Urethane or Rubber bushings
Thanks all for your valuable input. I want to go stock but I think I will go the Urethane route, after what a few of you have said as well as because a kit exists. And after what 2ManyZ's says I will be using plenty of lube Another question for you all: I intend on taking the following safety precautions when removing the tension rods... Jack the car up and place 2 axle stands on the suspension member, then remove the wheels. By removing the tension rods shouldn't make the car move off the Axle stands should it? Thanks ..

Urethane or Rubber bushings
Thanks Marty for your views. I notice that there are various sources for bushing kits, however these seem to all be the Urethane type. I have yet to see a kit that offers OEM bushings... has anyone else? If a kit does not exist I can see OEM being dearer as all the bushes will have to be purchased separetly.

Urethane or Rubber bushings
(more suspension dilemmas for me) Now to the question of bushings: Which should I go for? If I do not intend to street race the car that much, am I better off replacing my bushings with the rubber (stock) type rather then the harder urethane type. I have heard that urethane bushings will stiffen up the ride, which is not what I really want as my town's roads are riddled with holes and hence provide for a bumpy ride as it is. The second part of my question is, I have heard that the urethane bushings need oiling now and again, whereas the stock rubber ones are maintenance free. Is this correct? One last thing that concerns me, as the urethane is a different material then the original rubber bushings then does this mean that original torque settings, as listed in the FSM, will no longer apply when tightening bolts associated with the newly installed urethane bushings. Please help me decide. Thanks.

Suspension Gurus HELP!!
Hi all and thanks for the replys, The confusion arises, i think, due to the many various names for the same parts.... Here are a couple of examples of front suspension terminology and what different sources call them. (I know they refer to the same item as the sources I have used include pictures of the parts in question) FSM: Transverse Link Haynes Manual (UK): Track Control Arm Victoria British: Control Arm - Lower MSA: Control Arm FSM: Compression Rod Haynes Manual (UK): Radius Rod Victoria British: Tension Rod MSA: Tension Rod I have also heard this being called a T/C Rod. FSM: Stabiliser Haynes Manual (UK): Cross Member Victoria British: Front Cross Member MSA: Cross Member FSM: Suspension Member Haynes Manual (UK): Stabiliser bar Victoria British: Front Sway bar MSA: Sway bar The FSM's interpretation of the last two components I have listed, what the FSM refers to as the Stabiliser and the Suspension Member, is so confusing I am wondering if this is a typo in the FSM.

What a way to deflate your ego...
Unfortunately these things do happen on a race track and we don't know the full story. Did he hit oil, was it mecahnical failure? If it wasn't a Lambo would we be more sympathetic??

What are the widest tyres for these rims??
Hi all, I have a set of 70's slotmags and stamped on them are these numbers 6.50 x 14 x 0.355 OUT. I am assuming 6.50 is the width of the rim in inches, 14 is the diameter of the rim in inches and I do not know what 0.355 out means?? Anyone know? If a set of 225/60/14 tyres can fit on a rim which is 6 inches wide then whats the maximum tyre width I can go for?? Also bearing in mind that I have the normal 240Z fenders with no extensions. Thanks..

what is this???
I have the same sticker, though I havent checked to see if the numbers are identical. I have been told that the E code number is a sort of seal of approval and the number 2 next to it means that its approved for the UK??? Others have said that the E specifically stands for Europe making the E code system just for European models.. again???? I havent been able to establish what is really true about this but just take it thats its some sort of approval code. By the way are you from England?

History on this Z?
This is how you attach a picture.. 1.go to the picture you want and right click on it.. you will then see a few options. 2.go to the option which is called "properties", you will now get more options, copy the link called "address" (highlit it and then press Cntrl C). 3.Then in the page you post into, at the top in the section called vB code you will see a button called "IMG". 4.Click on this button and in the box that appears it asks you to put in the url, just Cntr V to paste it in and your done.
