question for enrique, or anyone who could answer it. ive been ripping apart my car trying to find out why the air flow is so low coming from my vents. i was playing with the controls and realized that the air flap never send all the air to the AC. it either sends it all down to the heater when set at "fresh", "rec" or "def" or the flap stops half way when set at "a/c", "bi level" or "fresh". is this the problem? isnt the flap supposed to send all the air to the air condition if set at "a/c" or "vent"?

i have the same exact problem. at the moment my car is parked in the garage, im waiting for her to cool off then i will go in and seal all the hoses with silicon. my uncle replaced the blower in his golf with a more powerful one, now its amazing. i also heard that honda blowers work, does anyone know which year or have any more information about that?
  5. no way, its an original plate, thats like saying, screw the 240z, go with the 350 it has a smoother ride!

  7. ok i called a local office and they told me that the old plates are not re-issued. then i asked about the restoration... they didn't have an answer but assumed that it was illegal. told me to call some non-emergency police number or something.
  8. ok thanks for the info everyone, i couldnt find anything on the web either but i will call them during the week and find out. im gonna do it either way but i know i need to order new stickers first. now that im taking a real close look at them, it seems that it could easily be done with some tape and an xacto knife. ill keep you guys updated

ok so i figured it out... it was the fuel pump but im still a little confused. i spent my saturday under my car in the movie theater parking lot changing the fuel pump and i didnt have anyone to help me so i couldnt test it with a bulb or anything since there was no one there to turn the ignition key. so after being soaked in gasoline, i got the new part installed and tried to start it up. "F***" sais marc after trying repeatedly. it wouldnt start so i decided it was an electric problem. i then realized that the fuel hose was bent in a way that the pump couldnt suck any fuel. i noticed this before i changed the pump but i figured it was ok since it had always been like that and worked fine. i had to cut the hose short so the fuel could flow more smoothly and voila, she started up and i drove her home! i tested the old one with a 12 volt battery and the motor ran so i thought the problem was only with the fuel hose. i put the old one back on... didnt work! im guessing that the old one was working extra hard to suck the fuel through that bent hose and finally wore out, now not sucking with enough pressure i suppose... how do the stock fuel hoses look? are they made in an "L" shape? the one i have on my car doesnt really seem to make sense.

thanks chris, i tried something like that and discovered that it is an electric problem. i was told that its often the relay that goes bad. where is that located on the car?
  16. i bought an automatic antenna over 2 years ago on ebay from this guy: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=boobonic&frm=1728 i paid 20 bucks plus 5 for shipping. i love it! it looks a lot like the original. he used to have a lot of them, the listing said he bought all of them up from radio shack before they stopped making them. it came in its original blue radio shack box. i dont know about those new ones for 30 bucks on ebay. they might be just as good.

yesterday my car lost power as it would when you run out of gas. i unplugged the fuel hose from the fuel filter and nothing came out when i tried to start the car. then i unplugged the hose before the fuel filter thinking that maybe the filter was clogged. still nothing. im convinced its the fuel pump but i was told it could be a problem with the relay or some electric problem. how can i test this?

i just whipped out my msa catalog, it looks like the covers for 74-feb76 are the same and they changed for the rest of the 76's. then the 77's and 78's have their own also.

your dad sounds just like mine did after i expressed my desire to own a z when i was 16. my first was a 1976 280z. for sure fun but the mileage was pretty high, about 250,000. it seemed like i had to keep on replacing things every few weeks... brake cylinders, alternator, water pump, etc... never broke down though of course that sucks but i got to learn how things worked and how to replace them when they went bad.. ive had my current 280z for a couple years with no problems at all. its all about the condition of the car...

i dont have the 76 anymore but i remember wanting to trade the two cars' pairs of covers because the ones in my 75 were cracked. i just remember the covers being incompatible. the lever was pushed down a significant amount between the 75 and 76. is it difficult for you to recline your chair because its pushed up against the seat of the chair? the one on the 76 didnt even touch the seat

ive been looking for replacement mechanism covers for 2 years! for sure put me down. i dont know if someone else already pointed this out but the covers dont match from 75 to 76. rob, as you know when you pull up the lever to adjust the seat, it comes in contact with the seat itself. when i had a 76, the lever was set lower so it was easier to adjust and didnt touch the vinyl.
