P.S. I believe according to Nissan yellow = "do not use this speed range often", and red = "never use this speed range". Makes sense. I wonder if it has something to do with government safety regulations in Japan. Fairlady Zs, C110 Skylines etc. all had the yellow and red ranges, but I don't know of any export cars that did.
  2. Alan - absolutely bloody fantastic!! I bet you can't wipe that grin off your face. I'm glad it arrived safe and sound, that would have been a major worry. Wow... You have to take a picture of this majestic beast in some typical London scenery!! That's got to be the weirdest thing... Just sensational!! edit: I just realised... my avatar is probably more suited to you than me now!!

Ohh maybe a year or two, but worth a shot if you can't find anything else
  6. I have noticed that a lot of people have been struggling to get their hands on this great classic Japanese car magazine from Geibun-sha, but do not want to pay the exorbitant costs your local "Japanese speciality stores" charge (often at 4-5 times the retail price in Japan). There is an alternative, as has been mentioned briefly in the past (e.g. here). You can order direct from a company called NIPPAN IPS. They will charge the RRP for the magazine + postage to your door. It works out to about $20 AUD for Australia, which is about the cheapest you will get without going to Japan and buying it yourself. Excellent service and prompt delivery. You can organise to order back issues, the latest issue or even a subscription. They only accept payment by credit card, but from my dealings with them they are very reliable and trustworthy. I just thought some might be interested in this... If you are, please contact Mizue Toyota (toyota@nippan-ips.co.jp) at Nippan IPS Co. Ltd. Mizue san speaks very good English. This company deals with all international orders for not only Nostalgic Hero but also a large number of other magazines and books. Their website is here: http://www.nippan-ips.co.jp/ . The publications they offer are available here: http://www.clubjapan.jp/ . If you could mention my name when contacting Mizue san it would be appreciated. Lachlan

What's with it? Nothing - I just thought it was cool. I took the picture myself too

I almost bid on this, before I looked carefully and realised that these were the thin stainless steel trim pieces - not the chromed plastic things that surround the outer lights only on hardtop models. Did all the bidders make the same mistake, or what?? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&item=320010050531&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 I don't get it! I threw out some of these...

  10. Actually I went to look at the car this afternoon. It was raining unfortunately, which can hide things, but the car overall looks pretty solid! I'll list the things that striked me- - The front half (doors, fenders and bonnet) have been resprayed in gloss black. This was done by their painter friend so the job is pretty good without any runs I saw but it has a few foreign particles - little lumps - on it. - The paint on the rear half is OK, but not great. - RUST: There is some rust starting to form I think on the rear C pillar just above the rear window. Very minor but who knows what's beneath it. Battery tray is CLEAN. - Car is verry straight - front left fender is a bit off (fixable I'm sure), left door doesn't close properly (panels were taken off when painting and they say it just needs to be adjusted again). Bonnet is a bit off too but overall, very straight. - I wondered what that thing on the rear under the bumper was - it's a metal/fibreglass piece of "bodywork"! Kinda like an anti-spoiler, it's seriously weird! - In the boot the wheel well has surface rust. I looked under, and it seems that the wheel well may have been welded on from a donor car?? I'll check it with mine. There is some decently bad rust in the rear right wheel well (common) and left has been repaired with new metal. Both doglegs look like they have been repaired in the past at some stage... - There are heaps of spare parts. Bumpers, service manuals, glass etc. - There is no brake master cylinder fitted. Need to get one for it. - The car has been sitting for a fairly long time on and off... but apparently drove last week when it had some work done on it. The car wouldn't start. A click, but no more. Don't know how much work would be needed to make it run under its own power... - Interior is very good, all original except fluffy dash. The console is butchered but it comes with a spare. Door cards are OK, the right one is a bit poor though - it has a speaker hole and is without the metal bit on the bottom. - Glass all seems pretty good - new windshield. - All stainless steel trim is there apparently, but not fitted. From the few bits I saw it looked to be in pretty good nick. - The spare car they had was a GT (now deceased, RIP) so they have a few of the GT badges, GT manifold etc. If that's of any consequence. - Driver seatbelt is broken. Overall, the car body is not perfect, but it is in great condition compared to a lot of others. There is some rust that will need to be taken care of, but not much at all. I'd paint the bits that haven't been painted yet - do this at the same time as getting the rust fixed and it should be good. Unfortunately, the car needs a fair bit of work getting it RUNNING. They seemed like good honest people and the car doesn't need much, but as they say - buyer beware. As I could not hear it going who knows... They say they are going to get it fixed over the weekend to make sure its running. Additionally to this, the car looks like it will need a fair bit of work getting it all back together. Seals, stainless steel bits, panel adjustment, exhaust, brake master cyl, locks ... As is stated in the ad it's a project car - not a complete, running car.

