Castrol 10W-30! What oil are you currently using? Keep using it and don't switch. $.02 Chris A.

Will a 280 engine work in a 240?
If you put the 280 motor in the 240, you'll have to have some exhaust work done. The 280 exhaust manifold is different where the pipes attach. You might have to install an electric fuel pump in the 240. Unless your 280 head has an opening for the mechanical fuel pump. I did this swap and it was easy. Chris A.

Speedhut gauge faces installed, finally!
They work on the principal of Electro Luminescence. Yes, they are wired to the controller sold with the gauge faces. I think you would remove the stock bulbs to avoid backlighting. Primer on Electro Luminescence (EL for short). For us techies... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroluminescence http://www.indiana.edu/~hightech/fpd/papers/ELDs.html Pretty cool stuff, its been around for a long time. Chris

Supreme Gasoline
Here's some interesting reading on knocking and pinging. List at the bottom of the article with many things that could cause pre-ignition. http://www.omegamotors.com/enjoy/gasoline/gasoline_07.html Chris A.

Supreme Gasoline
How's the timing? What dizzy are you running? Might not be fuel related. Some cars will ping if the timing is off even with higher octane fuel. Chris A.

The shoulder belt should attach to the lap belt buckle. Its a two piece affair. You have to align the two together first then buckle the lap belt into the receptacle. No stupid questions here except the ones that don't get asked! Have fun with the Z! Chris A.

Mike, it looks to me to be a switch to change color from blue to green. And the brightness rheostat. Chris A.

A good screw just isn't enough-it must oscillate!
Hi Will, Oh, I'm interested all right. My only decision is whether to go with a "stepper" motor controlled by an electronic timer circuit or go "ac" motor controlled by an electronic quartz oscillator. Gear tooth count, shaft size and motor mounting issues are my main issue. Control is easy but you knew that. Chris A.

Just one of those days...
Jeez Mark, even the thumbnail makes me sad. I don't know if I want to see a bigger picture. Sorry to hear the news about the car.

Perfectly understandable. Without permission I wouldnt want to surgically damage the unobtanium organ. Chris

Choke Warning Light not going out...
The choke light switch is the only thing firing the lamp. Unless the PO did something weird. Or threw it up in the center of the dash and its suddenly come to life. Maybe one of our other members can throw up a picture of it to help you find it. I can't find a picture of the switch anywhere. Chris

Choke Warning Light not going out...
Hmmm, that's odd. Your 73 should be like mine unless you have a 260Z not a 240. If its a 260 I don't know for sure. But the 240Z choke light switch on a 73 is right at the choke lever under the console. The lever comes straight up from the pivot bolt, makes a 90 degree turn for a little ways then goes straight up again. The horizontal section of the lever is what contacts the switch. My car's switch has a pigtail that heads towards the fuse box and connects to the main harness under the heater controls. Chris A.

Choke Warning Light not going out...
There is a small switch under the center console that is contacted by the choke lever. I'll bet the switch is loose and when the choke is off the lever is not pressing the switch button in. Chris A.

Video - Take a ride in my 510
That is a tremendous combination in itself. From what I've learned, and then forgot as I'm into the L6's now, the L20B head when well massaged would really make a LZ22 bottom end come alive. Back in the day when I terrorized people with a modified L20B twin carb in a butt ugly 77 200SX I always wished for a seriously tuned LZ22. I always wondered if the Z22 twin plug cross flow head could have been made into a screamer. Thanks again for the vid Victor. Chris A.

350Z - Bought it..Raced it..Killed it!
Amen Brother....there are a lot of folks here that are fit to be tied over this mess. The state lawmakers said that the driving with no license offense is not an arrestable issue. The cops hands are tied. Its a misdemeanor offense and all they can do is write ticket after ticket. The young man has money and simply pays the fines and court costs each time and is back out on the road. If he didnt have money he would have been incarcerated by now. Maybe, just maybe the current judge in the manslaughter charge will find a way to do what's right for the innocent people of this city. Hope! Chris A.

350Z - Bought it..Raced it..Killed it!
Hi Ron, our city is currently prosecuting a 17 year old who killed his 15 year old passenger March 26th. He hit a tree also at high speed. He walked away. He did NOT have a driver's license at the time. Because he had EIGHT convictions for driving without a license between October and this week. He also has been ticketed for reckless driving and for leaving the scene of an accident in October, among other things. I know we all hope that reckless drivers don't try crazy stunts again after a major incident but you just wonder sometimes. The 17 year old I'm talking about was pulled over and ticketed for no license ONE DAY after being charged with vehicular manslaughter. UNBELIEVABLE!! I'm glad the girl in the Z did not die. Chris A.

SpareTire
Hi Arne, I have a 240SX for a daily driver. The spare is a space saver. I will have to check the fitment on a Z. I know the other 4 wheels wont fit a Z. Too much offset, hits the struts. But the space saver might fit. FWIW, Chris A.
