V8 Sounding Z
Thanks guys for the feedback. Grantman - would be great to hear this when you have a chance . Someone also mentioned MSA's Twice Pipes as being quite intimidating. Anyone else think so?

V8 Sounding Z
Is it possible to get the Z to sound like a V8? This will be my next project, as to when...... we'll see... i may have grown one of these by the time i get round to it :beard: I've got a stock L28 in my 240Z and would like it to sound like a monster V8? Well ok a mini V8 then I guess its all in the exhaust you use and the header, anyone got any ideas on a good header/exhaust setup which would get me the V8 sound, or as close as possible. It cant be excessively loud as it may not be legal BTW - My L28 is stock so would headers actually reduce power on my car? Just something I read somewhere. Thanks.

What kind of a Z Emblem is this?

4 Wheel Alignment Settings
Does anyone know the correct settings? I am taking the car in to check the alignment, they dont have the data sheets for the 240Z at the garage so can anyone help me out with the info id need such as the Toe-in setting and any other data that they'd need. Thanks.

Robert Akin Death...
Sorry dont know of him. The only name in racing that I know synonymous with Porsche is Derick Bell. Have you heard of him guys? He raced in the C2 class for Porsche and he often features in the Le Mans 24hr race line up in the 80's.

lights
I dont want to sound patronising, for I never realised there was one for ages.... But have you turned the dimmer switch all the way up? Its located under the dash just below the wheel. I hope your problem is this simple

Hey, 240Z...
Steve, If i remember rightly they replied in Japanese and I printed the message off with intentions to give to a friend who speaks japanese to read for me, never got round to it. I'll have a shuffle at home and see if I can locate the message I printed and get it translated. I too whant to go the FI route and have been doing a bit of research, heres some excerpts from the reply my UK Z club organiser gave me, taken from the forum of www.zclub.net (you have to register to read the posts. worht doing though) What I need: 1. Decent 6-branch exhaust manifold and larger bore system 2. Free breathing air induction system 3. Big throat throttle body 4. Improved resonse pressure regulator (FSE or similar) 5. Mild camshaft and head work - port, polish and increase compression ratio. Points to consider: However, the danger with the 280ZX running the standard injection ECU and injectors is that it will run out of fuelling capacity at higher rpm. Janspeed overcame this on the turbo by fitting extra injectors tricked in by pressure switches on the manifold. There are numerous (but expensive) options available now that replace the original control unit (and many of the unreliable 280ZX sensors like the air flow meter) with a new programmable ECU whch in most cases control the ignition curve as well. Just getting rid of the air flow meter would provide a greatly improved and unrestricted passage of air into the engine. A programmable ECU would allow the use of bigger injectors, more compression and a wilder cam. If you want really mad, junk the original manifold in favour of individual throttle bodies on a Weber style manifold Definately food for thought

General Newbie Questions About the 280ZXT
Hi Tang, Good choice of vehicle, even though most of us on here would argue you should go for an earlier Z car like a 240,260 or 280Z!! Hope some people can help you but guess the best bet is to go ask this on Zcar.com as you will find more 280ZX enthusiasts. Some have even done the NA to Turbo conversion you asked about Good luck!! And if you change your mind on an earlier Z car this is definately the place for info !!! Hope you get one as they can be alot of fun too!

Steering Wheel Question
Gary, After speaking to a few people about this I'm coming to the conclusion that its just me! I think maybe cos the stork its so thin and the wheel is so large I have difficulty finding it but I dunno?? Peter - I am sorry to be yabbling on about this on your post:finger: I wish you luck with the wheel, but as the guys have said bear in mind the thinness and the diameter of the wheel, it does get a bit of getting use to and if yours is like mine, NOT a daily driver and only comes out to play thrice a month then it will take longer! Give someone elses a go first! Good luck:)

Steering Wheel Question
I am sorry to digress a little but does anyone find that the original wheel is a little too large in diameter for the indicator stork?? I always find trouble finding it as its way too short and thus too far behind the wheel for my clumsy fat fingers. Maybe someone else has fabricated some sort of stalk extender? I was thinking of strapping a pencil to it, which should give me the extra few inches I need. I'd be very interested to hear if its just me. Thanks

Introduce yourself to the class?
Hi everyone, My name is George, i'm 27, single and i'm a Zedaholic!! I got into 240's quite recently. I live in the UK, London to be precise and i never saw one before, there's only about 150 left over here. This is mainly due to not many being shipped over (the shipping rates from Japan in the 1970's didnt make the 240z such an affordable buy over here) as well as the majority being victim of our weather!! Well my borther wanted a 300ZX TT for ages and when he purchased his i started doing my research on Z cars and once I saw a picture of a 240Z in a book I was smitten. I joined the Z Club of GB to find out more info on these cars and then went out of my way to purchase Amazon.co.uk's entire stock of books on early Z cars! I then scoured the classifieds and found my green beast you see in the icon to your left. She's a 73 and I love driving her. The only problem I have found is that you cant drive her all the time, she never come out to play in the wet and usually lives in hibernation in a nice warm garage. So looking forward to a hot summer so I can drive her loads. Mike well done on building such a great site and the community spirit must be testament to your good nature. I hope to learn loads form you guys as this obsession is very new to me, its the first sports car I have owned and need all the help I can get. Thanks all for reading this far

where can i buy in the UK?
Hi Moz, I'm in the UK too. The best place to look is in the for sale section on the Z Club GB website here's the link for you ZCLUB GB Before I purchased my 240Z I joined the ZClub GB and went to a few meets, you get to meet loads of people who really know their Z's. Also give Duncan Pearcey a call at the Z farm on 01845 587100 he is based in North Yorkshire he is really helpful and gave me loads of free advice. Tell him George recommended you. You can also speak to Mike Feeney of MJP Eastern Auto, on 01277 374201 he will also point you in the right direction. Good luck. George.