Interesting ... got some pretty MEAN flared guards too. Kind of 944 style. I wonder what kind of suspension setup they use and if they're similar to anything else. Couldn't be too easy a task to do it up... :|
  12. Tom still hasn't got thos badges? BAH! He's so lazy...

Driving my 240Z, I always waved whether it be a 240Z, 280ZX, 300ZX or 350Z. Seldom did I get a wave back. Only once did a Z32 driver recognise me - he pulled up next to me at the lights and waved frantically to wind down my window. He was very excited to see the car. Great feeling! I pulled up next to a silver Z33 soon after they were released - I was excited at the thought that perhaps the driver would be interested... nope. Didn't even look over. He knew I was there. Oh well, his loss. Now that I drive a "Skyline" - I get the same with late-model Skyline drivers. Hardly any R33 or R34 drivers even look - but when they do you can usually read their lips - "What the ....." C210 drivers seriously have no idea. It's mostly the R32's that actually care... The few people that are interested are very interested and want a chat, which is fantastic. But unfortunately they are few and far between. Most people just want a drag race. A pity.

BTW, I'll vouch for HLJ, they are excellent.

Hi Mat - for the "LH guard sidemarker" do you mean the indicator repeater? If so, I think I sent Mikey the two that were on the parts car, but I think he doesn't need them. Might be worth asking... shipping will be cheap too
  16. Ohh man... someone pinch me. Seriously cool pictures Victor, thanks for posting!
  17. No worries, my parents get loads of them for free. But seriously, I doubt the spring will wear out. If anything, the copper/brass ring on the hub will wear out first. The best thing about this fix is that if it doesn't work, I can just take the spring out. Nothing's damaged or modified

He says "1980s" Clarkson is actually a reasonably large fan of S30's
  19. Hi Mikey - wow - good post! Yeah we found (well, Mustadd did) the problem. Simply no ground being made! The little brass button was not making contact. I was thinking of different ways to do this, and Miles' suggestion sounded the best. So I took apart a few pens to find a spring that would fit! Sure enough I found one that was perfect. Fit like a glove. I'm just hoping it will continue to make good contact. It should... but the original hub I got should have fit in the first place. So it's all working now! Thanks

Mustadd, thanks, I will check the local wrecker's yard as I think they have a 180B stashed away somewhere there... AH! So did you buy those strips from Rare Spares? How good are they? Are they the same as OEM? Peter, I think the front indicator units are trashed, but the wiring might still be good at the tail lights! I know that Sasha wanted the lights, but he'll have wiring so that shoud be ok.
  21. Hi! I thought you might be interested...! The only problem with this one is that it's still in parts. Not sure how much work is needed to make it a "car" again! But yup, I'll have a look for you and anyone else here. will send him a message now.
  22. 1974 Model, in a nice gloss black, but could be a can of worms, difficult to tell! Listing here It's pretty close to me too. If anyone is seriously interested I can go look at it in person during the week.
  23. Hi BuDavid, gunmetal grey is just a name that is given sometimes in English to a dark, often metallic grey colour. You're right - almost black. Black can just sometimes look tacky. Here's an example of gunmetal, hope it helps. I know what ever decision you make, it will be a good one! Make sure to let us know how it goes

http://www.allzparts.com.au/ http://www.zshop.net.au/ There was a 260Z 2+2 that was pretty much stripped to the shell in Kelley's (I think that's the name?) Wreckers a while back. Pretty sure it still had a roof on it! Not sure of condition though, could well have had a car sitting on it at some stage so wouldn't get your hopes up.
  25. Maddos, I did the same thing. Top Gear is awesome
