I have used weed trimmer line before. Comes in a variety of diameters and colors. Slightly oversize stuff held the rivet in really tight. FWIW Chris
  3. :stupid: Looks like you're taking the tranny out. Chris

Hey Ed, I drilled the hole and tapped it for 1/4" NPT. I had the same problem as you. Couldnt find metric plugs here. Got a NPT tap from the local tool supplier. Worked well. My .02 Chris

Hey Splice, good luck with your project. Be safe and make sure you secure the motor to the hoist and then the stand. That long motor can really wobble on an engine stand. I added bracing to my stand, seemed to help with stability. Much luck, Chris

I'm sure Steve hasn't fallen for this but it is a valid point. My dad was selling his Chevy Venture minivan and almost got sucked into a deal exactly as Enrique described. Luckily his business accountant alerted him to that scam. I don't recall where the "buyer" was located but it was Eastern Europe somewhere. I have heard Nigeria has a big scam running using stolen credit card numbers. Seller Beware!! Chris
  11. You may want to go to hybridz.org for 4 barrel info. Most members here run stock carbs or triples. Chris

Will is right. Get yourself one of those tilting attachments for the hoist. As you're removing the motor/tranny combo you can tilt the assembly to clear the radiator support and the firewall at the same time. Worked for me, just dont forget the speedo cable!:stupid: Much luck! Chris 72 with L28/SU's

I've read this thread with great interest. I dont have a 69 or 70 but I thought it interesting how much higher my engine # is compared to the VIN #. I suspect its due to the L24 going into other vehicles or maybe they were not all that accurate with the block numbering. FWIW Chris

Hey Vicky, thanks again for your concern. I went for a drive last night and it was 18.4 miles to the worst damage. There was minor stuff closer but the F4 twister was just too close for comfort. I do have a bunker in the basement. I've heard that some of the people who got hit didnt have basements. Holy Cow that would be scary. I heard one family rode it out in their bathtub in the center of the house. I was at a restaurant in Grand Island Nebraska back in 1980 and an hour or so later the city got hit with 5 twisters from one supercell. Wicked weather. Hurricanes make me nervous as well. I lived in Coral Gables for awhile but never got to experience a hurricane. My uncle shot home movies of the twisters that clobbered Omaha in 75. We watch it every now and then. Morbid but fascinating at the same time. Z-ya, Chris

19 confirmed touchdowns Saturday Night. Closest was about 12 miles from me. Count my blessings today!! Three people I know have nothing left. Makes me appreciate things more today. Like all you Z people. This morning people are finding debris as far as 73 miles away. Simply amazing the power of Mother Nature. Peace Chris
