Can someone breifly go through some steps please. Its my 73 240Z. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Guy, Hows the Z project going?? Well when its finished I wanna see it please!!! :D I am insured with Footman James, they are very cheap, its on a limited mileage (3000miles/year), garaged policy. I have mods declared too and they are very reasonable. Give them a call: 0121 561 6202

i think the majority of answers to this question would be: 1. from a search engine or 2. word of mouth. maybe you can put "search engine" in the options? not sure if you can re-edit the poll variables though. Oh... the answer to your Q. is via a search engine, when I was considering buying a 240z and when i bought it I spent most nights trawling through search engines and reading up about everything 240Z related. It got to the point that I really thought I'd seen it all. Yeah spent way too much time doing researZch.. <EDIT> After typing all that I then noticed "INTERNET" as an option, DOH!!!!! Gonna click on it now

IMO bus lanes are a complete waste of time and have contributed to more congestion and a bottle neck of traffic then ever before in London. What about the M4 bus lanes as you reach London, no traffic and then bam bus lane! Stuck in traffic for hrs just to see a couple of taxis shoot past you every 5 mins... Wheres the sense in that?? We have the worst transport system ever, not only is it one of the most expensive in Europe but its useless too. It was discovered recently that temperatures on the London Underground exceeded what was safely legislated under an EU commision for the transport of animals!! The moral of the story is that motorists hear get shafted any way possible; high fuel costs, crap roads, speed cameras, high road taxes, high parking fees etc... . Notice how the real issues arent being tackled.... like providing a cheap, reliable, clean public transport system... The speed cameras here are a licence to print money and whats worse is that they dont put them in high risk places like near schools etc.... They install them on open roads, sometimes in non built up areas or on corners on a motorway where you'll have no chance of seeing them. I'll get off my soap box now... THANKS..

Hi and welcome. *The L in HS30 means its a left hand drive model. *Yes the numbers after that refer to the 14946th car of the prod line. *Autos are less desirable but as your car is a low no. I dont think it matters too much. *The wheels you refer to sound as if they could have been a dealer option * The steering wheel sounds original, not sure what EMPI is. * The engine no. is located on the right hand side of the cylinder block * Some had A/C, some didnt, it was an optional extra Its value is determined by how much rust it has. Sure someone can give you a ball park figure after seeing the pics. You can get an idea if you go to ebay.com and look for a similar year in a similar condiiton. Good luck with your great find.

I hope you sort out the customs documents. Customs can be a real pain when they want to.

I know of a set of Group 5 bodykits available in England. If you are interested I can give you the email of the guy thats selling them. The kits consist of 2 front wings complete, 2 rear wheel arches, front bonnet extension and front spoiler. All kits were made from the original Janspeed originals.
  15. 10/10, Yes its British humour!!!!
  16. I was given a brand new set of 6 trumpet musical air horns and I just have to fit them now! I know its a bit of a boy racer thing but i suppose its a period accessory??:stupid: In a bit of a dilemma as to where to mount the switch for them as i dont want to hack into the dask which is crack free. Any ideas? Also where is the best place to mount the air compressor without drilling into the inner fender??
  17. and so you should be!
  18. BTW- the rear wing were stock on British Z's and the classic slot mag alloys always look great on a Z. Can you tell me where you got your black centre caps, they really look good. I have the chrome ones and yours look much better!:tapemouth
  19. Wow!! Great pics! Good to see so many drivers of modern cars giving the Z a thumps up too!! The contrast with the black dash and the white seats and trim really goes well and makes the interior really look bright and is a far cry to the dark and gloomy interior of my car.
  20. Congratulations. What a sweet red z. The interior looks great too, i havent seen a z with a white interior, do you have any interior pics to post?
  21. Its not unusual for a British 240Z in excellent condition to be offered for that amount and as Doehring says you shouldnt need any parts for a car in excellent condition.

Oooh nasty, sorry to hear this. I'd take the car for an alignement check just for peace of mind. I did this on a VW rabbit in my early driving days. I was travelling a lot faster and lost control on a corner. The car never quite recovered and always had a squat on the side I had hit it :stupid:. Going at a lower speed as you did shouldnt cause you that much problems but its worth checking incase you have bent anything.

My drivers seat base is torn but the seat back is perfect and the passengers seat is like new. It is possible to just get the trim from another Z seat and swap them over. Dave Sommers kindly gave me this link which should help you out too, Project- Seat Covers What I want to know is why dont more people try and find second hand seats with good covers rather then buy new Z covers?? The passenger's seat is always going to be better then the drivers so there should be loads in the junk yard to choose from. No???
