My insurance is around $330 a year, comprehensive. I was totally stoked by the quote, the only problem being it has a maximum value of hte market value - being $5500 I think. When I tried to get a quote for the 240K I found it much more expensive (like almost $2000). Ridiculous, so I have to put up with Fire & Theft only until 2004 when it should go down. As for Shannons etc. that's great if you're over a certain age but useless if you're younger than that. What I find stupid for most big companies you can only have an agreed value if your car is under 10 years old. WHAT THE? Certainly the value of cars older than that would vary more??? Who knows, certainly not the telephone guy on the other end of the phone when I wanted an explaination Can't wait until I'm old enough for insurance companies to treat me like a person...
  4. I think the thing wehave to prove here is the "1973" stamp. Like Alan said, how do you know it's a 1973?
  5. Zen, being ironic, because he NEVER makes me calm.

  8. Alan, since you were around back then I assume, you might be able to enlighten me. Did Australia always work in metric when it came to the roads? Did they use MPH at some stage? If so, when did they change to KMPH do you know? Do you know why it took so long for cars to change to KMPH if the speed limits were already at KMPH, or did everything get changed over in 1973?
  9. No, you're right, we do work in kmph. However cars didn't have to be in kmph until 1973 I think, so that's why the Zs were mph before that date and kmph after. Why an EARLIER car would be in kmph can only be explained by someone changing it over from mph. That is reasonable as I would imagine a fair few people have done it here to avoid confusion. My 1971 240Z is in mph and my 1973 is in kmph with mph readings in smaller text as well.
  10. Don't you dare complain! got it better than the rest of the world...

I'm very sorry to hear about you not coming this easter... I'll take pictures for you. How about 2004? OK so offset doesn't really need to be exactly the same, in fact if it meant to have a positive offset, if a wider wheel is wanted the offset should be ... more? My 240K has specified a 28 mm positive offset. How varied can the offset of new wheels be before some problems occur? Is it hard to say exactly? Are front and rear offset values different usually? Lachlan P.S. would love to see some pictures of your cars some time Graeme... you should upload them to the gallery! EDIT: Whoops, looks like you had the same idea as me and put URLs to your images in your signature! Good one.

Now, there are a whole lot of numbers on a wheel which mean different things - most of which I know already but there is a certain part of the specification that I don't understand. Hopefully one of you can help explaining this to me, and possibly some others here too. Each wheel has the following dimensions (please say if there are others too!): Stud number and pattern (e.g. 4/114.3) Diameter (e.g. 15") Width (e.g. 6") Offset (e.g. 25 degrees) What exactly is the "offset"? Why do different cars need different offsets? Do you need a different offset if you go for a wider or larger wheel? I'm just a little confused... Thank you
  13. Someone buy this car, quick!!! Love the colour too...

  18. There's a immaculate dark blue 2000 Roadster for sale on the Gold Coast here, for $13000. Hasn't sold for a couple of weeks though so maybe it's not as immaculate as the picture makes it out to be? never seen one in real life though...
  19. It's alright it doesn't really bother me that much Just me being dramatic... :stupid:

If heavy and complicated means it's not a sports car, then no new car is a sports car, save the Elise. The meaning of sports car, IMO, has changed. The name GT is usually reserved for expensive cars nowdays it seems.
  21. Hi Interesting thread! Mine started 8 odd years ago when my brother had a nickname and I didn't. Everyone called him Effa (as in, E for Elliott). My name is Lachlan, and dad owned a couple of Alfa Romeos at the time so I thought it was fitting - Alfa. Later on in Need For Speed 1 the computer game, one of the default high scores was by "Alfadog". My brother thought I must have got the high score as I was Alfa... he always wanted to know how I got such a good time!!! After that I kinda adopted hte name Alfadog. It stuck On the Internet anyway. In real life people call me by my real name. Alfadog could also be taken as another word for 'Top Dog' (Alfa = A = First = Top). What pisses me off is when people spell it Alpha. The spelling came from Italy, not Greece!!! It gets on my nerves even more when people do it on the Internet, when they can clearly see how to write my name! OK, who's next?
  22. Well said Rob. Here are the things I dont think are necessary on the main page: - Shout box (but I know others use this quite a lot so it probably should stay) - Club Stats (maybe just have members, posts and total hits? Or maybe just have the stats linked from a link in the main menu?) - Coming Z Events (is there ever an event in here?) - Private Messages (Shouldn't be there - maybe just a link in the Personal Menu?) - Automotive (It's a trick little feature, but does anyone really use it?) - Random Z car (I agree with 2ManyZ's in that if I want to see random pictures I will click the random pictures link) I do not agree however that the number of news items should be decreased. Three is a minimum, if you're going to do anything add another one! And WHOA, I've never clicked the "Got Roadster" link before. Nice sister-site Mike!!!

But you see people who buy new cars are strange. They don't WANT to work on their car.. they like things called "warranty" and they seem to think new cars have more style?????? Who knows, they're very very strange...
