Parts Swapping 240K Sedan to Coupe
Welding/riveting the metal into place? What metal? About the globes - no, the sockets are for dual filament bulbs too, there are three wires back and Razor is right about bulb fitting! I asked a Japanese C110 and a C210 owner and the operation seems to be correct. The C210 owner (Ackn) showed me a webpage with pictures for each stage of the lights operation! It was great, and could possibly answer the question of the dual-filament bulb on the outside. When the parkers on a C210 are on, only the outside lights glow. Only when the headlights are turned on do the inner ones go on also. So....... perhaps one filament is for each stage??? I don't know too much about electrics, so I dont know if this makes sense or not. The C110 owner (Akihito) didn't distinguish between parkers and headlights...

Why waste $ on turbo when...?
What I saw yesterday made me laugh so hard I had to go home and get the camera. (if you can't tell, thats really badly done MATTE chameleon paint. It looked like sandpaper)

Parts Swapping 240K Sedan to Coupe
Like I said, both lights are like this, and from pictures it seems that that's how they're meant to be. I replaced a few bulbs that were dead / dull and tried swapping them all about. But this is how they are. Attached is a picture of a sedan... not a GT-R but I think they'd be the same. I also recall seeing on the front cover of a magazine a GT-R with only the inner lights on. This doesn't seem to answer the mystery about the dual filament bulbs on the outside, though. For what its worth... at least some R33's have only the outer lights for braking, as well as at least some R34's. And I saw a Turbo R30 just the other day with the inner lights lighting up only. All a bit fishy though, I've emailed a couple of webmasters from Japanese sites - maybe they will be able to help.

C110/240K coupe over fenders
I have a mate who claims to have seen a blue "GTR" also...... if you could try to track that owner down it'd be great! There's a silver 240K on the coast which is IMMACULATE (from a distance), it looks brilliant in the silver with the Gold Coast sun... Oooh!! I was contemplating painting my bonnet matte black also - I was inspired by that picture of the Fairlady Z and the GC110 on the Gallery here somewhere... I can't wait to see pics! The more I see the lines of hte rear of my car the more I like hte idea of a slammed-down cruiser... but no! Maybe I should get a 4 door for that as well.

C110/240K coupe over fenders
I got the dash panel from Japan, of course! The silver paint would work well! From pictures it seems like a common mod also in Japan - I'd do it too but I'm too much of a perfectionist. :stupid:

There is an anomoly... both pairs of GT-R lights I have are the same, and from various pictures they seem to be correct in operation... HOWEVER! the outer light bulbs are a dual filament bulb also (and socket). But the second filament doesn't get used. Whatever the case, this means that with a bit of altered wiring you should be able to get the outer lights to intensify when braking also, without changing the sockets. I think...

Why waste $ on turbo when...?
We're generalising a lot... but for what its worth, would you rather all ricers today to drive the cars you guys drove?
-
Why waste $ on turbo when...?
There's an interesting angle... food for thought - people go on and on about these 'damn ricers' but 30 years ago was it any better? What with the "horsepower wars" kids had access to all kinds of dangerous machines (true/false?). Moreso than a civic with a fart can, thats for sure. How many of you drove cars from the 1940's back then??? I'm just speculating, how many of you drove the "in" kind of car when you were kids... (this is not starting an argument! I am just curious)

C110/240K coupe over fenders
1:18 KYOSHO KPGC110??? Excuuuuuuuuse me? Is this a new model release or what? While we're talking about fancy bits we're getting, my interior dash panel (brushed steel?) should be arriving soon! The centre console will still be fake woodgrain, but that's ok for now. Also finally found a GT-R badge for the front grille. James is right about modifying a 240K grille - it isn't too different from the GT-R grille, except it weighs a tonne!

On Parkers, and headlights, you'll have 4 red circles light up at the back with the GT-R lights. When you brake, the inner lights become more intense.

What defines a 240Z a classic?
I think it is hard to boil it down to one specific element that makes you love your Z, because I know at least for me it wasn't just one thing that made me love it, it was the entire package. That said, I always loved feeling her fenders just after a good polish... (I always referred to my Z as a "he" but in that case I'd prefer not to!!! )

Which one you like better?
I don't really like the blacked out stainless steel all around the windows... WOLF, I think from the answers you can tell everyone has quite different tastes. In the end it's your own car and you should be building it to YOUR tastes, not anybody elses... Working out what those tastes are isn't easy, though...

240K Rear Bumper
Thanks, that looks right then! Cool thanks

240K Rear Bumper
A reasonably simple question for those who know! Is the rear bumper from a 240K Sedan the same as the one on the Hardtop? As in, are they interchangeable?

Do Headlight Covers get Fogged Up?
The shape of the headlight covers does affect the headlight projection, even without the fogging up. But it is pretty minor, and I guess you could just take off the covers at night if you were travelling a long distance. About the fogging - you COULD try some of that anti-fog interior glass Rain-X - although I'm not sure if it is OK with plastic. It might completely ruin your covers... so READ THE LABEL!
