Go Veggie
I am wondering... where did the $40k go? Is it in a briefcase in the boot or does he using a different currency?

Nissan OEM Floor Pan. Unbelievable!
I didn't know who Tokyo Rose was so I did a quick search to find info about her. Quite an interesting and somewhat sad story for her. Thanks for inspiring me to learn Steve

Lovely 1800sss on ebay: sorta Z-content
You're right - that's gorgeous! Maybe you can ask the seller about its history? I doubt it was recently imported as these cars I can imagine would be worth more in Japan than America. Clearly a restoration or a low-mileage car. The paint looks in great nick from the photos!! Gorgeous car. thanks for sharing!

One of my trucks was rear ended by an 18 wheeler today
It was 5 Porsches actually! 3 Speedsters, a 356 A Coupe and a later model (930 I think) Cabriolet. I heard that the black one you pictured had around $150k sunk into it - concourse car :surprised

C2110 for sale

Poll: Should we prevent gallery downloads?
Of course! Unfortunately that does not work in practice. The question really is "should right-click be disabled" - is that right Mike? Personally, I still haven't decided :cross-eye ... There are pros and cons for each, some of which you guys might not have thought about so perhaps it might be a good idea to think it through first: Pros for disabling right-mouse button - Image theft is made more difficult. - Your car pictures wont get spread around the Internet (as much) without due credit. A lot of the time pictures are spread around like this simply because people don't know any better. With this implemented, they will. - You can still save the image, just wait for the toolbar to pop up on the top-left! OR PM the user (can we link the photopost system with the forums Mike?). Cons for disabling right-mouse button - You can still save the image!! Most people who can create websites can get around the disabled right-click. So we're not actually stopping those who steal the images and post it on their website with ill-intent, only those who do it without knowing it's not wanted (the majority of cases anyway I think). - New (innocent) users who don't know about the loophole might not figure it out. - Less convenient for us. That's what I can think of. Please, if anyone has anything to add (or subtract!) to that please say so. This is a discussion, not an argument. I hope it stays that way! :cheeky: (still haven't decided)

In with the 280ZX Coupe
They take it all for granted, them lousy septics!!! Imagine a wrecker yard with a Z in it!!! And not a 2+2

RB30DE V RB25DET
Guys, if you click the image you can see a larger version Only 4 HP more, but it's constantly more throughout the rev range plus you've got 300 kg to spare! Awesome.

4,900 original miles
I don't think odometers work quite like that.. I can see the appeal in a low KM car, but personally not for me! The purpose of a car is to be driven, not looked at. Thanks for the link Marc! Definitely unique

In with the 280ZX Coupe
Mike, yeah, unfortunately we Aussies only got the 2+2 models all up until the 350Z!! Richard, I agree! The 280ZX 2-seater can look pretty mean, but if you're importing a car from Japan I could think of some others I'd like more :devious: Make sure you take into account the opportunity cost!!

Cheap Shipping Company in Japan
Try asking for a fast-delivery service - AirMail perhaps? You're collecting quite a few parts I see!! Good Have you got the flares from the Melbourne people yet?

Cheap Shipping Company in Japan
I would do that (and I have done it too!) - have you picked up your grille recently?? They are not light!! It will still need to be shipped by a method other than regular parcel post, though.

Cheap Shipping Company in Japan
Rob, I don't completely understand how it works either so I'm sorry if I am confusing!! The way I understand it is there is regular parcel post, EMS, or you can use a shipping company (perhaps EMS is a shipping company, I do not know). Over a certain size, regular parcel post will not work. This usually takes 6-8 weeks to arrive as it all comes by boat - the guy might not be dicking you around! EMS as I understand is by plane, usually takes 1-2 weeks. Much more expensive though. I had my (FRP!) grille sent via this service (EMS) and it was 8,950 Yen IIRC.

Skyline GT (R?) for sale - Perth
Eric, I'm dreading the day I go tyre shopping for my 14x9's! We do have a higher percentage of old cars still on the road in Australia though, so perhaps it won't be too difficult to find something to fit. On a 12" wide rim how big a tyre would be optimal??

Newbie
Hey now it is a N15 SSS, and he does only want "fair, driveable condition". I don't think it's too much of a stretch, but depends how much the house deposit is!!! Just one thing I noticed in your post Gav, "www.ozdat.com is another good place to look every wednesday it is updated." It's updated at about 11 or 12 PM isn't it? I usually check it on Thursday morning. Just so you're not 6 days late every week, Mike (Method)

Happy Birth day Mr. K!
Happy birthday Mr. K! Wouldn't it be cool if he could visit here and see just how much these cars mean to us? Long live our legend

Cheap Shipping Company in Japan
Are you sure that's EMS, and not Regular Parcel Post? I don't pretend to know the details, but I got my grille shipped over and it wasn't with a shipping company!!

Ripped off?
Yar, that's what I was trying to bring up in post #73 on page 5 and again in post #91 on page 7... But no one really seemed interested to discuss that except Steve (sjcurtis) and James (240znz) - thankyou guys. Gav, Michael (mperdue) also noted the popup toolbar in post #80 on page 6. Perhaps you misunderstood though - I know I did!! (sorry Michael!) It is a loophole that will only stop the "naive computer user" as you said.

GT Badge in Yahoo
It's nice but... I want two!!

Skyline GT (R?) for sale - Perth
Your suspicions are correct! It's only a GT-X (I think), dressed up to "GT-R Specification". It's also got gigantic overfenders, gigantic wheels and what appears to be a very gigantic engine. A bit overdone for my tastes, but definitely looks purposeful!

Ripped off?
Good idea Mike!! That's really the most we can do I think.

Ripped off?
Now THIS is where it starts to get really grey. Firstly, it is an infringement of copyright to modify an image without permission from the original author to do so. Now, once you've modified it, who's is it? If you've just removed the background, it's probably still theirs. If you modify it so much that it's barely recognisable, it could be yours. See how vague it is? How are we to determine just how much we're allowed to 'borrow'?? According to Michael Fulks at http://www.apogeephoto.com/mag1-6/mag1-6mf.shtml : In all cases, it is perfectly legal to make an offline copy of these pictures for solely your own reference. If my understanding of this is correct then Carl, I guess videotaping your favourite show for your own little collection is OK. Is it OK for your friends to watch it with you though?? Hmm... I dont know. The above is just what I've established based on various sources... it may or not be true, but since it's regarding law, it's probably neither!!

Ripped off?
In Internet Explorer and Firefox (at least) this has been disabled in the Galleries. That was the anti-leeching scheme, and it works for those who can't PrtScr and crop! The text watermark is a great thing (thanks Mike!). Does Photopost automatically include a digital watermark also? Generally, disabling the right-mouse-button is like locking your car. It will stop your family getting in without a key, but it won't stop a crook. Personally, I do not like the disabled right-click for this reason. Mike, what's your view on this? Do you think it's an effective tool for stopping image theft??

Cheap Shipping Company in Japan
Hi Rob, Sorry I didn't reply earlier... I got a quote for EMS shipping of your 150cmx30cmx30cm at 13kg box. It should be 17,300Yen (Insured at 20,000Yen). So yes, a fair bit cheaper than with the shipping company. Although, this price does not include customs payments once it arrives in Australia and you'll have to deal with the guys at customs (very simple, all I had to do was fax an invoice proving the value). Ahh! Is it a FRP GT-R grille or the steel one do you know? Why did you buy a GTX grille?? I've got pretty much everything I want from Japan now, except ONE centre cap, and those darn red GT badges.
