  1. You know ... Yamaha has a snowmobile that can break 100mph now....
  2. Hey, grantman, I'll post up a pic of mine after the final coat is shot on in next weekend. They'll probably look identical (except for the bumper overrider). Sweet ride! Congrats!
  3. "Dropping" the mixture nut will richen up the mixture. To lean the mixture you need to screw your nut (, ) into the carb body. Looking at the carb from the top, turn the nut counter-clockwise. Looking at the carb from the bottom, turn the nut clockwise.
  4. Here is the left side, you can see by the hood that the left front is pushed down slightly. I had to have the same work done to my 240 and the frame work only took a few hours to fix by machine at a frame shop. Other than this the car is very straight.
  5. No engine, no transmission, dash cracked and missing clock, interior gone. Body has damage to front left by headlight. Rust under battery and front section of passenger floor. Surface rust on roof, but not pitted. No signs of rust anywhere else. I've looked real hard, too. Car has all the glass and suspension. This car could make a decent start for a project or a good parts car. $200 Located in San Antonio, TX Ken @ 210-699-6436
  6. Well, i just put the doors back on my car (been off for about 2 yrs). And I aligned it by myself using paint sticks. The paint sticks I have are about 1/8" thick and I broke them into 3 pieces. I took a stack (3 pcs/each) and placed them on the door sill in the front and the back of the sill, so that the door actually rested on the paint sticks. I found that this will put the height of the door just perfect with the body. Now you just have to get the spacing from the fender and rear qtr right. With the bolts loose on the hinges, you can slide the door forward or rearward until it looks right. Then just tighten up the bolts. I found that I can tighten about 3 of the bolts through the window. Tighten as many as you can this way real tight, then open the door, reach up under the dash and tighten the rest. If you don't have them tight enough, when you open the door it'll fall and all the alignment will be off.
  7. ZmeFly, Keep a journal (or good mental account) of your trip. When you get back, write it all down, so those of us that can't go with you can still share in your experience. It's too bad you're not coming any further south than OK. As ih-10 out of LA will take you within 3 miles of my house in San Antonio! The only thing I can offer though is a place to stay. Good luck on the trip, congrats on the new car, and by all means, enjoy the hell out of this ride!
  8. I'm in the process of doing this right now. I'm going to be going with a local guy, but the information is the same. Go with Classic Car insurance. (I did a search on the net and came up with a few places nationwide, one being a local Texas based company) They take some pictures of the car, you both setup an agreed-upon value, and there will be some mileage restrictions. Mine will be a full coverage policy, $5000 agreed value, w/ a 5000 mile mileage limit per year. All for only $125 for the entire year!
  9. A Haynes manual has a pretty good section on the torque ratings for most areas on the car. You can also check in the Factory Service Manual in the particular sections. It'll be listed there. Also, Haynes will usually have a section listing the general torque values for each bolt size. I'd check in either of these manuals for what you're looking for.
  10. Since I'm involved in this year's convention, I'll throw this out. As of last month we are already looking at hosting the largest, most heavily attended National Convention yet. As was mentioned, the dates are June 17-21. The Convention unofficially kicks off on Sunday, June 16 with the arrival of 2 caravans, one from Dallas and the other from Houston, both sponsored by the respective area clubs. Both caravans will be arranged by year starting with the earliest cars, with the new 350Z bringing up the rear of the Dallas group. Estimated numbers of both groups is 250+ cars! We're already planning on shutting down the highway when they get here. Monday is registration with plenty of time to wander through beautiful San Antonio. Tuesday is the Hill Country Tour. Some of the most beautiful, and fun roads in Texas are only 15 minutes away! Wednesday is the Car Show, and is being held at ranch in a classic Texas setting. Buses will be provided for those not wanting to drive. Thursday is the day at the river and water park, along with a Simpson Racing Factory Tour. Friday are the drag and autocross races. More information can be found at San Antonio's Z-Sport club website, www.z-sport.com As far as attendance, Mr. K will be there (as always) along with at least 5 other top executives from Nissan Japan. We have also heard that about 20 members from a Japanese Z club will be in attendance along with some of their cars. We have gotten pre-registrations from as far away as Nirobi! We have people coming from all over the world and there will be heavy auto-press coverage also. If you attend only one National Convention, this is the one to be at. (Sorry for the sales pitch, but we're really excited about this!)
  11. 2Many is correct on the gauge thicknesses used, but to be safe and to make welding easier, you should probably stick with the 18 ga. It's not going to hurt, but it sure will make it easier if you don't have much welding experience. And the 18 ga will still be pretty easy to shape, also. If you are borrowing the MIG, great. It's less you have to spend. But do go out and get ahold of the thinnest wire you get your hands on. Too thick of a wire and you'll end up with either a "cold weld" or burning a hole through the metal. Burning a hole is the worst of the two. Take your time and if you haven't done much welding, practice first. Much better to mess up a scrap piece of metal than to turn your car into scrap.
  12. One thing is sure, this red will definitely stand out! Now for a quick question....anybody know what would be good to use to clean up the overspray from off my garage floor?

Finally, the darn thing has some paint on it...
  15. This was the final parting shot for the day...
  16. The body finally has paint. But I still have 2 more coats to go.
  17. Well, this is how I spent my Saturday. Finally getting the first full coat of paint on my car. Isn't 905 Red beautiful? The pictures show how the car looked this morning and then what it looks like this afternoon.
