z?

Looking to put an 83 280ZX engine with a p-90 head in my 240z. The question I have is concerning the hydralic tappets. Will I have as much performance with this engine as with valves that need adjusting?
