  1. Why are you looking to buy fender mirrors? I thought you were selling your car. Do you have two Z's?

  4. Great stuff! Thanks mate, she looks a million dollars. You can see what Alan was going on about with the offset talk, the rears dont quite fill the arches.. but fantastic nonetheless.

Hi guys, I'll be in Melbourne for a bit of a getaway next Friday (14th May) and was just wondering if anyone's free then and would like to meet up? A year after selling my Z I've never been in another................................................. hopefully Ill see someone next week! Just leave a message/PM if you're free. Thanks! Lachlan
  7. Great, I think it looks great! If you're into that kinda thing.. obviously they tried to do a lot of fancy stuff with the shape, but IMO it doesn't quite fit the lines of the car.

My dad owns a 911 (1988).......................... and the way that thing handles is insane. He's always owned Alfas & British stuff before this, I guess he's attracted to strange driving positions and various fluid leaks.

I thought the pink one would have been the one from the Gold Coast (Siddons & Copeland)? http://www.targa.org.au/gallery/2004/spectator_shots/hires/day1/BMW%206%20day%201%20_3571.JPG
  12. That's a big-arse turbo...

I just did a little bit of research.. interesting to see one of the Capri prototypes looks strangely familiar...!

Fair enough, I don't know much about the Capri except that I think it looks cool and has a bit of power. I would have thought they could have been competitors because they were both "sports cars" from fairly mundane car manufacturers. But thanks for putting it straight Going off-track a little, what kind of cars did the Capri V6 compete with?

I dont pretend to know squat about the 70s (only being born in the 80s)!... But I would have imagined with a 2 litre 150HP engine (compared to the 1600's 1.6 litre 96HP and the 2.4 litre 151HP unit for the 240z) the GTV would have competed more with the Z than the 1600/510/Bluebird. Also, the 510 wasn't exactly promoted as a sports car I thought. The Z and the GTV were... the GTV's pricetag made it more of a competitor with the 240Z too. Just looking back at an old magazine for prices... Alfa 2000 GTV $6790 (this is in Australia mind you) Datsun 240Z $5000 That's why I mentioned the Alfa. Maybe not in racing were they competitors, but in the real world I think that they would have been.

What about the Alfa GTV or the Ford Capri? I think in some respects the Z carved itself a niche in the market, that being the Economy Sports Car. Perhaps that's why it's a little difficult to put a finger on the Z's direct competitors.

Thats right.. I almost cried!! Then I saw the red Z and the BNR34, and I did cry! Luckily they dont look too bad though... The red Z looks like it will need a lot of work... Seems to me that there were a lot more crashed cars this year?! Is it just me??? Unfortunately I didn't get to see any of it on the TV...
  18. It's cheaper to get this stuff to Australia than America, I would have thought. But then because of our currency I can't imagine it would end up being too much cheaper relatively. Still, that is the price of love! btw, not sure how often that currency converter is updated, but I know www.xe.com is updated live, and from Australia much faster too. Easier URL to remember too!
  19. And thats the way this cookie crumbled. BBALLS, for interest's sake only, do you have pictures of them on your Z?
  20. Mmmmmmmm... *rubs hands*

They're all pretty simple images - they should load much faster than they are... Probably due to the server being in Sweden though. Is there a delay with the mouseover images? I haven't looked... but surely you've got them pre-loaded, Mull? It's a nice original site. Doing it in the theme of a newspaper rarely works but I think you've got a cracker here

Hmm interesting. Is "mustache" another one of those Americanisms then?? :cheeky:

I'm with you Ben, these things are gorgeous. Why anyone would buy an MGB or something instead is beyond me!!!

The correct spelling is "moustache" only. It's a strangely spelt word isnt it... your restoration of this part is awesome! I love the precision and detail. Love it.
