SJCurtis you might be able to tell me what the differences are between GL, GT and GTX-2000 (even though we didnt get the last one)???

Oh no I wasn't thinking of the "normal" 2+2 badge. I was thinking of a one off design... that's all I can come up with for an explaination... My guess is as good as any! The model was designated ZGRS30? Interesting... If this car still exists it would help you a lot I'm sure!

Like the 2+2 Concept, the Z432's came with little badges above the Fairlady Z badge too. Although I think that this badge is different, it may give us a clue. The little badge symbolises the *type* of Fairlady it is. I'm beginning to believe it was probably a 2+2 badge, which was deleted from the car for production. I'm afraid you might have to research this one a bit ZedRally!!!
  4. I guess I was just feeling hopeful because MAYBE the new Z would be something different! Something *real* Z fans would buy. Obviously just an upgrade for 300ZX drivers...

I don't know how 240Z's are known to be chick cars or homosexual cars.... I think the poll Mike conducted here showing the sex for all members proves the first point. Perhaps we need a sexual orientation poll??? ROFL When the Z came out all the reviews said it was a very manly car. Everything is heavy and has a certain macho-ness about it. How the public perception has changed it into a "chick's car" I don't understand! Maybe they should drive one and then see. They're not exactly easy to drive. Personally I've never heard the idea that the Z was a feminine car. Must be different way over there in Perth...
  6. It's ok, everyone makes mistakes. Just some seem to make a hobby out of it. NOTE: Not directed at you bambikiller, I have to admit it took me quite a while to get what he was talking about too... different wavelength!

For sure. The 1600s/1200s and all the "little" cars are based on boxy economy cars and get their "cool" factor because they're old, cheap and look pretty good. I don't think the 1600's rally cred plays an important part in most 1600 owners' decision to buy the car. But who am I to judge? Most of the enthusiasts with these cars chuck in bigger engines, and I'm sure you know this. Go to any local newsagency and chances are half of the "Rice-burner" magazines have at least one 1600 with an FJ20 motor in it. Z's are much rarer, and more expensive (I'm talking classic Z's here). I'm guessing because the Z is more of a classic car, enthusiasts who like the car for what it is are more prominantly seen with these. Of course there are lots of hoons who stick big engines in them (*cough*cuong*cough*) to be cool, but I think most owners realise the car's status in the whole scheme of things. I'm assuming a larger portion of 1600 owners don't really care about the car's history, but I only base that on the number of these cars I see that are butchered. I've had one 1600 owner look inquisitively as he drove by, and as we exchanged thumbs-up it changed my whole perception of 1600 drivers. Maybe they aren't all ignorant fools after all? You owned a 240K coupe, SJCurtis? Have you got any info/stories/parts/anything at all I might find useful? Give me an email if you do! alfadog@bigpond.net.au I'm really enjoying owning something unique as this. They're not bad cars either
  8. TOO RIGHT 26OUNCE !!! Biker, I will give my thumbs up to any Z driver, PROVIDING they look at me. That tells me they know what I'm driving I will not toot at anyone though, unless they are an early Z driver. I will follow them for as long as it takes before they acknowledge me. I get so excited when I see one on the road

Flares you'll find easily, perhaps not second hand but new I'm sure you'd be able to find somewhere. As for Watanabes... search the forum for old topics about these great wheels. New from Watanabe Japan is around $400 each plus $400 shipping I think the general concensus was. Very hard to find in Australia............

Well the bottom badge says "Fairlady Z". The top one seems to be a red white and blue (French version!!) rectangle with characters in the red and blue parts. "2 2" perhaps ? I'll scan it in as well as the picture inside the mag for you if you like- just post your email address.

Black. Don't forget the fender mirrors, Fairlady badges, or front and rear grey bumpers! Also, you might want to try to find a short Japanese girl who has no problem wearing a yellow school-girl outfit (shouldn't be hard!). That'd be an awesome replica car, but you would have to explain it a lot...
  14. Well, I saw my first glimpse at a 350Z driver today. Saw this car at Uni once, but today I saw it driving! I followed it for a while, until I was side by side at a traffic light. I looked over, and there was this 20-30 year old with glasses and a bit of a tough guy look, staring straight ahead. Hhmmph! I kept looking, waiting for him to turn around so I could give him the thumbs up, but to no avail. As he quietly hummed off around a corner and under a bridge, I felt it was time to go home. 350Z Driver Type 1: Young businessman who desperately wants to look cool, and knows absolutely nothing about the history of the Z (See also 300ZX Driver type 4, 1989). Who else can add to this list?
  15. Ah, a GTX. You won't get any closer to a GT-R than that!!!
  16. I'm a little confused... I dont know if the GT's are any different but the GL's are KHGC. I think the 4 door model is KGC? I doubt very much that this is indeed a KPGC110 as there are half a dozen things unique to the GT-R which this car doesnt have (I have been researching for my own). The main ones are the rear tail lights, front grille, vent badges, interior panels (they're brushed aluminium or something similar on a GT-R) ... but it does have flares! An H looks awfully similar to a P though doesnt it ....................... If I was in America I would have to seriously consider it, well, assuming I had a free $4500 lying around. Someone buy it, quick! I dont like being an outcast here... I'll feel quite out of place when the Z goes, and if there's no one to reassure me I might find myself crying myself to sleep every night...
  17. I honestly don't know!! Maybe it was when they pushed it around, but it would be a bitch to get up that entrance! Seems that way, as it seems strange to take pictures of the car in such a position. I'm guessing that was where they rested it while they had a smoko, then got back to work to make the final big push up the hill. Sorry I can't help you more than make predictions based solely on my imagination!

Mmm cool thanks. Nice car... :stupid:
  19. Second image. Notice the different wheels fitted.
  20. Too bad it's not a GT-R.. still I wouldn't mind having it!! Certainly would go, and the exterior seems to be in reasonably good nick. Am I right in saying America never got the C110 cars? I've attached 2 more images of this car that were probably taken when it was running. Don't ask me how I got them......

The TT couldn't be any more different to the Elise. The price bracket they are in is about the only thing they have in common... As for Audi S4... mmmmm

It's obvious he didn't want a Porsche. He wanted a Porsche AND a Corvette. So why not both?

Strangely enough, a lot of newer imports are also "1993 car first registered in 1995" or something. Maybe investigating down this path may lead to some explanations? Maybe it was held back by Nissan for a bit of internal testing or something? Did Nissan ever do this kind of thing (Alan!)? I have that 1974 Motor Manual magazine, I have attached a scan of hte front cover of it for interest's sake. And before you ask, the article about it really isn't very good. Maybe 100 words saying what it is, and that it will be "ready for early 1974".
