I'd say go to a paint shop, thats what I did. They even put it into a spray can for me. I spray into a jam jar and then use a thin brush to apply it. This works well with most paint but not metallic, metallic is quite hard to touch up as the metallic bits will stick to the brush and not go onto the paint unless you spray directly from the can but then thats not really a touch up but a really bad respray!

Here's a better pic of what Alfadog is illustrating. What goes in that indented hole with the arrow pointing to it in the top dash?

All i can add is what a beauty. If you do end up buying her congratulations and please add loads of pics in the members gallery, also let us know what colour that car is. Good Luck.
  7. Owen, this is a good oppportunity for you to try and source this magazine. I bought it from a Japanese book shop in London, England. It has loads of tuning mods and company addresses in Japan. If you are interested and want to try and find it it is called: "Fairlady Z", the series is by "Hyper Rev", publisher is "News Publishing Co." and the ISBN No is : 4-938495-57-0 If you hadnt guessed already, its all in Japanese! More 300ZX TT stuff then 240Z stuff but it does fetaure some pretty powerful 240Z's in it or fairlady Z's as there known in Japan.
  8. I am happy to say NONE! It has never been welded and nor does it need any. This is quite rare for a car coming from England.:classic: The car was heavily Zeibarted when new and still it ouzes out the seams in some places. It has done an excellent job in protecting it.

Very Sweet looking Z. Good video, wanted to see more. That was a close encounter with the yellow Z!
  10. If your voltage regulator has been overcharging you should notice loads of white powdery stuff on your battery, its terminals as well and near the inner fender and even maybe under the inspection cover lid. All this acid spews out of the battery when it gets over charged. It's a good idea to take the battery out and neautralise that white stuff as it is acidic and will eat at the body work. If I remember correctly bicarbonate of soda and loads of hosing down will do the job.
  11. Not sure why this happened but it sounds like your fusible links have blown. It is usually caused by high draw or near capacity draw. If you have a dead or nearly dead battery you can blow them as the alternator will try charging and overload it. This is what I've been told, someone correct me if Im wrong and if this has nothing to do with Rocks problem. Good luck and hope someone with more zexperience can help you out.
  12. Alan, thats exactly what I was thinking too. To me they dont look anything like a swastika. Oddly enough there is a universal acceptance that these are the swastika alloys. :stupid:

I've just ordered the FSM 240Z Manual on CD from Courtesy Nissan. I hope it was worth the $$'s as it retails for $69.95

Hi Rick, Aesthetically Style 2 gets my vote but as Keith says style 1 would be a better choice for your application. The brake pads will get VERY hot and the more open area available the cooler they'll be and the better they'll work.
  16. Wow, she looks so damn sexy after her bath!! Great find! Good luck on crancking her up, I would like to see more pics of her rebirth. Keep em coming..
  17. Great advice, thanks guys.... I wish I had the know how to tacke such a job, as soon as I have some spare cash I'd like to take it to an electrical specialist to return it to its original condition. Saying that I may just hold out for my restoration in a couple of years time, with a Z specialist. As I said the car gets hardly driven never mind driven at night . 24OZ's are too scarce in the UK to be driven too frequently, mine only comes out in the Summer months and only at the weekends when the sun is shining, which is pretty rare in itself. Have you guys heard of the British Summer?? Rain, Rain, Rain and maybe a heat wave for 1 week! :tapemouth Now you know why we have so few Z's left!

Don't worry be happy . The longer you have to wait, the more you will learn and the better the car you'll find. Good luck!!

Nice find! Wish it was this easy and cheap to come across parts cars in England. Do you want to sell the front side repeater? I just need the lens and the chrome fastener. I smashed mine in a freak garage accident late at night!:stupid: Managed to super glue all the bits together, you can hardly tell, but it just aint right!!:disappoin PM me if you want. Thanks.

Does anyone have a spare black plastic cover which fits over the bolt that bolts the seat belt to the rear of the car, by the hatch? THANKS.

My drivers side seat has a tear on the seat. Whats the best way of replacing this? Can I just find another seat and remove the vinyl from it and install it onto mine, is it an easy thing to do? OR would it be better to find another drivers side seat and replace just the base of the seat. Thanks.
  23. Enrique, you are correct and I thank you for your 2 cents.
  24. Yes Enrique they're wired intentionally together. Not by me, so I don't know what the advantage of doing this was. Its a real hassle as it means that in the fuse box one of the left or right fuses is redundant (cant remember which one) this means I have to use a higher blowing fuse to cope with the extra current. I havent had any problems so far, just that the right is dimmer then the left, however i have seen it work so its a new problem and not because their wired together. Thanks for the input any ideas as to why someone would bother wiring them up like this?? I guess this may have been done when the L28 and all the FI stuff was installed?? But then again why interfere with the lights for an engine swap? I dunno.....:stupid:
