The Neglected 280ZX?
hehehehe i thought you'd pick up on that... now the 260 2+2 may not be brilliant, but it certainly is worth a bit more than a 2+2 280zx well in my book anyway

Prohibition on Gasoline Containing Lead or Lead Additives for Highway Use
A bit off-track but I need to ask it at some stage and why not hijack this topic ?? ROFL I have been told there is some way to modify the head/engine so it runs on unleaded... something about the valves perhaps? Is this so, and what is involved (ie how much money)? Lead replacement fuel is $$$ and is crap quality these days... if originality isn't such an issue transfering to unleaded might be an option

A certain teacher at my school was brilliant with old sayings (mostly Australian but lots of old British slang too) - he really cracked me up with some of them........ I'd love to have a vocab of little sayings like that, but I guess I was born 40 years to late btw Jerry, fantastic story, as usual!!! I hope you're keeping these in text files so you can bind them all together one day and make a book of short stories!

Looking for first Z car
My car is for sale, but it's in the bracket just below that one I live on the Gold Coast, but it really depends if you want to spend extra $$$ to get one that's perfect or keep the extra $$$ and get one that's a little rough around the edges If you want to spend more money ThatOzzyGuy's car is worth a look - very clean and original. Welcome to the club!!!

The Neglected 280ZX?
Youd need to find one in Japan or somewhere else, first... they didn't sell 2 seater 280ZX's in Australia as far as I know!

What is "backfiring"?
oooooooh that sounds good. Afterfire. Cool.

What is "backfiring"?
Ah, awesome. It's not doing any *real* damage then, it's only a pop and splutter backfire, so no real chance of buldging out the muffler or anything. I was more interested in the cause and I think I know why now! Thank you Goerge, Alan and Mike! p.s. yes it is when I was not touching the accelerator down a hill and the sounds come from the exhaust. Sounds kinda cool anyway, in a rally car kinda way

Does this guy know what he is writing about
The moral of the story? Buy a car magazine!!!

What is "backfiring"?
The Z... I think it might have something ot do with not enough back pressure in the exhaust system??? It's just annoying me that I dont know why it happens.
-
What is "backfiring"?
Ahh OK... so... why does it only happen when I go down a hill? I only have to go down hills when I pick up a friend who lives up a mountain, so it's no biggy

What is "backfiring"?
Hi Backfiring is something that I know about but I'm not 100% sure of WHY it happens and HOW it can be bad for your engine. My car backfires a bit when I am at 3000 or over going down a hill... it sounds kinda cool but I'm not sure how bad it is, if it is at all? Could someone please explain for me and probably some others here too what the cause(s) are for backfiring engines?
