Hey guys A quick question, i thought i might need to tune my carbs as it can choke alittle in gears unless you run her smooth, it turns out my vacum advance isnt hooked up. I cant see anywhere that this can be hooked up on my maifold. Has anyone else out there had a similar problem? Thanks guys

AH that little piece, no thats not what im after. Dang. Huzzah i have my first pic up (engine) will get more soon (girlfriends stupid brother over wrote the others). So how much is this 2+2 gonna set you back?

Sounds great, i went to Midwest Spares and they had a spare called a Handle Escutcheon (chrome), i have no idea what that is. Once i get this thing my interior will be perfect (aside from the always pending red recaro's ). Are you gonna sell the spares from the 2+2 or are you gonna use it for your own car?

The Pics are coming dont worry, have been busying myself doing little bits here and there. Getting some new sticky front tyres soon. Nice Vid, i think it was only your reaction time that let you down. Its ok, my first run will be crap. Virgin to Drags. Who do you go through for your spares? There are some little things i want for the interior that are hard to find (ie the little chrome caps on the arms rests. Thanks heaps for the tach stuff too, ill keep it in mind

    Its a 2 seater

Anyone know where you can get those little chrome caps that sit over the top of the handle/arm rest for a 260?
  12. Deus Ex posted a post in a topic in Australia & NZ
Um the reason it cant be hooked up is because it sends a different magnatude of power to the tacho and it pretty much just sits at 9K (Or whatever the max is). What was the work around you mentioned?

What have you got strapped in yours 260DET? Ive been finding that fuel is pretty good since i have been keeping her under 3k as much as possible. But its still great to give it that little bit extra. Havnt really had a chance to take her out for a strap yet, and cause of the MSD i dont know how much i am reving it (the taco needing calibration because of the new ignition). But as soon as my mate gets his Z on the road (Kalium this means you!) let the fun begin. Eventually i will get it dynoed when i tune the carbs abit. Also, anyone had experience with MSD's and recalibrating the taco?

Yeah exactly, its either slow or fast, and a prick in the city. Ill give the gearbox oil a go and see if it makes a difference. Thanks J. And now and then its fun to rev it out a bit, but im pretty cautious of the fuel. I might consider straping a bowser to the roof

Yeah thats pretty much it, makes it harder by the fact that the 1st to 2nd shift is hard, i need some practise but yeah 2nd and 3rd is where it counts. Yeah i guess the slip would be easier, has no problems spinning them in the 1st to 2nd shift. Its a bastard cause of the MSD ignition the tacho hasnt been calibrated, so i really dont know how hard i am reving it at the moment. Thats makes it hard to run a gear.

Hey Guys. Just a quick question about my new Z, i havnt really had a chance to test the power as yet and i thought that you guys might be able to use your experience and give me an idea about power output. It is a L28 with 200B flat top pistons and bored out to 2.9. It has a P40 head (US turbo unit i believe) and triple 35mm Webbers. I has a ground cam and flywheel (cam not that lumpy) mated to a FJ 20 5sp with a 2.5 system. Its a very torquey motor, 1st revs hard but is basically for moving forward and the shift to 2nd is a tricky one, from there is smooth shifting. And driving it nicely to work means driving it slowly, until you get into 2nd and 3rd anyway. Just thought you guys might have a rough figure to go by, any imput would be appreciated, i dont wanna get fried by a V6 Commodore because i cant shift . (new to fast manuals) Thanks

Well i finally happened, After looking round for nearly 2 months i finally found a 260z. Its a awsome ride and looks a treat. I managed to talk to guy down in price as well which is always a treat. Now the Goodies -L28 bored to 2.9L -P90 Head -Flat-top Pisons -Triple 45mm Webbers -Extractors and 2.5 inch exhaust -MSD -Detailed Engine Bay -Koni and King suspension -5sp FJ20 -Original Red -Front and Rear Spoilers -Simmons Mags There are a couple of little things that need doing, but no biggie. Ill try and get some pics up soon. Happy Crusin

I also forgot to add, has anyone had any experience with those electronic rust preventors? Or is spraying the way to go? Thanks

Hey guys, I think i have found my Z. A 75 260 with.. *L28 *P90 head *Triple Webbers *Simmons Mags *FJ20 'Box *Flat top pistons *Bored out to 2.9Ltrs *MSD *Mallorty Fuel Pump *SAAS seats *Koni/Kings suspension. Looks great and goes like $^!#. The only thing is it has some rust in the Sill (boot lid area) you know, the common area. Its only surface at this stage, but i was wondering if anyone has had this fixed and what it cost them, i have haggled the guy down, but still wouldnt mind knowing what this operation costs.....any ideas?

Thats the thing, its just a rebuilt car, standard L26, twin Hitachis (i believe). So its more of a restored car, than somthing like Matts, which i am way more keen on. Just not sure what he is doing atm. Its a nice car, but not 13k worth.

, when i say i have my eye on it, it means i have emailed the guy and hes getting back to me on Monday, its nice, abit $$ but as you said, its been there awhile, and you gotta haggle!. Yeah the colours nice, i really like the Interior though.
