Hey guys Looking to do some tidy up mods and i want to paint my carbs from blue to black. If im painitng them is there any particular paint i should use or things to look our for? like certain things that should be masked that i may over look. Also, i was thinking about annodizing them, does anyone have any idea on cost or know anyone who does it in the bris area? Thanks
  5. Yeah i was thinking about that, would be damn fast, but i can get the RB cheap not that its gonna be alot faster than what i have (well maybe a little :nervous: ), but my car might look like being a daily driver soon, so i could use the economy. In short its a RB or a 86 Tureno...help me save my Z. Buy my engine

Cool, If you guys find a source of bolt on Flares, im there!
  13. Honestly, This is utterly pointless, you CANNOT stop someone from getting an image if they want it. And there is one easy way around it. If you are so uptight that you are worried someone will steal your pic. Dont put it up. Simple. Sure it will stop 5% of people disabling right click, but an ever growing number of computer literate people and those with Windows XP (automatically gives you an option to save the pic on mouse hover) can get around it. Its not hard. If you want to share your pics, and share being the word, thats why they are up there people! Put them up. If you dont want people taking them, dont put them up. But remember, you cant put something on display without the risk of it being copied or taken, ask any museum or art gallery. Thats all i have to say.

I put a lumpier cam in over the weekend and noticed that at high RPM it seems to starve for fuel a little, my local Motorsport shop told me i need to replace my main jets and maybe air correction jets to get the most out of it. At a high $$ might i add. So i stumbled on this forum, should save myself some cash hopfully. Im running Triple 45mm webers (im not that technical so please excuse me if i dont have all the tech details, assume they are standard i guess). 32mm Venturis so i guess i have..130 Main Jets and 180 air correctors (roughly) 272 cam with 318 (cam only) duration L28 with flattops (2.9) Ported and Polished P90 2.5 Exhaust If anyone could give me a rough idea that would be great otherwise, ive printed out this thread and shall sit down with my mechanic friend and we shall work out the details. Also, is there really any advantage to getting larger venturies, as these are quite expensive. It also really doesnt like to drive around ranging from 2-3rpm, it just seems to stutter and such. I am aware i have no vacuum advance, but i am assuming i just need to tune the carbs to the Cam. Or are they supposed to run like this with a more agressive cam? Now since its starving alittle for fuel up top (well surging is more the word) does this mean i require larger air correctors or main jets? understand that new Air corectors give the top power, but thanks for pointing out that i need smaller ones. So if changing the air correctors will give me more smoothness and power delivery up top, and mains will give more throughout, is there any point in changing both, or will i need one or the other? So if anyone has a similar set, a rough guide for specs would be great Thanks
  15. We put on Number 3, we did it with the previous cam and lost alittle bottom end (minimal) and gained alittle top end. No i didnt expect it to have much down low, and we just talked to a tuning place in bris and they said i will definetly need new jets and a retune to get the best out of it. DAMN!!!

Does anyone know if you can remove a tacho from a 260 (i have '74) from the back of the dash? The dashcap is hindering me from removing it from the front.

Ok, i put a new cam in it. To see the effects, go to my last post.... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=97113#post97113
  18. Ok Then, The cam is in....We thought it was gonna be a mild one, but once we investigated the one i was replacing, we found that it already had a mild cam in it. So we put the new one in. Its quite lumpy now. after letting it warm up and deliberating if we needed to turn the idle up we took it for a test run. I put my foot down which would normally have an effect of pushing me back in my seat. But we got nothing. We got to a big straight road, and as i kept my foot buried, it gradually reved. And reved. And reved. Im no officinado on L28's, but i havent seen many that rev like this. So while i was disapointed with the loss in torque, the top end is something wild. So i gave my mechanic a drive, and from the moment he drove, things werent right. It wasnt reving, it stalled, and it wouldnt start again. So i had to run an errand, worried that my car had done its last run. I got the call and the news was something of a bitter sweet mix. It was alive again, but i needed a new air filter. Thats right. My ram filter was melted and sucked into carby number 1. Hows that for a vacum? But after a thoughrough clean, its all good again. Its got alot more power, it wont drive niceley at constant revs, and it has alot less torque. It seems to be startving for fuel at high revs, since its probably never revved this hard, which is somthing ill have to look into. Silly me to think it was gonna be one of the last mods id do Well see how she goes
  19. Ok i put my cam in and was recommeneded the following grind Intake open 26 Degress Bfore Top Dead Centre closes 66 Degress Bfore Top Dead Centre Exhaust Opens 66 Degrees Bfore Top Dead Centre Closes 26 Degrees Bfore Top Dead Centre 318 Tho (lift?) so i guess that makes it 272/272 with 318 lift...does that sound about rigth? What do you guys think?
  20. Hey Guys Just a quick question, i am getting my cam from a N42 reground for my :P90 and i was wondering if anyone had any expierence with a reground cam in a similar set up, ie, im after the duration, timing details. What i want and what i have *the cam must be daily drivable (not overly agressive) *has to idle and start easily *Triple 45mm Webbers *Ported and Polished P90 *L28 with Flatops Any suggestions or details from people with a similar setup would be welcome
