Bench Testing Wiper Motor
Carl and Vicky, on my 72 I can stop the wipers at the top of their arc if I shut the switch off at the right moment. I usually do it on accident and I have to turn the switch on and then off quickly and they'll park at the cowl. I just figured this was a Z quirk. Chris

Clean one on e-bay
Yep, that's what I remember on my 310. The coating seemed to work pretty good on that particular car. It lasted many a salty Nebraska winter and was no worse for wear when I sold it. Chris

That's possible Dave as long as the wiring in the dash would be long enough to reach that area. Looks like I'm going hunting this weekend. Thanks again Mike. Chris

Thanks Mike, so I would just have to get a switch once I've found the wiring. Do you know where the switch would have been placed on a 240Z with the second design console? I wonder if it would go up in the dash in that unused molded area? Chris Went to the link--excellent info.

Good memory Vicky, it was some kind of Knight thing. Black and yellow if I recall. My old 79 310 had been Ziebarted. Had little yellow plugs here and there to seal the holes where they shot the goo in. Car was maroon and the little yellow plugs stood out quite noticably. Chris

Thanks Mike & Carl, my 71 was "loaded" at some time or another. Besides the bumper bars, it had foglights with the built in switch in the console and the wiring appeared to be factory. Makes me wonder if the dealer exchanged the entire front harness when they added those parts. The leads to the lites were INSIDE the harness that fed the headlights and the horns. My 72 and 73 dont have those wires unless they are tied up and hidden somewhere. When I got the car it didnt have the armrest over the console but there were screw holes where something had been mounted. Wish I still had that car but it succumbed to the rust monster. :dead: Chris

So do you all think the chrome overrider bars were not factory Nissan parts? My 71 had the extra bar on the front and the rear. Very interesting, thanks for posting that. Chris

Just bought a factory restored 72 240Z!
To kyteler, I apologize to you directly. The "racist" comment was wrong. What I should have said was this: "Stereotyping: a generalised set of traits and characteristics attributed to a specific ethnic, national, cultural or racial group which gives rise to false expectations that individual members of the group will conform to these traits." I feel this is what you did. That is my opinion and you don't have to accept it. I felt that you generalized me into a group of which I don't belong. I understand your response completely. And I fear you have developed a... "Prejudice: a body of unfounded opinions or attitudes relating to an individual or group that represent them in an unfavourable light" I feel that you should have left the comment about "American Arrogance" out of your post because it had no bearing on the topic. We all have our insecurites and faults. I certainly believe that in all my previous posts to the Kiwi post I had not insinuated that anyone from any other country portrayed a trait I found undesirable. Sincerely, Chris Abbott

The Kiwi comment did go over your head. If you don't get it then you never will. To generalize all Americans as arrogant is wrong. You know it, we all know it. You make me laugh with your little comments about arrogance. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Did you get that? Pompously yours, Chris

Dont know what to say. You've proven yourself and your point very well. Any clear thinking individual can see that. Nobody pissed here but you apparently. Chris

You are wrong. Wrong to lump all Americans into a category. If you had simply asked Vicky to "expand and explain" instead of being insulting then... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I automatically tacked on the general Kiwi racist attitude to your statement. Chris

Back when this program was in its heyday I read a brochure put out by a paint company(cant remember which) that described how the cars were being re-assembled better than original due to modern tires, better brake pad/shoe compounds and because it was the paint companys brochure, better prep/primer/paint than original. Basically the fit and finish of the car is better than original. I knew what Vicky meant. Must be that crazy English language again. Chris

27th z!!!
Hey Chris, I think I said it before but I'll say it again. You are my hero. If I were you and in the same situation, I'd have done it also. Sequential serial numbers below 100. Hell below 1000 or 10,000 would just be awesome. You're right about the money. For most of us, its not an issue. After all, its about the cars. You have my best wishes and I cant wait to see the twins side by side one day, shining in all their glory. :classic: Chris

27th z!!!
Sorry I asked. My drug of choice is Chinaco Tequila. No crack in Nebraska. All we do here is cook meth in our cars in the shopping center parking lots. :stupid:

Hey Carl, I happened to notice the Midwest Z banner at the top of the home page after a refresh and thought I'd click it. Just makes me shake my head in wonder. :tapemouth Chris

Looks like they're making wholesale changes at midwestz.com or they have killed it completely. Footrest?
No disrespect intended, but I can only participate in a thread I feel a connection with. I am fascinated by the brochures and obscure literature I've seen posted on this site. And I have copied most of it, enlarged it and put it in my collection of Z material. But I for one dont feel it necessary to comment about something I know nothing about. I wouldnt want other members who might know about an "option" or seen a car with said "option" to think, "Jeez, what's this guy muttering about, he knows nothing." I was fascinated with this particular thread as a matter of fact. But I made no comments because I've never seen a Z car in person since 1978 that has had this particular option. So, I too applaud the intentions of those willing to start a discussion about any subject related to the Zed, but I'm sure I'm not alone in being one of those who just dont join the thread because they feel they have nothing to offer. Sincerely, Chris Abbott

Cheap 240Z
If you have the money you can get a Skyline in the US now from http://www.motorex.net/skyline.html I'm saving my pennies. It has been my dream car since I was a kid. Fell in love with the KPGC110 and have loved them ever since. The Skyline Silhouette is my all time favorite race car. Simply awesome. Chris
