70-24zw/auto trans
Craig, if you have the 1st 240Z with automatic trans I wouldn't drive it daily. Just my opinion but you have a special car, I'd use it as a second car as opposed to a daily driver.

Position of Euro front Indicators
Unlike the US cars the UK 240Z and many European models had the front indicators on the bumpers. Does anyone know why some cars had them ontop of the front bumper whilst others had them below? There doesn't seem to be a logical pattern as to which year of cars had them. Just curious to hear if anyone knows why there is a variation? Thanks in advance.

What year is mine & what badges?
Not sure what you mean by being told there should be 3 holes. Where? If you have vent holes where the C pillar is then you need the badges which do not say 240Z they are for 1970 cars. The seires I cars had the vent on the rear deck lid which you have which suggest a 1970 with cross over to 71 car.

what colors did they make for the 240's dash?
I may be completely mistaken but I thought that I once read that a 5 speed was available for the 240Z in the US as a dealer option. Anyone heard of this or I may have my wires crossed.

An early 1970s 240Z discovered
Amazed how cheap these cars go for in the states. Our prices are around $10,000 mark for a good example. There pretty rare in the UK.

My Battery has spewed out acid
Daniel, Thanks for the info. I hear what your saying about the regulator, my 240Z came with the L28 when I purchased it. I think the aternator has a built in regulator, thats if its the L28's alternator. The L24 hasn't, is that right? But it has an external one instead. All stuff I've read on other sites. So you saying that the regulator may not be functioning properly, i.e it doesn't turn off within a stipulated amount of time. Any easy ways of testing this? Thanks again for making things much more clearer.

My Battery has spewed out acid
Its a new battery as well! I was told that it could have occured due to too much power going into it. I have yet to check it out on a voltmeter but will do. The alternator may be charging to much so I'll check it doesn't go over 15V (is that right?) It was really quite a shock to find white powdery stuff on the engine bay, I really want to sort thisout asap. Has anyone got any other suggestions. Thanks

Antenna switch location?
on the fuse cover on the far right to you US guys. There are 3 indentations for accessories, the first is the rear demister, the middle has not been used and is blanked off and the 3rd is a stalk switch for the aerial. Thats on a 73 UK Spec. [Edited] Finally got round to getting a pic of it

HS30 date of manufacture
Lee, My date of registration is October 73 and it is said that the date of manufacture is normally 4 months out. So if your registration date is March 73 you may be elligible for Historic Car Classification. Check this article out its a list of HS30 numbers with production dates. It's not that comprehensive but will give you a better idea as you can see if your numbers fall before or after the dates they supply. http://zhome.com/IZCC/ZRegisters/classicHS.htm Good luck. Looking for a 70-74 240z.. anything I should know?
Keith, Auxhilary has summed everything up. The most important thing to look out for is the RUST. The rest is easy (relatively) to fix. Engines can go over 200,000 miles without a rebuild. The best thing to do is buy the best example you can afford. Theres no point getting a cheap one which could cost you $$$ in the long run. (Unless you fancy restoring it yourself and have the know how). Also make sure you check out this article by Carl Beck http://www.zhome.com/Buying/1stGenWhatToWatch.html Good luck in your purchase.

By the way where do you get hold of a diesel crank?? What model crank please. Thanks man. George
