Fiberglass Q
I have found that fiberglass will bond to metal for only a period of time before seperating. The amount of time will be based on how much body flex there is at the repair point. If the repair is going to be seen, ie. a body panel. You would be best served to relieve the area with a small ball peen hammer. Use an amount of body filler to skin that area and then glass over the hole. Body filler is made to bond to metal and flex more than fiberglass. Fiberglass will stick to the filler better than it will to metal. That is the method I used 12 years ago to "glass" a set of quarter panels to my Z. They are still there and no cracks. Good luck.

I found a nice mahogany wheel at Advanced Auto Parts. It's made by Grant and the hub places it in a nice comfort area.

Triple side carbs. Need help from the experts.
Hi George71z, To my knowledge, no. The gas thing just seems to be a trait of the webers, per my friend. The only thing he said, that was not a fix, for anything other than safety was to have a large enough heat shield to keep excess gas from dripping on the header or exhaust manafold. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I agree with 26th-Z. Not just because I have Mikunis, but because of the reasons I chose them. A buddy of mine races and has Solex carbs. The two things he said positive about them was that he didn't have to continue to adjust them and that the webers he has seen all tend to "puke " gas. Not a good thing to have happen over the headers. Even if you don't us them get them. They will only increase in value.

Stainless steel header??
As I said my headers have been on for 3 years with no problem of any sort. Neither rust nor discoloration and that's in a high humidity open Florida garage. The company that did mine also coated the inside. Doesn't SS hold heat longer that regular steel. That was one of the reasons I went with my current set. Is that not ture?

Stainless steel header??
I don't know that I've seen them either. Why do you want SS? You can get ceramic coated silver that will polish up and hold the shine. Mine have been on the car for 3 years and look as good as the day I got them.

carb change over from FI
Hey Arne, Your information is all correct and much more detailed than I provided. I did my L28 maybe 10-11 years ago and have had no issues. Mine was maybe as easy as it was since I started with a 240 and not a 280. But as I stated it was a very simple conversion just more detailed than I remember. Thanks for the refresher course. My son and I are about to start on rebuilding a 280 as his first car. I plan on going with carbs rather than the FI. I like the look and simplicity that carbs provide. I'll be sure to look up this thread when we get to that point in our build. Barrie

carb change over from FI
Ok, this is an easy one. Get the carbs. intake, and linkage from any source. Unbolt the FI. Bolt on the carbs. install a pressure regulator, set to 4lbs. Go and have fun. This is all that I did when I installed an L28 in my 240. I don't think there is anything I left off. This is also all that a friend and I did when he converted his 76 280.
