Thanks for the video Eric, great stuff. Anybody know if the white car in the beginning scenes was a 906 Carrera? It was the one with the gullwing doors. Thanks again, Chris A.

Interesting 240Z Listing on Ebay
For the price, I'd be a little concerned about the looks of the floor support and pan. Looks beat to crap to me. $2500 car and thats all.

So my dad has forgot my birthday...
Please be thankful for your father, even with his faults. Someday he'll be gone and you might regret the times you were angry at him. Trust me, I know first hand. Regards, Chris A.

remember when........
Hi Carl, Sent you a PM. I don't doubt the potentially great knowledge this thread COULD hold. But I see it also as a possible breeding ground for another argumentative slugfest between individuals with completely different backgrounds and upbringings. Chris A.

Half-Shafted
Hi Garth and all, I have thought about the clamp issue for years. A long time ago I worked in a Rain Bird sprinkler distributor. We sold a crimp-on clamp made by Oetiker. They are very close to our half shaft clamps and available in many sizes. You can check them out here. www.oetiker.com or here www.pep-plastic.com/manufacturers/newage/oetiker.htm My old Rain Bird shop had a crimping tool you could rent. But I have seen them on the web for around $28 USD. I personally have used the clamp and tool and I think when I do my half shafts I'm going this route. They have a stainless version so I won't worry about rusting. FWIW, Chris A.

More Z's on Ebay....Very Sad
Hey All, Surfing around on eBay and found this auction. Very sad. Wish I had money and a larger storage facility. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-1973-1974-datsun-240z-260z_W0QQitemZ8038092304QQcategoryZ6783QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Chris

Heritage Certificate
I guess I got lucky, I'm the second owner and I have the bill of sale to the original owner from the Datsun Dealer in Omaha. It was Dean Rawson Datsun if I remember correctly. Been a long time since I looked through that paper work. I do remember that the original owner of my Z traded in a 455 Firebird for it. I'm guessing the price of fuel in 73 was a factor in his decision. Ahh to pay that price for fuel today! FWIW, Chris

Best Long Term Storage for L24
Hi Marty, I took a intake/exhaust gasket to my local metal shop. They cut me a piece of 3/16 aluminum to match the outline of the gasket. I used the gasket and the aluminum to seal off the ports. I made my own for the thermostat housing hole and fuel pump hole. Left the spark plugs in the head. Capped off the block vent tube, heater hose barb(in the head) and breather nipple on the valve cover. I just used cheap little plastic caps from the hardware store. Before I did all this I lubed the upper cylinders (as others mentioned) and I sprayed the cam with white lithium grease and used my hand to smear it all over everything in the valve train. Hopefully minimizing any rusting due to moisture in the air that might get in. You and I both know how humid it gets in the Midwest. I have heard of people getting those little silica desscicant packets and putting them in various places in a motor. But that might be unneccesary. I also heard once of a guy who filled his motor with oil till it was at the oil fill cap on the valve cover. That seems like a lot of oil but it would sure stop rust! Anyway, good luck with the project. I'll be interested in hearing about your different engine when she's in and running. Chris A.

Patrol On ebay.
Hey Guys, If any of you are serious about a Patrol, there is one near me for sale. Its a late 60's. It has its original drivetrain but has some wiring mods in the cab and under the hood. I looked at it last month. Not too rusty on the body. Not original paint, now red. Bigger tires and wheels (black rims). I can get some pictures if anybody is SERIOUSLY interested as its a bit of a drive to go see it. Chris A.

Hey Bill, I think those are Taylor Red 8mm on that beast. Still good wires though. MSD Blaster Coil also. Just looked at your pictures to refresh my memory and yep, they're definitely Taylor wires. Chris
