  3. I guess the votes speak for themselves George ROFL
  4. Yeah, most of the Z's there were modified - a couple of stockers but most were modified fairly heavily! Very nice!!

  7. Yeah I am sure that stuff along the side could be original. What I'm saying is it's ugly and ruins the lines of the car. Don't you make precious into a shopping trolley!!!! :finger:
  8. The L engines are unstoppable. In a (lightened) 260Z shell I've seen an L26 do low 10 second quarter miles............ the shell was totally stripped out of course but wasn't tubbed or anything. That's pretty good for a 30 year old engine...

Please let's not turn this one into a debate too.... Very moving story owen, let's all hope the freedom granted by the brave men and women who fought over there will be appreciated.
  10. I've got 2.25" with single Lukey muffler at the tail and mine sounds great But then again I'm one of those "young" people who like to have to turn up the stereo full-bull just to hear it over the exhaust note At idle he sounds fairly lopey (compared to newer engines) and at 1000 he sounds smooth and nice. At 2000 if you are pushing any petrol in, it will resonate pretty badly (to the extent where you think you might be in a 4-cylinder! :tapemouth ) and then when you reach 2500 it's very quiet. 3000 he's loud and throaty and 4000 he's screaming and wanting more. 5000 he starts to feel a bit breathless and I don't make a habit of going that far, let alone beyond...... I can't talk on the highway, but I say if you want a quiet car get a Merc (that's Mercedes for you yanks, not Mercury)

Sell your car, sell your house, sell your soul and sell your daughters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it's real... If it's just a good replica, you probably won't have to sell your soul. I'm sure Alan knows several *other* distinctions between the two, other than the chassis number. You'd want to make sure it's the real deal before you buy I'm sure...

I think it would look silly having someone's head poking out from underneath that fat convertible... it'd be like one of those caddy cruisers from the 50s where you can hardly see the person inside......... hard top please
  13. well BLAH to you conservatives BLAH! I can't say if they will fit or not, but chances are with some flares it'll look great With an RB26DETT swap I'm assuming you don't care TOO much about handling (it will be more of a fun/show car am I right???) so the extra rotational inertia won't be too much of a hassle I would assume? I say go for the stock black bolt on flares because they look so damn fine. But I like that old Japanese look with fender mirrors etc. and a lot dont so whatever works eh Any pics of your project?
  14. I swear I looked everywhere for a pram, Rick! I dont care if that white one is all original or not, someone needs to get all that crap off the side of it!

Since I'm a relatively younger person here and I wasn't even around when the 300ZX came out, I have no idea what the world was like in the early 70s when the Z arrived. After the Z Nationals here in Australia a question has popped into my mind regarding the paint quality on some of these cars. Some of them were absolutely amazing to look at, jst because the paint was so incredibly good. I've never really thought about it before but how good was the paint on these cars when they came out of the show room? Paint technology has come a long way in the last 30 years I'm sure, but how much exactly I'm not so sure about. Can any of you wise people explain how good the paint was back then? It's not so much a hard question, as a hard answer! But I'm hoping you might be able to shed some light on this.
  18. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yes, Baddog, and also the white ones up the top picture are (slightly newer) Skylines too. but... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hi Trex and welcome! Sounds like you have a nice car - why not post some pictures in the gallery when you get a moment? If your local classic car show does not let a Japanese car get in, then I say it's not worth trying to put your car in it. That's truly dispicable! Maybe they wont let the Datsun in because the MG drivers would all cry and go home !?!?! ROFL
  20. eesh, why didn't he just buy a corvette???

Tyre tread pattern matters A LOT... especially whne you go from 0 tread to really nice directional stuff ROFL

Is that a...? A... ??? :stupid: Sorry for being rude, but that actually looks a bit like a 280ZX ! ???? Strange, the angle of the sun must be playing tricks with the beautiful lines of that early classic Z!!! :stupid:
  23. Some verrry special cars there I will upload my pictures once they are developed...

You can always get a cover, I wouldn't recommend those leather do-it-yourself things because I think they look tacky, but whatever you like. Here's a pic of my cover - I think it suits the car very well, and it's a thousand times better to drive with it.
