If the flares are glass and you want to bond them, MSA sells a great epoxy for that purpose. The method I used to bond the rear quarters to my car has held without cracking for 12 years. 1) Trace the flare shape on your rear quarters. 2) Grind the paint above the line you just made about 3 inches. 3) Go below that line an amount equal to the lip on the top of the flare. Use 40 grit paper. 4) Retrace your line. 5) Take a small ballpeen hammer and go over the area above the line to recess it a small amount. 6) Use the epoxy from MSA to adhere the flares. Use a couple selftapping screws to hold them in place. Do one side at a time to avoid rushing yourself. Remove the screws once the glue has dried. 7) Feather grind about 1 inch of the edge of the flares to meet the hammered area of the quarters. 8) Apply a thin coat of bondo on the quarter up to the edge of the flare. Sand smooth with 40 grit paper. 9) Then cut 3 inch wide strips of fiberglass cloth. Apply two to three layers over the feathered flare edge, overlapping onto the bondo. One inch on the flare and two inches on the quarters. Any seams should be overlapped with the next layer of cloth. 10)Sand down any rough areas of glass with 40 grit paper. Skim with bondo to smooth. 11)Do the finish sanding, prime and paint. A little more involved, but it wont crack. And there's nothing worse than to spend time and money to have a job last only a short while. Good luck ! Barrie
  2. Looks like my car.

Bill, I have seen this list before. When I saw it though, all the rules were numbered (1). My wife was the person that gave the list to me. She then got mad as I read them and laughed so hard my eyes started to water.
  6. I don't know, but it is a very good looking car. Don't think Bill and his hat would fit inside though!!

  8. Well Bill, if she was ugly and she didn't leave???? Make sure she is good at grunt work. You know, cleaning parts, wax on, wax off. Of course "The Lakeland, Fla. Heman Woman Haters Club" defines the perfect female. I'm not sure of your age so I don't know if you are up to the graphic information. I can however offer two theorems concerning relationships with women. These are true and tested. 1) The Proximity Theorem: The closer a man gets to a woman with a large chest, the dumber he becomes. 2) The Three Month Rule: IF you meet a woman that is everything you want. See if she is the same way in three months, if she even lasts that long. If so and she will have you, keep her.
  9. Bill, A friend once told me to go for an ugly girl. His logic was that if she left----who cares!!!!

Check out Nissan's Champagne. It's a medium to light gold. Rich yet racey. I think it was on 91-2000 Maximas and Altimas.

    1) If a blonde is alone and says something profound is she still a dumb blonde? 2) If you put instant coffee in a microwave, can you travel back in time. 3) If someone from the government arrives and says they are here to help, is it true? 4) Why did the farmer cross the road? 5) Is there such a thing as military intelligence? 6) Why does your wife get mad at you, when you tell her about something that she does that makes you angary? 7) How does asprin know where it hurts? 8) If an emergency brake is for emergencies, then why do we use it when we park the car? 9) When a child is playing in a room by themselves, and you hear a crash, do they really think we believe the "I didn't do it!" explanation? 10) When you show a dog something by pointing, they look where you are pointing, while a cat will just lick your finger? 11) Who read all of these, and shouldn't I be in the office by now? It's 8:47 am. Hope everyone has/had a good day.
  13. I agree!!!! Now back to our Z's.
  14. I'm not sure when the thread was started, however I believe the quote was mine. Was it rude? Yes! Was it against the French people? No! It was an agreement with the originator of that thread and an observation they made. Which I took as a comment about the French government's lack of aid during the Iraq situation. And as it turns out their motive was ----MONEY. Some say money is our motive. I just remember the Twin Towers. It was also in response to the person that said we, the US, OWED the French for their help during the Civil war.?????? So is an apology due? Hell no!!! Not by me. I have no problem defending this country against someone that makes a comment I don't agree with. Much the same way anyone of you would defend a member of your family. I may not agree with everything here, but I'll not stand by and let a non-US person hammer us. Does that make me "patriotic"? Bet your arse it does. Self-righteous? No! I could care less if my opinion is one that everyone agrees with. But it's mine and I'll express it. So Steve don't make apologies for anyone but yourself.

Hi Vicky, My 72 came with the shoulder strap as standard issue. For the longest time it just hung behind the seat due to no desire to use it. Now--- like my roof, it's gone. However I getting a brace made so I can install a four point.

Does anyone really think Boyd's "Alumatub" was built for the street? Most likely a trailer queen showcar. As to the other issues, isn't there a federal agency thet dictates standards for new production cars and then states come up with specific laws for their own issues? On the safety equipment point, here in Florida we have a seatbelt law and a bumper height requirement law. In each case the law is upheld based on the equipment at the time of manufacture. This way Big Brother isn't taking away from our freedom completely. Should every car have seatbelts and bumpers? From a safety standpoint ,yes. From a freedom of expression standpoint, NO! If a builder wants to have a car that is period perfect and seatbelts don't fit then they shouldn't HAVE to be installed. There was a whole generation of then legal Hot Rods that are now being reproduced. Let the builder choose his look and standards. Forcing standard on vehicles such as these is just another way of some group trying to rewrite history!!!

Mainly because Boyd's "Alumitub" (spelling???) is not a street production car. The other point for any other street car is that it only has to meet the standards of the day it was built. Look at all the 32, 33, 34 Ford roadsters out there, not to forget Cobras. Some of those cars will be on the road as soon as their build is complete. No bumpers or airbags and they are basically new cars with new bodies not 30's rebuilds.

Hey Ozzy Guy. I don't know you, you don't know me,but the mear fact that you posted this thread says volumes about the thought of selling. Deep down you don't want to. I had a situation in the past where I was offered a good price. He drove the car, and then fanned out all these $100.00's. And just as I was handing over the keys. I thanked him and said no-thanks! Since then I've had the most fun doing new things to the car. My two kids fight over whose going to get it when I die. Can't sell a family member. I hope you make the right decision. Oh and I had a mustang----not the same at all.
  19. For what it's worth, that's the route I went with my "72". Can drive often just not to be a daily driver. Premium was the best I found for the value of the car. That includes a tow package.

mriz, Southern air is at www.southernrods.com. I think the duct and shipping was around $10.00. Barrie

If you're not looking for stock items, go to an after market auto A/C supplier. I replaced my entire heat/ac unit with a setup from Southern Air. Don't have their web page but Street Rodder Mag would have it. Good Luck.
  22. Boy oh boy. I had no idea that my "mostly stock" comment would stir up such additional conversation. Twelve years ago I had a bone stock 72, when I chose to make a working convertible of it. I have enjoyed the experience ever since. There are times now with the scaricity of clean cars that I,almost, wish I had left it alone, almost.. I would love to find a car that was at least "Mostly Stock" To put back into the "Correcter" category. I like the 3 levels breakdown.
  23. A truly sweet looking ride !!!! Would love to have that one sitting in my garage. Wonder how high the bidding will go for such a clean example of a mostly stock Z.
  24. I'm not sure about Crane, but when I installed a MSD system I had to buy an adapter for the tach to work right. Maybe you need to contact Crane to find if something like that is needed for your application.
  25. What Kind Of Air Filters?
