Adjusting Doors
Not only is this post helpful to me, but methinks it will be helpful to many others in the future. Do you have any realtives in the Southeast? I have a good friend that shares your last name, or at least a variant, (Conan Scanlan) that lives in Auburn, AL.

Help adjusting striker plates
I had performed a search for "door and striker", but did not find what I was looking for. Your post seems to answer my questions though. Thanks. I plan to have another go at it tomorrow. I read in another post that you can loosen the striker plate bolts slightly, and close the door while holding the handle up, and this would push the plate into the correct position. Do you know if that will work? If not, I believe you have given me the info I need to correct the problem.

Help adjusting striker plates
When I got my car, the doors did not line up flush with the body when they were closed. I decided to try and adjust the striker plates to fix the problem, and created a bigger one. The driver door now lines up nicely, but I have to pull up on the handle a good bit harder than before for it to open. When it does open, it "pops" open. After screwing with the passenger door plate for 3 or so hours, I could get the door to line up fairly nicely, but you cannot open it without pushing on the edge of the door. In addition, you cannot lock it either. I put the key in the door, but it will not turn. Is there an easier way to tell what position those damn plates should be in? I was thinking I had either the top or the bottom of the plate shifted too far, but that does not appear to be the issue. Please help. I am extremely frustrated.

'75 280 - front
Thanks! I got her from the second owner (with 88k original miles) and was told that she is completely stock except the stereo and wheels. Based on that, I guess they did come that way in '75? Anyone know for sure?

Excellent. I think I will go ahead and change the tranny and diff oil too.

Dome light not working
I just got my car today. The dome light does not function. According to the owners manual it should be spring loaded on one side? If you push up on it, it just flops around. How do I go about fixing it?

What's your in gear speed at 4000rpm?
They are the same. :classic:

Rear end Clunk
How much are the mounts? Do I have to remove the diff to replace them?

Rear end Clunk
When does the "clunk" occur? Mine seems to do it a little bit when I lift off the throttle from acceleration. Is that the same problem?

coil overs - please help
Not sure how similar the install will be, but on my Talon the perch is about an inch from the bottom of the sleeve, which yields about a 2" lower stance. It has very stiff spring rates though, so it may be a little different.

What's your in gear speed at 4000rpm?
Dunno if it helps, but at 4k in 4th gear I am at about 85-90 mph. My car is a '75 280 with a 4-speed. It is completely stock (just got it today).

5 Speed Swap
I just got my Z today. It is a '75 280 with a 4-speed. I noticed it tachs up to about 4000 rpms at highway speeds. Is it worth swapping in a 5-speed for less wear on the engine? How much better is the mileage? How much does it help with acceleration? Sorry if this has been covered extensively, but I am a newb to the Z world. I must say, after the 4 hour drive home, I am really starting to love the car... especially since I have finally figured out most of the controls and whatnot.
