280Z Stalls While Cornering.
Ok, i was just outside, this is wierd. The car started up like a champ just now, but after turning it off, i was checking all my electrical connections at the ignition relay, moved some stuff around, tried to start it again, but she would go! so i moved the wiring at the ignition relay again, and suprise suprise, she starts up just fine! guess i gotta start replacing some wires

280Z Stalls While Cornering.
Well, it started one night when we were trying to figure out why i had a huge clunk when i shifted hard, we where taking a corner pretty hard and the car stalled out. I could smell burning wires, and saw some smoke come frome the cowl area. The car wouldnt even start untill a pal of mine came over and we replaced the fusible links and some wiring to the fuel pump. I also bought a new fuel pump relay. So, the car starts just fine, but the really f-ed up part is, when ever i take a corner i can hear click click click, my relays going on and off, and the car begins to stall again, and jerks back and forth like crazy....but the second i straighten her out, she flies just fine. I have posted this question in many forums, and still have no leads at all....i am in fact doing a 350sbc swap, but its supposed to be really cold in Calgary right now, but is like summer, and i really want to take the Z out a bit more before throwing the chev in it.....any suggestions at all are appreciated. Thanks.

Kinda Stranded At School.
Hey guys,im in my first class of the morning, and im in trouble. Last night me and my pal got the Z running like a champ, took it for a spin and all was well, after fixing up some links and some wiring, it magically runs again! well today i think i made a major discovery. While we where working i had the steering console off, exposing all the wiring. Now, this wiring was moved around quite a bit while we worked on it, not intentionally. This morning i saw it fit to take the Z to school, but i started noticing somthing on the last few left turns i took, the car was begining to die out, just like that night it happened the first time....and if i think back, it happened on a hard left turn just coming away from my house. When it happeneds, i can tell the fuel pump is shutting off, and the relays in the kick panel are going off and on, so i am pretty sure there is loose wiring in the steering console....any suggestions? im going to see if i can resolve this at lunch time, i really dont want the Z stranded at my school.

Z Still not starting
This comes at a bad time, because i have an sr20 for my car and we are changing out the entire harness and ecu of course, but i really wanted to finish the year with a running Z.

Z Still not starting
Sorry, i did just get a fsm for a 77, but today somthing kinda bad/good happened. I opened up my relay box for and moved my fuel pump relay, and it pulled a bit on the main enginebay harness..... then i heard that damn sizzling, and a huge burst of smoke blew into my face, coming right out of the main harness.....so its gotta be a short somwhere in there....at least i found the problem area.

Z Still not starting
I disconnect the battery every time im away from it. I keep thinking in my mind there's somthing behind the fan controls that is getting bumped around, but how likley is that? is there any wiring going from the drivers side to the passenger side that could have anything to do with a fuel pump?

Z Still not starting
Major headway tonight, got the car started 3 times, ran fine, fuelpump was getting power, and all everyting was running OK (guage lights are still out for some reason) anyways, i got it to start when i accidentally hit the fan control switch (on off, speed control) and i heard some relays clicking. That got me exited, so i started the car and it game me a bit of a backfire, so i moved the fan control switches a bit more and hit the console a bit....fired up just fine after that. But on the third time it wouldnt flash any more, but here's the really odd thing, anytime i play around with the fan switchs or shove the console around i can hear relays clicking. So i think tomorrow i will open up that entire area and see what's going on.....im almost positive thats where the problem is.....maybe some loose connection or somthing. Opinions?

Z Still not starting
Actually, at the on position and the start position one of the relays clicks, at the passenger side kick pannel, and it does it again if i take the wire on and off from the fusable link closer to the front of the car.

Z Still not starting

Z Still not starting
Hey guys, as some of you may know, i was taking my car out of my garage a little while ago and it just shut off, i could almost swear i saw some kind of white some come out of the hood vent or the cowl, and i could smell what i thought where wires or plastic burning. I replaced the fuel pump relay today, and still nothing. The problem is, the fuel pump is getting no power at all, when i hotwire the pump the car will flash, then die again. Sorry for making another thread about it guys, but i really need the car going again, seeing it sit there is really getting to me. Thanks alot, any help is greatly appreciated. P.S the relays should click when i go into the on position right? because there is no noise at all.

Z's and Snow
Just wondering, how do the 240/60/80 Z's handle in the snow? is it a stupid idea to even try?

More Fuel pump related problems.
I'm actually trying to get my hands on a service manuel. By the way, how does one go about testing a relay? i have the ignition relay out, and i'm trying to source one at the moment.

More Fuel pump related problems.
Two nights ago i was just pulling away from my house, and my z lost all power, i could smell what i thought where burning wires, and upon closer inspection, my pump is getting no power at all. This leads me to believe there may have been a short somwhere in the wiring. I can not seem to find any melted wires though. I have all my lights, wipers, spark and starter, but no fuel. Any advice on finding this problem area?
