Original Key Blanks
People need to remember that Nissan could do (and DID) whatever they wanted to do, within the laws, in regards to parts used in cars for various markets. It would be more than a little presumptuous to expect everything to be identical, market to market, year by year. Get used to it!

Removing 240Z engine....have question.
Remove "A".

Kind of Funny, but sad too.
I've been following this story since the day it occurred. The drunk fool who wrecked it, kept telling the cops for several days that he was the passenger and the guy driving it had split from the scene before authorities arrived. After some investigation it was determined that HE was actually the driver (no passenger was involved) and that the estimated speed at which control was lost was somewhere near 160mph. (all this according to KTTV in LA,CA) Now THAT is a TOOL!

Then someone, at sometime, changed your ignition lock assembly.

Yahoo! Slurp Spider
Waasup with all of the users named "Yahoo! Slurp Spider" showing on the "Who's Online" Pages. Earlier there was also an "AskJeeves Slurp Spider" user shown. Note that these user names do not appear as active links like a registered user name would. IS the site under attack?

Bumping noise
IIRC Rick's noise turned out to be in his sunroof frame.

Any recommendations for battery cables
Not saying that these cables won't work, actually they will most likely work just fine. However the seller states that they have "brass-tin plated OEM pattern terminal ends". In fact, for a 240z at least, the terminal ends are no where near OEM style. I only mention this so someone looking for cables that will appear to be OEM realize that these do not.

anyone buy a z new here???
My Dad and Uncle bought Z's in the early 70's and they have told me that low indicated oil pressure was a known issue even back then. The attachment is page 130 of Michael Hollander's book "The Complete Datsun Guide". It was published in 1979. FWIW, I followed this advice on my 240Z and though the indicated oil pressure is higher, you should be aware that with the engine "OFF", but the Ignition Key turned to "ON" the indicated oil pressure is significantly above "0", so it doesn't appear to me that the change of sender results in greater accuracy under all conditions.

L 24 engine
Your post certainly came off that way. If you want to add something to a thread without appearing to correct someone, perhaps it would be best to not quote others in your post. I did not attack your data or dispute the info posted. I do however dispute that the info you provided has ANYTHING to do with my answer regarding L24's imported to the US by Nissan. I have nothing to retract or apologize for (except perhaps the "crow" comment), but I choose not to apologize for that, since you haven't apologized for correcting me. My initial post stated: and I don't see that any of your info successfully refutes that. Sure a serviceman could have imported an S30 from another market, or someone else could have imported one, or someone could have sourced a part elsewhere and installed it here in the US. No doubt about that, but it would not have been an official Nissan factory (I know you love that word) import, which is what I was refering to.Also, If you read back you'll note that I didn't even comment on your scan, or what it illustrated. I made NO accusations about the info or scan. I stand by my statement that there was NO oil cooler supplied on L24's imported to the USA by Nissan.

L 24 engine
Alan, my first post INTENTIONALLY left room for the POSSIBILITY of a factory option destined for another market (or a car from another market) to be the subject of this thread. Hense the 99.9999997% statement. You may disagree with the percentage that I posted, but I think it's fairly obvious that no one, not even you, could not be that precise. It was MY brand of humor that perhaps you didn't catch. How many cars do you think could have possibly entered the USA with this part in place and survived until 2006? How many 240Z were imported or sold in the US without this part in place? I stand by my statement. It's nice to know the info that you provided, however I fail to see where a correction to my EXACT statement was warranted or necessary. The odds are SLIM that the option you describe is in fact installed on this car. IMO it's fairly obvious that the discussion was about a car in the USA and I fail to see why the discussion needs to include a correction to my post regarding something offered outside of that specific market until/unless pictures or other documentation are provided.

Rebuild a wiper motor in an hour
Thanks Dave. I'll have to save that page for future reference. However, it does look like this is basically a "Kluge" sort of solution, since the Honda motor doesn't automatically return the wipers to the "at rest" position, and the install requires more than minor modifications.

Moonpup, Thanks very much for pointing out the obvious and pertinent parts of my previous post. You save me the trouble of doing so. I wonder if Alan likes "Crow Pie"?

Rebuild a wiper motor in an hour
I thought it was the heater blower motor from Honda's that was used as an upgrade in 240Z's. Can anyone confirm that their wiper motor also can be used in z cars?

What does an E31 head have to do with an oil cooler (aftermarket or otherwise)?
-
L 24 engine
No such animal as a "factory" oil cooler on an L24 (never seen one on an L26 or L28 either) imported to the USA by Nissan. 99.9999997% sure it's aftermarket There may have been an oil cooler available from the "Datsun Competition Catalog", but it would not have been standard equipment on a 240Z, nor would it have been an option on a new car

No High Beams
What are "passing lights"? Momentary High Beams? FWIW, the JH HAYNES Manual is published in England (yes, it's distributed in USA) and probably not based on a North American Market HLS30

Supercharge whine, but, I don't have a supercharger.
Kenz240: I now see that listed on Page 118. Good to know. Usually it's just the bump stop that is built into the bottom of the insulator(s) that turns to dust, at that's what I found on the Z's I've worked on.

Got a radio!
My Uncle said that was what he had in all of his 240Z's back in the day and I had looked for a Pioneer Supertuner for a long time without success. Just lucked into the Kraco unit. I'd have rather had the Pioneer, but the Kraco will be OK for my needs.

Supercharge whine, but, I don't have a supercharger.
I'm wondering if you mean the "bump stops" that usually turn to dust? If so, MSA, and VB sell polyeurethane ones. If you ARE talking about the Strut Mount Insulators made of metal and rubber, I think you are S.O.L.

Fuel in oil on new engine rebuild
Ed: My guess would be that eventually there could be metal particles to be found, but not necessarilly immediately if they weren't too badly damaged. In the case of the Toyota truck that I had a similar problem with, the rings were the first things to show sign of damage (poor compression), and they were the only parts I had to replace other than the carb parts to fix the cause of the problem. FWIW, we only ran the truck for about 30-40 miles before discovering the problem. I had changed the oil on Sunday, and took the truck to get gas for my wife on Monday. Checked the oil and it was 1/2 QT overfull and STUNK.
