Thanks for the link Steve. I wish they had a page showing the colors. Dragon Green and Mount Fuji Blue sound interesting. Chris

Yep, not a stock item. My old 75 280Z had one. They will leak eventually. Chris
  3. Ahh, if only Carl were around to read this thread. His comments would have been priceless. The "old farts" know how he felt about the 350Z. Chris
  4. Around here, more "old men" drive the 350Z than any other age group. Mid-life crisis car???? Although someone needs to tell them that the canary yellow version doesn't match their black socks and birkenstocks! I'm with jmark though, I like the look of the Nismo Z. The new front end is much better. Chris

Crap, they don't have to buy anything. Those that want to drink will sneak it from their parents liquor cabinet or from their friends parents. I hear the horror stories from my wife who works with troubled kids. Chris

Yes, I'm glad it was. Very glad. My local Dealership, Doan-Rose Datsun knew when I walked in the door that they might have to call Mr. Roberts and his staff for something! "We want a Datsun to win, ANY Datsun........" Chris

Ah yes, I went back and looked at that again. Seems like the designation (L) is kind of an afterthought in my opinion. Regarding the bad feelings and personality clashes, I can relate. In my profession the Mack/Volvo marriage has not been a bed of roses. Thanks again for the information. Chris

Thank you Alan and Carl. Two different answers to my question about the Hi-Po L24 engine. Very interesting and I can understand both sides. It's indeed a shame that every market worldwide was not given the full family of S30's. I'd be confident that an S20 or triple carbed L24 model would have sold like hot dogs at Nathan's in the states. I understand all the "lore" of Nissan not wanting to overextend themselves in the U.S. but I'll always be disappointed that they didn't expand the U.S. model lineup when the cars imported here were selling like crazy. Chris

Hello Alan, can you elaborate on this model? One of a kind? Works cars? Please, please tell what you know. Very interesting thread by the way. I was hoping we'd leave the "us versus them" stuff out but its inevitable I guess. I'd give a lot of money to drive the other S30 versions. Just to say that I had!:devious: Chris

I have that system on my 73. Very loud. But I like it! Especially when the motor is turning over 2500. Its not for those that like to listen to music in their Z. The only drawback was the PO cut the rear lower valance to fit over the side by side tips and he did a crappy job. Chris

You can use the 240Z fuel return system even if switching to an electric pump. The underhood piping is essentially the same except for bypassing the mechanical pump on the cylinder head. A longer piece of fuel line from the stock fuel filter on the inner fender to the fuel rail above the alternator. The return lines to the tank don't change at all. I've heard the Mallory pumps are good and quiet. But Beandip's RX-7 pump retrofit is a very common swap. Chris

Yes, but 7 psi is too much pressure for the carbs. I installed a regulator close to the under-hood inspection light. Remove the manual pump and put a blanking plate over the hole. I had a 280Z motor in the 240Z so I didnt have this issue though. I mounted the pump back by the fuel tank. Wish I hadn't as it was EXTREMELY LOUD at idle. Much luck, Chris

Ok, I tweaked my profile. No comments about the guy, just comments about the tattoo. :classic:

Hi Craig, Yep, the tranny will have to come out to replace the leaking front seal. Good time to replace the broken mount as well. You could do it yourself if your comfortable with that kind of major work. Replacing the seal is no big deal, but getting the tranny out is. My advice, take it to a shop. More money, but it should be done faster and with some kind of warranty on the repair. Much luck, Chris
  15. How about finding a 1964 289 Cobra in a barn and NOT giving it a complete restoration...... http://www.motortrend.com/features/consumer/112_0704_1964_shelby_cobra_289/ Chris

Hi Fred, I hate to be the bearer of possible bad news, but diesel oil in a gas engine could, again I say could, lead to a loss of compression and power in your Z engine due to the extremely high level of detergent in Rotella. Diesel truck oils are formulated to combat the high levels of dirt, soot, and ash created in a 8 to 15 liter diesel truck engine. The levels of combustion by-products in a diesel demands manufacturers to add so many additives to diesel oil. Additives to combat heat, anti-foaming (14 gallons of oil sloshing around in an unbaffled oil pan) and prolong oil for 150,000 mile oil change intervals are also added. No, I don't work for an oil company. I work for a Mack Truck dealership, and I would not put diesel oil in any of my gasoline engines. I can't refute your statements about Schneider or Comp cams but I have personal knowledge of severe valve train damage done to a Honda CRV running Mobil Delvac 15W-40. FWIW, Chris

Yep, modern cars have a temperature sensor somewhere in the cooling system. It reaches a specific temp and kicks on the fan. If the sensor goes bad and your girlfriend never pays attention that the fan isnt running and then one day at 60 mph on the highway the head gasket fails because the head is warped so bad it looks like a wavy potato chip....... Thanks Arne for bringing that memory back! Chris

Hi Rick, I can imagine the time, effort and money Will has in this project and that's why I offered to pay the shipping. I thought it would help keep the cost of the final DVD's down a little. Maybe, maybe not. Even if Will has say ten packages to ship back at say $5 a box, we can all do the math. Whatever I can do to help this site, its members and its projects, I will try and help. You made some good suggestions Rick!! Chris

Hey Will, I would like to offer to pay the shipping costs to return all the materials to their owners when the project is done. United Parcel Service of course. PM me when and if this would be ok with you. Chris
