  1. Yes as a complete unit....half shaft flange and stub stay together 240 vs 260. david
  2. Dreco, If not already covered, the 240z stub axle shaft is smaller so to speak then the later 260/280 stub. This point driven home, when we replaced stub axles during a race weekend "under stress" .....pulled a severed 280 stub axle, slapped in a 240z stub, didn't think to swap used the 280 inner flange. BTW, pull wheel, then drum, carefully examine the weld where stub axle shaft is attached to plate that wheel studs come thru....if this completely fails, things can go bad real fast...... Be careful Just a thought, David
  3. David , What's the Vin # on the firewall of your car?
  4. HI David, Are you looking for the rubber mount,or the rubber mount itself? the 72 has 2 horizontal bolts/nuts holding mount..earlier cars mount to captured nut vertically.....if that makes any sense. I've got a couple of both if still needed. Email me at volgolf@aol.com....I'm getting rid of a bunch of stuff..... david spillman
  5. $24,000 for Z with bungie cord battery tie down? Wow. david
  6. Hi Mark, OOT since Friday, sorry I hope to be back together by VIR in May...MARRS/SARRC race. Maybe a couple at Road Atlanta, Savannah...ARRC in November...
  7. Hi Mark, I'm a lurker here, but I do enjoy the early z on the track...I'm not close to williams speed, but have had fun in my ITS z......Being a underdog now is kinda fun. Kids and work taking up tons of time presently, but I'll be back one day.... david spillman
  8. HI Guys, How many Green/Black combos out there? The Alaska Ebay Z.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4538933664&category=6187 has perked my interest. This is the 3rd 70 z I know of in the US to claim the black interior was original interior..my question to ya'll, is are there others? There has to be.... I recently purchased VIN# 1222 with 907/black interior, Owner claimed original, but as less then honest mistakes multiplied, I soon discounted his claims. Now as I've noticed these "anomalies" more frequently, I feel black should be listed as an available interior color for the early green Z... Not that any purchaser during the first year had any say about color while waiting in the long line. Interested in all opinions, david spillman
  9. Dead flo, If my recollections are correct the 70-73 rear bumper will fit.....I know there aren't any shock absorbers til the 260s showed up....front or back.. If its a good bumper, list on ebay if not what ya want. David
  10. Jayru, I to have a 52,000 mile 240z engine from my hybridz project from several years back. I've been sliding this engine around the garage for 5 years now....holding off pulling the rods out in case someone shows up needing a good 240 motor. With all the 280 engines floating around, not much market for a stock 240...other then a cheap alternative to blown engine. david
  11. Carl, Could you please direct me to this car? Direct info to: Volgolf@aol.com David Spillman

    Racing $$$

HI SuperDave, I was surprised at the remarks made concerning $$$, and being no business racing with out mucho $$$$ There are a few that can come accross smug on ITouring.., and a very few in person even....I get to meet very few of the people at the track simply because I have chosen the highest maintenence car for SCCA racing the Z.....but Our Z still finishes in front of the "P" cars!!!! The 325s are top dog now, but I for 1 can't justify a $40,000 car for a chance for a trophy...we may not have "THE" car to have now, but the zdrivers are IMO the class of the field!!! david

    Rear Brakes

Its really amazing how hot them buggers get, especially without lots of air moving.... Getting the brakeshoe the same shape of drum is important to have as much contact between shoe and drum as possible. Carbotech will shape to please. I use em front and back. Before I had enough air in the correct areas on rotor/caliper, cranking more pressure to the drums helped put off complete loss of brakes for a lap or two..... BTW if your fingers sizzle when you hold your nuts,"lug nuts" try not to throw em into the next paddock area!! david
  14. These are early 260z..... David
  15. Hi ZSaint, I to am in process of rebuilding a lack luster SCCA ITS engine with 8mm rod bolts...So I gave ARP a call..info from ARP website. I called Pete at ARP and he told me that 30 pounds with the moly lube is the recommended torque value. Good Luck with the build up Hope you got a good deal on those rods!!! :classic: david
  16. HI, Would have passed under radar being listed as 240zx hubcaps, but looks like seller was smart to bring to our attention..currently at $1.25? david
  17. I agree He sounded like he would have accepted a cash deal on the spot. Love to hear that cars story...and some Pics. david
  18. that is correct assumption Chris, never found any eyes in Miami thou. david
  19. I followed it til yesterday. The lister invited interested parties to inspect on Sunday evening..826 miles prevented my look see. Good bet he took a offer too good to refuse. I figured one of the Floridian z guys picked it up.... OK, lets hear it, was it as good as it looked? Pictures please. david
  20. Looking forward to "watching" the bidding on this auction this morning, and it "went missing". What lucky dog made off with the car? Someone on this board I hope has purchased? Car looked good, but without seller feedback or information, was risky.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4523480325&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT david
  21. I'm looking for a tan early rear cover, that is without the access holes for tail lights david
  22. I agree Carl, I wrote my response in a rush last night, or early morning...vented hats more accurate. I've heard that the vents do help somewhat with cooling, but have resisted so far to trying em out on the track under race conditions.... As far as why the switch was made, not sure. I've seen these rotors on 5 different under Vin#5000 240Zs...must be pretty good stuff to last the 100,000 plus miles my cars have. Of course, driving conditions would change life of rotor.... Be interested in who still has these on car. david
  23. Also ask your guy for the hood bumpers "look like chair leg cushions", hood latch, voltage regulator, gas tank, heater control panel, rear interior tailight panel, rotors "if original vented ones"..All < Vin #2000 or so. david
  24. Yoogeneer says [ i'm looking for a decent used dash for a '71 240z, couple cracks are fine just no earthquake sizes.] The dashes I've pulled that had small cracks, would always somehow crack worse while out of car, or during removal process..... The 73 dash wiring connectors under glove box are much different if i remember correctly. Swapping out all the gauges/assemblies, along with dash wiring connectors would work...I'm 95% sure... david
  25. Hi Zhead240.. I understand that the pull switch in the dash for flashers are 73 models... I know... picky nick picker... but just throws up a little flag in my head concerning it being removed from a 72 as advertised....I looked closely at previous listing, but got nervous over listing as 72. Does look like a good dash..... I'm still looking for a great early dash myself. david
