He he... Yes very true. The Z32 TT's in Japan were still called Fairlady's, carrying on the tradition.

Been doing a bit of Z reading up lately (I am a Z anorak, I know ) on different performance upgrades that specialists have offered for our Z's. Stumbled on 1 company called Cartech in the US, apparently they offer/offered (not sure if they still do it) an L28 conversion which featured twin turbochargers feeding a plenum chamber that formed the airbox for three choke Mikuni Carbs. Anyone else heard of them?? Anyone else got this setup?? Anyone got any links with more info?? Power is reputed to be in the 350bhp region. Why haven't we all got this? Janspeed offered a conversion featuring a Roto-Master Turbo. Standard FI was retained with two extra fuel injectors added to the inlet manifold to prevent lean running when on boost. Output about 175bhp. Interesting...... George.

Mike, Take a look at this company, they've been making wheel's since the 1960's, they have got quite a following over here in the UK. I've seen many a 240, 260Z with these wheels. It'll give you an idea at least as to what syle you may like. http://www.minilite.co.uk Congrats. on the new purchase. George.

Has anyone ever tried doing a search on "fairlady Z .jp" you get some mad sites up from Japan. I used Altavista's babblefish to translate the pages. Look at this: I think its for the L series.

Yeah!! Just reiterating on what Mike's said she is amazing!! The rear of the 2+2's make the car look a bit like a Jaguar XJS at the rear, well from the angle of your pic Big Mac it does a bit.

Varnish!!! No, forget I mentioned the lawn mower. You're stuck with it unless there's a recycling depot near you who'd take it. Ask the local fire department for advice, maybe they'll even take it off your hands, there always practicing how to put fires out in their training exercises.

Mike, Unless the fuel has become contaminated with water it should be okey to burn off in the lawn mower. Burning it in the lawn mower is the most environmentally friendly way of getting shot of it.

I think its just the pre 73 cars that had the aerial switch on the radio, I could be wrong though. I've been told (Can't be 100% certain to authenticity) that I have the original 240Z original datsun radio that came in the car and it has no switch so i guess the switch i have on the console is original. But after nearly 30 years who knows. I have to check with other owners. RegardZ, G

I do like it and yes it does look very 240Z like. Well there has been un uptake of retro vehicles of late. For instance the new BMW mini, the new VW Beetle, the Chrysler's Cunningham and PT Cruiser but to me the 350Z looks more futuristic then retro. At first I wasn't quite sure. I would have much prefered a revival of the 240Z shape, but then again Nissan done that with the 280ZX. Its good I suppose that the company is being creative and innovative with its designs and looking to the future. The 350Z has grown on me, I actually really like it now and look forward to seeing them on the roads. Just my 0.2 cents

Hi Dale and John, So glad I read this. Dale, the exact same thing has happened to me in my 240Z. Mines the solid state regualtor too. I've done a bit of research and I have concluded that the solid state variety are not very easy to service. Its the mechanical type that you can work on a bit easier. With the mechanical type you can check and adjust the point gaps on them. I live in England and there not cheap to buy. Who are Pep boys? Do they have a web address? THANKS Also whilst here someone has given me a Toyota mechanical regulator, the pins are the same and so too is the voltage. Is it risky giving it a go? I'll save myself loads of $$$.

As far as I know. No were else unless its a North American car. Then it would be located on the top of the instrument panel cowl and is visible through the windshield. Also it should be on the the original log book. If you have the vehicle licence plate number the Local Driving Licence Vehicle Authorities could trace it for you. Good Luck.
  25. 24OZ replied to Mike's post in a topic in Open Discussions
Kmack, Thanks for sharing that with us. I'd love to build one as I'd like to renew the underseal, alas my garage is just big enough for the Z.
