  1. Carl working on his wipers today reminded me of a "suitable part from other makes" part on my car. Western Star truck wiper washer pump. #62912-3401. Fits the stock resevoir and requires minor electrical mods. For those of you that arent concerned with originality this part has worked well for me. Chris

Thanks Carl, I'm doing the work at my shop as I have all the big tools here. Love to have that mill in my home garage. Scared to put 6,000 pounds on my garage floor. Might end up in China. I have to say to all those who might consider making this tool for themselves that the parts arent really expensive. I got the the thrust bearings from www.mscdirect.com and the rest from the local machine shop. The thread taps have turned out to be the most expensive. I had metric taps on hand but had to buy the 1/2-13NC taps. After mushrooming the pins on my 71 I decided I had to have this tool. Someday when I get my 2 other Z's out of storage then I'll be ready. I plan on giving the tool its first workout on my daily driver 72. The 73 already has poly everywhere. Chris

Gary (beandip) sent me the specs for this tool. I am building one for myself and one for sale or loan. I am currently tapping the neccesary threads in the barstock that attaches to the pull rod and the end of the spindle pin. I will attach some pics of my progress so far. Thanks again to Gary. Chris
  4. I got my copy at Barnes & Noble if anybody is looking. Chris
  5. Ed beat me to it. I can do it for you also if it doesnt work out with Ed. Chris

I have those in my garage, keeps the cars the right distance away from the work benches, shelving, and tool chests. Cant comment on the e-brake issue because I dont ever use it. I would think leaving a car in gear would only stress things if it's parked on a relatively steep hill. My 72 is an automatic and its usually parked in the P postion so I wouldnt see any harm to leave a manual in first. Come to think, my 73 is in the garage in reverse right now. FWIW Chris

Hey Ed that looks great. Can you give us a little info on how you accomplished that? Spent my weekend with family, relaxing in the shade, drinking cold beverages, grilling good food, splashing in the pool. Chris

  11. Thanks for the tool specs Gary. I'll miss you. Chris
  12. Hey Tomo, get some of the clamps from a 240SX. The ones below and above the fuel filter will work for you. And they are worm type high pressure. My 240SX has them and I put them on my wife's 280Z before we sold it. The hose must be high pressure rated, but you knew that I'm sure. FWIW Chris

I took Bambikiller's advice and got some Boss Gloss from the POR15 website. Its a good product with no silicone. Some of you may have tried it and not liked it but with all the products out there its like the motor oil analogy. Product A versus Product B. To each his own. But, I dont use Armor All, never have never will. On a side note, my wife's 240SX has had its dash hit with lemon Pledge since 1990. Nice smell and nice results. Granted the dash is not the same material. FWIW, Chris

I have heard that the Supra Turbo intercooler can work, and the Isuzu NPR truck intercooler will work. Those are cheaper alternatives than getting the three expensive name brands you listed. The Isuzu truck might be harder to find if you have no salvage yards for truck parts in your area. Chris
  15. Hey Gary, I have about a quarter inch all the way across on my 72. Hope that helps you. Much luck, Chris

If you connect this orange wire to a bulb wire on one of the three gauges above the radio would that solve your problem? Just guessing. Since you said the previous radio was on the fritz and causing other problems I would sort out the car's problems and then wire in the stereo. FWIW Chris

Thanks Enrique and Carl, I had forgotten about the bag. When I stripped my 71 down years ago I was shocked when I found the motor in the bag. I wonder how "weatherproof" it really is. Chris

Chris, that's excellent stuff. Now it's just a matter of finding that fog lamp switch somewhere. You wouldn't happen to have the part number for it would you? Thanks, ChrisA

Hi Enrique, That's an interesting picture of the console cover. It looks like two switches in the center and two switches to the right where the choke like would be on my car. Never ever seen anything like that. COOL!! Your drawing is a dead ringer for the hazard lite switch in my 72 except my switch says "FLASH" on it I believe. Thanks for the info. Chris

Thanks Enrique, that is some of the most useful info I've ever gleaned here yet. Can I get to this cap without taking the motor out of the car? Thanks, Chris

Thanks Enrique, most helpful. So if I'm reading you right on a "series 2" car the "Fasten Seat Belt" lamp in the center of the fuse cover would have been the location of the switch on a fog lite equipped car? If this is so, I wonder where the "Fasten Seat Belt" indicator would have moved to or would the car just not have had one. Again, thanks for the information. If anybody has pictures of said fog lite switches in any year S30 please post them. Thanks. Chris

Interesting to me Ben, shoot away. It would show what to look for. How do you think the Ziebart is doing for your car? Chris
