Australian hs30-00004…69?
-
3-4 versions of the “early” inspection lid that used plastic clips….
-
Such a dark green in contrast with thick undercoating from before. Looks much darker then anticipated, but poor lighting I believe is causing darkness…. Have a few places to touch up, maybe another coat or two, couple of runs, couple of trashy spots in the paint to sand out and re-shoot…. Still spectacular in my book…. Not perfect by any means… but sweet to see the bottom side in color.!!

Thank you for the pictures, exactly what I was looking for. I have several "later" cars to look at, but have seen very few 3 and 4 digit cars., much less 2 digit cars for reference of amount of stitch welding seen at the firewall / frame rail attachment, and at the radiator core support/frame rail attachment. I had a couple of the flexible wire holders missing on frame rails on 51 that I was trying to determine if different then later models. Thanks again!!

If you have anymore shots of the engine bay from either/ both sides, anything to help review, or reference for properness……. Thanks.. David

Seat brackets appear to be hand painted, wavy lines, thick black gloss? Brushed, but no bristle lines…..?? No overspray . This is in 3/70 car , I’m hoping same paint pattern applies to August/september 69 car. Plans are to do paint only on underside of car. Will evaluate cosmetics once paint dries….. David

Sanding and blocking still happening. Getting slick….. After a frantic search found my somewhat fragile hand throttle cable bracket that had been knocked off when pulling a part the dash/ steering column. Cleaning and blasting a few parts, while the body work/prep continues. Hinges and latches etc…… hatch hinges turned out virtually perfect. Assuming these hinges are original to car because as mentioned earlier, hatch with old gasket contained the 9/69 dated clear glass.

Karl Hoglander raced this early 71 in the north east from 1974-1984. Originally as 240 in cP later as a 280 in gt2 as rules changed

I was looking for production date on the other side of engine….. same born on dates for HLs30-00051 as your Hls30-00042… Perfect!!

Wow, that is so beautifully complete… Will be a beauty.!!! Could you post the engine production number to compare to October cars ? Whoops…. Found it…
-
Thank you Carl, Confirmation car is one of approximately 230 HS30 cars built in 1971, which estimation of 180 were gnose HH fairlady ….. leaving only 50 to be Z-L or Z-S Worthy to be restored

Checking numbers…. VIN… HS30-10324 engine block production date …1XO1C ? engine block number..L24- 067522 Blue dot “turns green” when powered up am/fm radio 8-track tape player

Thank you for that information Gavin, digesting evidence and coming up with Nissan intentions for a “press car” without written records is hard to make it make sense 50 years later…. The combination of the red dot radio, and the captured nut for the flat hood bumper at first glance to me was a glaring contradiction. Was there a red dot rear view mirror on the hs30-00004 car. But all of these items could have been added or modified in the past 50 years as well. It is a special car no matter what…. A known z parts specialist nudged me gently, asking me if my hls30-00051 had the proper red dot radio…. Well, just not familiar with the early RDR. Looking through my am radios 1 of 5 happened to have red dot instead of the green dot…… Surprised to have this “rare” item in my stash.

I've seen that on later cars, maybe through 6/70? in LHD HLS30 world. Speaking of doors, I was fortunate to have the original passenger, "right hand" side door, it had the 2 holes for the 2 door panel screws you showed pictures of. I was able to use a similar door, for left hand side. My big curiosity for the doors was the metal tab wire holder on the "floor" of original door, confirmed to be a "real thing" by other 69 car owners. I believe to maintain wiring for aborted door lights.
