Yup, got one here but its a bit rusty (who'da thunk?). Bruce's cars would probably be a better option though as you wouldn't have to deal with expensive shipping.
  2. Thanks Rob! I can't wait to see what goodies you got from Japan !
  3. I agree Pennyman! Lets see some pictures of the car in the daytime with lights off
  4. I thought the front and rears were on different lines? There are two fluid cylinders..? We only bled the rears. The fronts need it too? Thanks for the offer Kent, but it's too late now! The reconditioned ones should work fine (at $40 each no less ). I had some on the parts car too but thought new/reconditioned ones were probably a wiser choice. The cylinders won't fit upside down so that's good. Thanks guys for the advice. Will have another go when I can...

Make sure to post pictures of the wheel Eric
  6. OK, so I got the wheel cylinders resleeved and I managed to install everything back together. Now trying to bleed the brake lines...... but they won't bleed! Dad pumps the pedal, I let the fluid go from the bleeder. Did so until a steady stream spurted out. Did both sides... Used quite a lot of brake fluid in doing so... but the pedal is still spongey. Pump it a few times and it's good, but becomes spongey again very quickly. I can't believe the lines are STILL not bled properly... could it be anything else? If only life had an undo button.

Yes, we had some discussion about this recently. The C111 was introduced with the NAPS anti-pollution gear in Japan to meet the new emission laws that came into play in the 70's. The extra '1' was used to signify this, as well as a few cosmetic changes. Later, the C210 came out and then the C211 (difference here I'm led to believe is EFI also). I'm guessing it's all to do with emissions, but perhaps someone more enlightened can give a definite answer.

Thankyou for bringing this up! Yes, from what I've seen there are two of these "Image cars" at least. I cannot imagine they would PAINT the original green one, especially in a new colour!! I do not think this is the case (though stranger things have happened...). I was then thinking that perhaps (and this is pure speculation) that there are two (at least) cars. The original, and then a replica more recently built, painted blue so as not to confuse it with the original. But then you get pictures like this (attached). Sorry for the poor quality, but the idea is there. It's a reproduction of a car postcard from 1972 (these postcards seemed to be all the rage back then?) and the car is quite clearly blue. So perhaps there were always two KPGC110 "Image cars". One green, one blue. The blue one looks restored in the recent pictures I've seen, so perhaps they restored one, and left the other (green) original? Some possiblities at least.
  9. I'd love one of these badges .. but not for that price! Anyway, here's a pic of the special 20th Anniversary GTX-E (that's C111, Jim :cross-eye ). Anyone got any more pictures of these special cars?
  10. Thanks Rob. Mine were in pretty good nick when I gave them to Pine Rivers in November... I wanted to check the condition of yours so I know if I'm being ripped off if they want to charge me a lot more than you paid. After what I've put up with so far I wouldn't be surprised... As for two weeks, well, they can expect an angry phone call from me shortly. Look forward to seeing more pics Rob:)
  11. The old guy at Cheapa Auto Spares looked in the new (PBR) catalogue and couldn't find it, then looked in an old book that had it, but after comparing to new book saw that it was no longer available?! I thought it was strange too, but usually they're pretty good with this kind of thing. Repco had one for a 1600 but that's it... I probably could have got some eventually but I'm pretty sick of this. It started out as just something to do one afternoon when I was bored. Anyway, they are at a resleeving shop now being rekitted so I'll have them back by tomorrow. Hopefully they'll go in as easily as they came out - and hopefully it all WORKS. After seeing how it all works, I'm curious (oh God not again). Why is brake fluid such a nasty nasty liquid? Like, why does it have to be used instead of anything else? Potentially stupid question........

Awesome... you know you can buy the full kits from Japan - or at least - at some stage you could. I have seen then on Yahoo Auctions Japan... I'll e-mail you a few pictures that might help
  13. OK so the wheel cylinders are NLA from Repco/CheapAutoSpares. Going to have to have them resleeved instead. So in the mean time, here are some photos. Not particularly exciting but I like to document everything. 1. Appearance with stock drums 2. Stock setup 3. Backing plate bent back, sanded and painted 4. S30 finned drums on 5. Appearance with S30 finned drums
  14. I voted - looks like Makel is in the lead with 39% at the moment
  15. Welcome back Rob. Good to see you posting again Slow projects are still good - mine was always a daily driver so it was pretty slow too!! Interesting problems, mine spews out petrol at the moment too. Also I went to Pine Rivers Electroplating for my S/S! Three months ago... they keep saying "next week". How long did your stuff take for turnaround? How beat up was it too? Hopefully the workmanship will make up for the crappy service
  16. No I didn't drive it without a drum, I was just too curious and had to see it working. I'm learning - just so happens I'm learning the expensive way.
  17. Great. Looks like I need to get a loan.

The trouble with ugly datsuns is that they tend to get so ugly that they become cool/cute. The S10 I think is lovely because it's just so weird - love the furutistic tail lights and what appears to be an early attempt at "Bangle" styling!! The 710 is cute, but the wagon I guess is a bit drab. The F10 is awesome because of its whackiness. And racing pedigree. For me - and sorry Stephen - the 200B has got to be up there from the cars I can think of off the top of my head. The Coupe gets off easily because it's "cool" though!
  19. Right on. I didn't notice that when I test fitted them :stupid: Anyway, I've got them on now and they look nice (as nice as drums can look), but they don't work/b]. I don't know what I did wrong... The handbrake doesn't work and I can tell through the foot brake that they don't work too... When I pulled back into the driveway I gave it a BIT more pressure and the rear (right?) went something a little like "CLONK!" I have to admit, I did apply the footbrake while the rear right was off. Could this have done something? I'm so not cut out to be a mechanic
  20. That's incredible! Looks like you painted it. Good information!

Too right Halz. There are plenty of owners who have registered here now. Problem is not many seem to be very active. I don't think there would really be enough people to make it work as a forum-based website. However, I like the idea of a site dedicated to classic Japanese cars - with an emphasis on history and restoration. Maybe one day... BTW Craig I wouldn't count on it, the owner of the domain is: Classic Skyline Realty LLC 1841 Broadway Ste. 715 New York, NY 10023 US
  25. Yes, but it saves people having to download movie clips, and also if you have ever tried translating a movie before, you'll understand it is quite difficult to do on the fly! Having text ready to be translated would make it easier on the translator. And also, if no one was up to the task of translating, you could just churn the whole thing through Babelfish to get a "good enough" idea of what is happening.
