Tachometer Problem
Hey guys, i took the car around for a few minutes today, and only noticed one problem. I open up in second gear, and then take my foot off the accelerator, my tachometer goes wonky, going back and forth while it decelerates, and after about 5 seconds it returns to normal. This is very strange to me, any thoughts?

FINALLY! Getting another Z
Haha, car gets registered and insured in a couple days. My last car was a disaster when i bought it, just the body though, i had it running after like 3 fuel pumps.

Yup, im sure the car has been repainted, no original paintjob can last that long out here The car was about 75% done, it was almost done paint prep and it only needed brakes and suspension, the car wasnt insured or registered in my name yet, so when winter came around the project really slowed down, and a certain family member had the idea that i abandoned the car, so, it was sold. i was really bummed out when that happened.

FINALLY! Getting another Z
Hey guys, after my Black Pearl was sold (Was done behind my back and without my permission) i really wanted another Classic Z, so, many months of searching have finally paid off, i found a 1978 280z, 5spd, pearl white, with 79,000 miles on it. Thank god, the floorpans dont have cancer on them, and the entire frame is very sturdy. The bad: the shifter is broken off about 1/2 way up (no clue how that happened) the drivers side doorpanel is grey, while the rest of the interior is black, and the center console is missing, but other than that, the car is very nice, and im sure i can get it for around $2200 (Canadian), even though he's asking close to 3. So, how does that sound to you fellers? i think im going to go for it.

Hey guys, i found out quite a while ago that i needed a new fuel pump, but i i still have not figured out why the hell it smells like gas every time my car is turned over... i really dont get it.

Electrical Modifications For Turbo's?
Hey guys, for no reason at all, i just felt like asking: When people swap L28ET's into a 280Z, what do they change in terms of the electrical system? and what about a Twin Turbo l28, what goes on with the electric system their? i just thought it would be interesting to read up on. Thanks.

Need Help.
Well boys, i thought i would have some help on the body but i'm basically all by my self. So i really need some advice. 1: Their is a huge hole in my driver's side floor pan, plus a small one behind it, what tool should i use to cut the rust out? after that i'll grind the rest of the rust off, then what type of chemical do i use? then weld metal on, then what do i do after that? some type of liner? 2: my carpet has dry rot and rust on it, i really dont want to pay over $150 American and have it shipped to me, what else can i do? 3: my left rear 1/4 is very bad, as well as the right side one, what are some practicall solutions? 4: my passenger floor pan is flaking like a bitch, what should i do? 5: the last person that was dicking around with my car for some off reason used the rad support to put over the jack, it bent in a bit, what can i do? 6: my frame rails are very weak in some spots, as well as this problem. If you follow the rail to the front of the car, where the rail wall gets larger, their is a hole in the rail, any suggestions? I'm really hoping to get the car finished by April, now that the engine is where i want it to be, i really need to tackle this body work.

Positive, installed it 3 times and it still perfromed the same way it did when i tested it off the car.

Hey guys, i recently found a good deal on a fuel pump at part source, $75.00, because mine wasnt making alot of pressure. So i go in and ask the guy to double check on the computer that this will work on a FUEL INJECTED 2.8L from a 280z. he tells me again "yes yes yes" like i was an idiot, so i take it home and fire it on to the Datsun (took a while) and i start it up. Minus the start it up part, it clearly wasnt pumping out even half of the pressure it needed, when i took it off and tested it out with a 12v and a pressure gauge it got up to 3psi. So of course i swear alot and get pissed off, then i go the part maker's website, and under 240z,260z and 280z is the exact same fuel pump, the one i bought. so i went back to return it and it looks like i will not be getting a refund...AHHHHHHH. has anyone else bought parts from federal mogul? because you shouldnt.

240Z Engine plus Carburetors
Hey guys, i just got a really sweet deal on an L24 and Round top Carbs to go with it! ($60CAD) i know puting 240 carbs on 280's is nothing new, but i cant seem to find alot of info on how to do it. So what modifications are needed to do this? also, what kind of performance changes will take place? Thanks for the help. (p.s feel free to say its a stupid idea and i shouldnt do it)

Yea, i think i'll try as hard as i can, even though the lady i just talked to quoted the decals around $270 ....yikes....oh well, it'll be worth it.

It was close :disappoin but i took some time, thought about it, and decided that would have been a very bad decision....You know, some times you just want to give up! but thank god i didnt, i just moved the car to a better garage, and its coming along very well. Cant wait untill the spring, i get to show all of the Talons and Neons who's boss at my school! Thanks for all the replys, thats exactly what i was looking for. Oh, and im actually restoring the car very close to the BPE it once was, Original paint and decals, i just have a deal on some engines and im thinking about a L28et for now, because i could Re-install the L28 later on....but their is also the slight modifications i would still havto make, so its still really up in the air. (plus, i was interested on what you could do to an engine of its age.) Oh, and Stephen, you prove an amazingly accurate point, With all these insane modifications and such happeing to these cars, its hard to not want to do the same

Hey guys, for a while now i have been thinking about a l28et, can anyone tell me of mods people do on them and how the stock turbo performs, or if people replace them, and how to get more horse power out of one? Also, does anyone know of a 3000/3100 stroker turbo engine ever being done?

Do you guys know of any 1 way valves in the fuel lines? i want to know, if i pump air from the line after the fuel pump, to the other end right before the fuel filter, should i feel air on the other side? cuz the air wont go anywhere.

Does anyone know if the Z's Fuel line has a 1 way valve or somthing other than build up that could be preventing air from going through the line? i just want to make sure before i take my fuel line out. Thanks.

what should i use to pump high pressure air through the lines? and, my car has been sitting in a field for god knows how long, but it doesent look like any problems with the tank, i put the hose from my pump into a catch pan and turned the car to ON, and clean fuel jetted out, when i cranked it, lots of clean fuel came out, but who knows, ill check to make sure. Thanks for all the help so far guys!

Hey guys, so today, i was under my car, trying to find my problem. I now 100% think that the fuel line has gunk in it, i ran a hose directly from my fuel pump to a catch, cranked it and thanks god, the fuel pump is in perfect working order. I reconnected it, and disconnected the line under the filter, ran it into a catch, cranked it, and nothing happened. So, i put a hand pump where the pump goes to the front of the car, then left the tube under the filter open, and pumped, nothing came out, not even air. So, what do you guys think i should do?
