Thanks for the replys, but, i just talked to that guy, and he said he had a Buick Regal, he installed a electric fuel pump, and had the EXACT problems i did, he talked to a mechanic and he said "Its the fuel pump, need a new one" but the owner of the regal checked the rubber hoses on the fuel line, and it turns out their was a cut in it, and before it compleatly stopped working, it sounded just like mine, poping, sputtering, losing power when throttle was applyed....i also am leaning towards this because it stoped working then i put new fuel line in the engine bay, i checked that, no breaks or anything, so tomorrow ill jack it up and check all the other areas. What do you guys think?

Actually now, the car doesent run at all, right when i changed the rubber line, could this still be because of the problem you where describing? if so, what do you recommend doing? thanks

Damn, so if my key is in the start or run position, and the pump isnt going, the pump is gonzo? my pump starts after i try starting like 5 times, then i only hear it running for a short time....so the problem must be in the electrical system

Hey guys, for fuel injected l28's, how long does it take for you to hear your fuel pump running? mine runs after i turn the key, i just wanted to know if thats normal, because a guy looking at my car said thats not right. -Thanks

Well, i decided selling it would be a retarted idea, i have been looking around for some original PB decals, but i cant find any, when i get a hold of my dads Digital camera, ill take pictures of the code and where the decal hasnt been totally taken off. The only reason i was thinking about it was that if i do any mods its not really a Black Pearl, oh well. (oh, and that whole fuel delivery thing, it was due to the fact that it had been sitting in a field for so long, so the lines, tank and injectors are being cleaned out)

Hey guys, im thinking of selling my Z (for a better one) what do you guys think a good price would be for: A 1978 Datsun 280Z, Black Pearl Edition Floor rebuilt, no bondo at all, New Pearl black paint job, all accessorys (louvers, ect) Rebuilt engine, 5spd, original radio and speakers. This hasnt been ALL done at the moment, but it will be at the end of this month. So, do you guys have any figures in your heads? i just want to get an idea.

So how would i go about fixing this, if it is in fact my problem?

After it hooks on the safety latch i push down and it feels like somthing is blocking the hole...ill try all of you advice guys, thanks a lot.

heh, its ok, i didnt know the problem could be so broad any ways, but i have one last question, where do you recommend i look for a new fuel pump? its pretty hard to find scrapyard Z's around here.

:disappoin no such a thing in calgary, a Z of any kind here is very rare. -Oh and since the situation changed a lot i thought i could post again, well stupid me, i should just give up because you know, i dont have a clue about cars.

Have any of you guys had the problem where your hood wont fully close? First of all, i need to hold the little catch thing open so it will lock in place, and then it wont go any further. I cant push it down any farther, so the hood is open about 1" all the time. I have tryed holding the release and shutting it, but it wont work. Do you guys have any solutions?

Well i replaced it with a very direct, hard rubber line. Now the engine wont start at all, the starter just keeps on trying but it wont turn over...what the hell. Maybe the kinks in the line helped the messed up fuel pump build more pressure, so every time i tryed to start up, it kept building up untill it finally started, then it ran bad because it lacked fuel. But also, i can always smell alot of fuel when i start it up, so it seemed like either the charcole canister filter was needing replacement or it was running rich...Any ideas guys? thanks.

The fuel filter isnt the problem, its the rubber hoses going to and from it. Sorry if it was a bad explanation.

Hey guys, so a while ago i was asking about my engine, it felt and sounded like it wasnt getting enough fuel, and it kept choking out and dieing. Well i looked at the fuel filter and sure enough, their are two collapsed and kinked areas in the rubber hoses, so it was cutting off alot of fuel. Anyone else have this problem? i want to make a new metal fuel line in that area, any advice? thanks. -Fixed

Hey guys, my Z has fallen to a bad case of rust in the floor pans, and that ended up getting on my carpet, as well as dry rot. I see that MSA charges an assload of money for a new kit, so do you guys have any alternate ideas? i hear people have taken their carpet to home depot or whatever and they can get somthing very close to the original for alot less than MSA. Also, any alternatives to weather stripping? thanks alot. -Mike

Hey guys, my 280z was sitting in a field for more than 3 years, and when i tryed to take it out for a drive, it felt like the brakes where starting to slow it down, untill it couldent go any farther. Also, the E-brake light never goes off, so do you guys think that my ebrake cable could be stuck?
