OT: Vintage Land Rover sighting
Thanks for the pics Ben - California really does have every kind of car... my uncle is Land Rover crazy! Until recently he had four of them. Now just three. One is very special, I'll see if I can find a pic of it

2006 350Z Commercial
Hey Will - as I'm sure you're aware, the whole point was to put some really wrong music to the action. Unless Billy-Joe and his mum aka sister were in charge of sound. I think it could have really worked well. Think fighting scenes + classical music. Wrong, but works brilliantly sometimes. I do not believe it worked in this case. Like you said, the music "drowned out" the other, extremely well thought out and executed elements. I don't think the concept is flawed though.

A Theory - RHD HS30 Model Standard Exterior Rear View Mirror Fitment
OK More info. Here is a picture of a 240Z from a road test in the May 1971 edition of Sports Car World. It has the chrome type fender mirrors. Also note that this car is a "series 1" early car, as it has the vented hatch and "D" hubcaps. Sorry about the poor scan - but it does the job. Next up is a picture of another early "series 1" 240Z, from the April 1971 edition of Modern Motor. This one is red, and has the chrome type fender-mounted mirrors. Now, from January 1973 Sports Car World. The orange car that featured on the front cover. This has the revised quarter vents and mag wheels. It is not a 1973 model though. You can clearly see on the interior shot there is a hand throttle, and no drilled-out holes in the steering wheel. This is an early car, but not as early as the "series 1" cars I mentioned previously. Next up, November 1973 Motor Manual. This is a later car, with the holes in the steering wheel, no hand throttle, "Z" style hubcaps and last but certainly not least, a single door mirror on the driver's door. And just for good measure, here is a 2+2 260Z from September 1974 Modern Motor, with one single chrome door mirror, which looks the same style as the 240Z chrome mirror to me. That's all for now!

A Theory - RHD HS30 Model Standard Exterior Rear View Mirror Fitment
My old Z, HS30-001031, had some Falcon XB or some other kind of non-standard mirrors when I got it. Doesn't help much I know, however, upon inspecting underneath the front fenders I noticed evidence of a hole either side, in the same position as where mirrors would be. I personally conclude that that car PROBABLY once had fender mirrors. I also remember inspecting a green coloured 240Z (early - "series 1" if you will) that had fender mirrors. I can't remember what kind they were (this was in 2001), but I do remember it was an early car and very very original. I like your theory, let's hope we can put more evidence to it!

Skylines for sale on Yahoo Japan
Hey McZ, that is a "Datsun bucket" seat - was a sports option. Ben has posted a great thread about it - http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15943 - if you seriously want one your best bet is probably to send Ben a PM, he might be able to help. Check out Alan's (HS30-H) gallery for more pics of the seat in a Z car! And the passenger seat is an authentic KPGC110 bucket seat. A little different, much rarer, and much more expensive... if you can find one. I was surprised no one commented about this one - http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n22851424 - a short-wheel base Skyline with a G18 4-cyl - but look closer an it's LHD! Probably has an interesting history...

Age-Old Battle! 240Z vs. 280Z
I have heard the catalytic converter doesn't really restrict that much. But I guess on an older car when they were first being used it may be different. Anyhow, it's illegal to get rid of your cat, if your car came with it.

2006 240Z >>?????
Or maybe they should just continue to rake in the profits. Something Pontiac is not doing!! It is discontinued. I think it looks gorgeous compared to what else is on the market today. Looks like it would be pretty twitchy to drive though. Wish there was a car like this and the MX5 in COUPE form, though (like Nate said). Cayman is the closest thing to it I can think of right now...

dash repair
Get it recovered. If you can't afford it, save up. That's my view anyway

You all missed it!
You guys just made me dizzy with jealousy!!! Seriously, that event looks like OVERLOAD. I can't comprehend it. We have a lot of classics in Australia, and some great events (e.g. Classic Adelaide), but it's still nothing like that. Ben, I have some space you could FTP to if you know how to generate a thumbnail web gallery with Photoshop (it's pretty easy). It would only be temporary though. There are some free places, like www.imageshack.us and www.photobucket.com if you want a more "permanent" place. I can't wait to see more pictures. BTW, guys, your cars look so damn cool parked next to each other like that. So cool...
