  1. From the "Retro Car Syndicate of Thailand"! Here's a link to their website: http://www.bangkokclassiccar.com/forum/index.php?topic=24287.0
  2. On the 71. Seems to read about halfway between that half point mark and the highest reading. This after car fully warmed up and cruising at 3000 RPM. Then goes back to just above halfway marker at idle. It is higher than it used to be.I don't know if this is something to be concerned about our not. Maybe just the sender? Think it means anything bad?
  3. I'm not sure if a 1976 would have EGR or not, if it was not sold in California?? If all your sensors are hooked up and OK, it's likely the air flow meter is wearing a bit and causing it to run slightly rich. The Field service manual will tell you how to check all your sensor readings at the connector to the brain and take Resistance readings to see if they are operating properly. You can also use the ohm meter to see if the air flow meter is giving consistant readings as the flap that measures the air opens.
  4. Is this the only version of the spreadsheet? Seems like I saw it not all that long ago and the data seemed correct. This one is all out of order for the different info. My info is totally wrong in some columns.

Your car looks great. Love the black and the headlight covers. And the wheels interior color looks awesome with the black car, man. Really makes the case for black as a color choice! And those 55's do SEEM to fill the wheel well better.
  7. Don't forget some of the series 1's were actually built in Jan of 1971, and so are truly a 71 model. Mine is HLS 20390, built 1/71. The Nissan data indicated the series 2 starts with serial # 21000:)

Love the Blue on Blue one! Sweet! Is this the fellow who has several other special Z's, including a green one that once belonged to Paul Newman? I think it may be the one you have pictured here...

  10. 1982 Ford Escort my dad bought me. Because of that I was leary to get rid of it when the problems started. The litany of problems was incredible. I doubt if I can remember them all. The car was 2 years old when I got it. Had a major leak in the power steering, timing belt broke before scheduled replacement, causing valves to get bent, needing head rebuilt. Tranny disintegrated, something in front end broke causing front wheels to lose camber, water pump seized, which was driven by cam, and hence timing belt broke again, so needed another head rebuilt. This was 8K miles after the first head!! Heater core failed. After I traded it in with four years of ownership,I saw the salesman a couple weeks later who said the day he sold it, the new owner had it towed back 20 minutes later when a freeze plug went out and it lost all coolant! Can you say POS??? Traded for an 84 Chevy Cavalier, which was much better, but had an intermittent running problem no one could track down. Traded that for a cherry 1979 280ZX in 1990. Best car Ive ever owned, and I still have that one nearly 20 years later.
  11. The 25 SPORTS cars maybe. otherwise, where's the Ford Model T or VW Beetle?

Love to see some pics of your very early 69 Z's folks!:classic:
  13. Yep, that's the pic I was thinking of!
  14. I think Allen is right in that the car I'm remembering was Kevin's other Z. And no Carl, the pic you posted is not the one Im thinking of. It was a black and white from the 1970's of an airborne Z in a rally race., quite an amazing shot in Classic and Sportscar I'll have to find and post.
  15. I know when this happened with my 240-Z, I needed a new bearings in the tranny. It started with one gear but very quickly happened in all the other gears.
  16. I know Kevin's car has appeared from time to time in "Classic and Sportscar". Alan, if memory serves me correctly, wasn't there a picture of this same car in a previous incarnation being totally airborne in a rally from the 1970's,before Kevin owned it? I know I have that issue somewhere, maybe I can dig up the pic.
  17. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/up-for-auction-is-this-beautiful-1972-datsun-240Z_W0QQitemZ280361173648QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item4146d40290&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12|39%3A1|72%3A317|240%3A1308 It's here in Spokane, looks pretty good in the video. Color is similar to mine, and i'd like to have an excuse to look at it. Let me know, i'll try to see if i have time in the next couple days. Steve
  18. I did think the electric concept was interesting, it was his driving treatment of the Z I didn't like. I'm not sure if this Z was put together by the same guy as the link you sent Tomahawk.
  19. Lets go electric! Don't know how long this Kiddie car Z will last though.
  20. I have also had issues with my 240Z temp guage reading at about 2/3 (toward the hot end) when the outside temperatures begin to warm up. I usually drive her on a Saturday morning. In the summer that's usually around 70 degrees outside. At that outside temp, the temp gauge reads just over the middle mark, but when the outside temp gets to about 80, it starts to read at 2/3. Now that I have taken the 280 ZX out of winter storage and started to drive to work occasionally, it also has started to read at 2/3 on a hot day. I have had this car for 20 years, and this is the first time this has occurred. I put Nissan thermostats on both cars just last year. The 240 has the summer (170) stat, the ZX the normal one. I guess I am wondering if the temp sensors go bad over time, or if crap in the radiators have built up over time, and I should look into replacing them? It seems like a good number of us are seeing these higher readings on our temp guages as of late, but I wonder about the effect of the warmer daytime temps as well.

Wow, this was such a great thread. I just stumbled on it today,(after wondering where the hell it had gone). Do you have any new updates for us?

  23. Hey Arne, You can add me to the map in Nine Mile falls, Wa (north of Spokane)
  24. Ospho?? Which is?? Hmm well both heater doors are indeed opening. I may look into the leaves angle, although this car is only outside when driven on Saturdays, and for short periods. Thanks for the great link on the heater info. It's not from the regular service manual?
  25. E, The heat isn't coming from the vents, only to the right side of vehicle heater "gates" or right defroster . I may switch back to a hotter Thermostat, but still wonder why only the right outputs on the heater/defrost are delivering warm air.
