240Z/240K rear brake drums interchangeable?
Right on. I didn't notice that when I test fitted them :stupid: Anyway, I've got them on now and they look nice (as nice as drums can look), but they don't work/b]. I don't know what I did wrong... The handbrake doesn't work and I can tell through the foot brake that they don't work too... When I pulled back into the driveway I gave it a BIT more pressure and the rear (right?) went something a little like "CLONK!" I have to admit, I did apply the footbrake while the rear right was off. Could this have done something? I'm so not cut out to be a mechanic

Skyline fastback
Yes there are a couple. One was on ebay a while ago, and another is currently being built up with a very hot SR20DET, owned by Mikey who is a member here. Check out the 240K forum for more info.

Too right Halz. There are plenty of owners who have registered here now. Problem is not many seem to be very active. I don't think there would really be enough people to make it work as a forum-based website. However, I like the idea of a site dedicated to classic Japanese cars - with an emphasis on history and restoration. Maybe one day... BTW Craig I wouldn't count on it, the owner of the domain is: Classic Skyline Realty LLC 1841 Broadway Ste. 715 New York, NY 10023 US

Wangan Midnight movie link
Yes, but it saves people having to download movie clips, and also if you have ever tried translating a movie before, you'll understand it is quite difficult to do on the fly! Having text ready to be translated would make it easier on the translator. And also, if no one was up to the task of translating, you could just churn the whole thing through Babelfish to get a "good enough" idea of what is happening.

Weird Names
I had a teacher at school named Paul D.i.c.k. Now that's not very funny, but he named his daughter (who also went to the school) Ofelia. Think about it My cousin is Richard Headley - calls himself D.i.c.k. A chinese boy a few years above me was called Eric Shun. My penpal had a teacher named Mr. Bater.

Look what I found
Victor, brings a whole new meaning to the term "buzzbox"! My brother had a snake in his dash once... It juts randomly poked its head out of the air vents every now and then. It lived there for quite some time as he could never coerce the thing OUT. One night driving up a mountain it dropped onto the passenger floor! Needles to say, his girlfriend in the passenger seat wanted to pull over..............! Pretty dangerous situation, but he found a small spot to pull over, and flicked the snake out with a stick. Girlfriend sat crossed-legged the rest of the way.

Cam, I haven't even tried google, but what are the chances of getting the script from somewhere. Perhaps that would be easier in terms of distribution and ease of translating.. then just need someone to fit it all back together. Just an idea.. :/

240Z/240K rear brake drums interchangeable?
I have a pair of rear brake drums that came spare with my 240Z when I bought it, but were lost in the deep dark cave known as the "garage" some time ago. I found them again the other day and thought why not swap them into the 240K? They look fairly identical except the Z has heatsink shims around the drum. Before I go ahead and do it, is it ok??? I don't see how it could be a problem, but I thought I better ask. Here are some pictures. Both are marked with MAX. DIA. 230.0MM, 9.055 as shown in the second image.

C110 Skyline 4-door model 1/24
Interesting toy.... reminds me of a Z I looked at when I was buying one . The 1:12 Tamiyas are to die for. I was thinking about keeping it in the box all original, but models are made to be assembled. There's no point in storing them away. You need to build one Craig Tom, the stickers are great aren't they. It came with a few different stickers so you can choose what you want to put on. The exhaust that came with it was a puny twin pipe and didn't look right. So I made my own :rambo: Gives it a bit more street-cred It looks a little more proportionate now that I have re-attached it a bit further inwards. I also put the rear spoiler back a bit. I do have one C10 kit 1:24, it's the Works car with blue decals. Ben, I thought about spark plug leads but in all honesty it won't be worth it. The bonnet on this model does not open. You can't see the engine except through the little grille! So I'll pass. The KPGC110 model I am now building is a Fujimi kit. It's nice, but the shell has the flares, rear beaver panel and front grille on it. So it will be tricky to paint (the Tamiya metallic grey that comes in a spray can is a much closer match than the little bottle of metallic grey).

L 24 engine
Yup, believe it or not there is more than one Ben Dover in this world! I know of one.... Believe it or not, he went to school with a guy named Dwayne Pipe. Here's another product from the GB...:surprised

Need to wash for wax?
Thanks Enrique. I feel rather proud after your expert explanation (just the basics though I am sure) as it seems that what I do is spot on! Any more helpful hints you can think of?

Magic stuff
Hey, you posted this already! Still, it's worth bringing up again. I used a "chrome" pen because I could not find the foil you speak of. It looks good (much better than any other silvery pen I've seen) but not how it is supposed to look (ie CHROME). Just have to find that foil somewhere...

Original Key Blanks
Unkle should, as he posted "ALL Datsuns made past January 1971 had ONE key to fit all locks , a double sided key". That is why I posted the extra bit of information. P.S. It's quite obvious Rick lives in Australia, and went to a key shop in Australia, which supplied key blanks for Australian delivered cars.. My comment was obviously in jest, you need to learn how to take a joke, mate.

Original Key Blanks
Who cares what the Americans had, this is a thread about AUSTRALIAN cars. :cheeky: My 240Z was the same - one key for ignition and another for the rest. The 240K is the same.

C110 Skyline 4-door model 1/24
I didn't use foil here, just a silver leafing pen. Expensive pen, but good results. Not as good as foil though I imagine. Here are some more pictures in the day time. I painted this car with a clear plastic primer afterwards to see if it would improve the finish a bit... It did, kinda. I guess real clear coat would be nicer? I don't think I've ever seen it in a hobby shop though... probably just not looking. The decals are so cool The one on the rear window is a Watanabe Racing Service sticker. I'm now working on a 1/24 GT-R. I've completed the S20 engine and wheels now! I tried for a slightly "weathered" look.

what grill is this from?
Makes sense now. The belt-buckle is a C111 grille. The main difference between C110 and C111 is NAPS system. The above picture says it is a C110 type. Not a C110 itself... As in, the C111 is a type of C110. Make sense? Thank Ackn my Japanese C110/C210 fanatic!!

C110 Skyline 4-door model 1/24
I am rather proud. Not so much of the outcome, but because I actually FINISHED it. I am known to my family and friends as the model kit collector. I have a whole heap of them that I have never finished building. My 1:12 240ZG was going to bring an end to all that... but it got held up when I was up to painting the shell. I think I cleared every hobby shop in my city of its Tamiya maroon spray paint! Still not enough coverage... but can't find any more maroon paint! Anyway, I decided to "just put the wheels on" my 1/24 C110 sedan the other day. I got a little carried away and finished it! I am particularly happy with how the "chrome" appears against silver. Unfortunately I decided some el cheapo spray paint would do. The finish is rather rough and matte. The Tamiya hobby spray paint is excellent but too expensive. Anyway, picture. Anyone else into model kits?

Photogenic Zed at Ricer meet
If you get a hold of any of the pictures, be sure to show us! Was this at Queensland Raceway? There's a "Nissan vs Honda" play tomorrow afternoon. The 60 positions are already filled (of new stuff) but I would have loved to see a Z on the track with them. If my car had a little more grunt I'd like to see how it goes. Just a little bit shameful at the moment!

240K GTR Flares
I dont know about that Tom. I have never seen a hardtop with a sedan beaver panel before. I think a much more viable explanation is the car had a bump from behind and it was replaceed with whatever could be found easily - in this case a Skyline (not Datsun like the rest of the car) sedan beaver panel. Maybe this why the tail lights are JDM too? Who knows... do you know, ijaidee?
